Visited Boquerones Tapas and Cocktails with my daughter, we shared bread with Aloli, padron peppers, meatballs, goats cheese salad, ham and cheese croquettes then churros for dessert and a mocktail each, good value for money the bill came to just over £53 including a tip
We thoroughly enjoyed the dishes, my favourite is the peppers- simple but tasty
The decor is authentic, staff friendly and attentive and free parking to the front

Lovely experience fabulous waiter and waitress and I would recommend going back although there is one but and the but is we had three tapas off the three for £20 menu and the prawns had a supplement of £3 so essentially for the prawn dish you were paying just over £9 And five prawns turned up don’t really think that’s value for money compared to everything else which was absolutely delicious, so with the prawns it just seem to fit with the rest of the menu bit strange really would we go back? Absolutely !!
we had a bottle of the gov’nor wine and that was absolutely delicious and goodvalue for £25.

We rang on the off chance there might have a table for 2. As it was St Valentine’s Day we were not surprised when told it was fully booked. But even more surprisingly just moments later we received a call back to say there had been a cancellation.
Warmly greeted on arrival and shown to our table downstairs where Paloma asked if we would like a drink while choosing our tapas dishes and also pointing out some specials on the board. She returned with the drinks and helped us with advice on portion sizes etc. Bread, olives and aioli whist food prepared washed down with their special Sangrias.
Mussels, prawns in garlic, chicken then a beautiful dish of sliced rare beef to die for.
Waited a while before ordering crème Catalan just to finish off a beautiful meal with wonderful service from Paloma and Toby. Thankyou and we will be back hopefully for my birthday hint hint x

Perhaps it was the expectation (of seriously great food) that was the issue.
For us it was good, just not exceptional, not 5*.
As others have mentioned the food (for our palates at least) needed a bit more seasoning, and there was no salty on the table. Looking at recent reviews perhaps standards are sliding?
Boquerones, good, very tasty
Patatas Brava, a tad greasy and not as crisp as we would have liked them.
Gambas - dissapointing, and like nothing I've had in spain.
Mushrooms in garlic, again a bit limp / as if they been bolied.
Salad good, but then that's not hard to do.
Bread was loveley, when we eventually got it.
Tortilla, good, not great.
Leek and Manchego Croquetas, very nice, but not exactly bursting with flavour.
Paprika Cauliflower, very good.
Cod bites, very good, but just battered fish like you would get from a chippy, with an OK sauce.
Service was pleasant, if not exactly efficient. Although asking straight away if we wanted bread for the table to snack on while waiting for the food, it came after we had asked for it twice and after all the other dishes. A random serving of chorizo arrived (that we didnt order) so was returened, then when the bill came, two extra dishes which we neither ordered nor had, were on there. These were removed without fuss, so as I say, pleasant just not very efficient. For me not worth the trip out of Newcastle centre as I've had several better in town, and price is similar or less.

What a shame! This restaurant has always been one of my favourites but tonight the service we received was so unwelcoming I would never return or recommend it again. Another recent review has mentioned the blond female server - unfortunately she was rude and unfriendly from the outset and spoilt the whole experience for us and I suspect she is senior management. We were visiting for my mother in laws 78th birthday. We were seated RIGHT next to the door which was extremely cold and breezy. We were prepared to overlook this as the restaurant looked busy - but had not realised seating was available downstairs. After a couple left we asked to shift along so we were less exposed to the door drafts, but the move was done with noise and aggression. I felt like an inconvenience rather than a guest about to spend a lot of money at their restaurant. My mother in law was shocked at her attitude and we became quite bemused that someone can be so rude! The food served was decent, but to be honest it was slammed on the table in a rushed manner with little care or attention, the staff lacked any warmth or charisma. The whole experience was rushed and disappointing and the server lacked any customer service skills. We only left a tip as the food was ok and we didn’t want to penalise the younger staff and the chefs. But the place is distinctly average and doesn’t deserve the reviews or the money we spent. We will not be back. Gone right downhill and not worth the money. We left much quicker than anticipated as didn’t want to waste another penny in their unwelcoming environment.

Just like to start off and say that the food here is decent, nothing special but tbf it is tapas so it's never really gonna be something that lights the world on fire.
Came here for a birthday meal with my partner and it was a quiet Thursday night and we were served by a male in his 30s (don't want to name him as that's a tad harsh)
Just gonna say he was friendly enough but he was, no offence to him - a little annoying.
Hanging round the table none stop felt like I was being eavesdropped on by a KGB agent - He also kept telling me to 'dig in' whilst I was waiting for my partners plates to arrive, just let me eat how I want to eat mate
To be honest though, this didn't really bother me too much but what really did upset me and I found quite pathetic to be honest was when we came to pay the bill we paid 10% each on top with our card as a tip and he instantly became moody and sulky and rolled his eyes and gave a sarcastic thank you bye when we left...
Just going to say mate life is quite expensive atm and people don't appreciate rude attitudes like that - Also maybe if you weren't such a pain during our meal it might be the you could get tipped more often

Visited this place recently on a Saturday evening and best to book in advance as its only a small venue. The menu had plenty of options and also offered an early bird before 5pm of 3 dishes for £18.95. As a coeliac it can be hard doing the tapas sharing dishes but the restaurant confirmed they used a separate fryer for gluten free so that was a massive bonus for me. I ordered; chorizo, patatas bravas, garlic mushrooms and chicken thighs. Portion sizes are decent and the service was great. The waitress was really clear about gluten free and she would notify the kitchen. We all enjoyed our meals and no reaction. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

We attended here with another couple for sharing Tapas and were extremely impressed. The environment is very quirky and extremely laid-back. The servers were friendly and although relaxed were very professional. I was expecting to practice my Spanish with the staff , but they were more Geordie than me.
The Tapas was excellent!
Portion sizes were large and I must say it and represented great value for money. The boquerones were fresh, chorizo was brilliant, Spanish tortilla was great. The calamari was very well cooked but the block and bottle steak dish for £5 each was a really lovely touch. They served Alhambra bottled beer which is my favourite. We also had Amaretto sours cocktails which were really nicely made.

6pm booking and the place was buzzing, sat down and offered drinks while we poured over the tapas menu. Bread olives and ailio (which was amazing-the best I have ever tasted) was brought to the table and we set to choose some delicious sharers. Potatas Bravas with their thick flavoursome tomato sauce and drizzle of ailio were a taste sensation, piping hot and hit the spot. A bowl of garlic mushrooms, in a creamy garlicky sauce were delicious-creamy sauce was mopped up with a piece of crispy toast -lots off ‘mmm’s’ at the table. The stuffed peppers filled with a creamy ricotta, were a welcome change to the heavy garlic of the other dishes and the blood orange salad, with a zesty dressing cleansed the palette beautifully. Too full for a dessert but my companion had a passion fruit sorbet -which was zingy refreshing and sharp as a sorbet should be.
A great little place, really lovely staff, an intimate atmosphere-a real flavour of Spain and if it wasn’t for the rainy evening outside we could have felt we were there.
Definitely a place to eat good delicious tapas -freshly made and good quality.
Would definitely recommend and looking forward to coming back again! Outstanding

Absolutely incredible experience! This local tapas restaurant is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the warmest smiles from the staff. The atmosphere was cosy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed yet special night out.
The tapas was out of this world—each dish bursting with flavour and crafted with obvious care every bite was a delight. The menu is creative yet authentic, offering a mix of classic and unique options that will leave you spoiled for choice. I’m still dreaming of the aubergine dish.
And the cocktails? Divine! The mixologist is a true artist, creating drinks that are not only visually stunning but perfectly balanced.
What really made the evening exceptional was the staff. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food and drinks they were serving. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it made the whole experience unforgettable.

A fantastic experience, with delicious tapas and great drinks. We booked a table for 4 at 5.45pm on a Friday so managed to order from the 3 tapas for £18.95 menu. There was a great selection of food which satisfied all our tastes. All the dishes were great. The draught beer was really good as was the house red wine. Would recommend to anyone.

Gave this place a second chance due to previous reviews. Cant say I’m not disappointed again. The food is not worth the prices. The chorizo was in some odd sweet flavoured oil, completely flavourless. The prawns were in the same oil and not the slightest hint of garlic. The blonde woman serving us was constantly hovering around the table, grinning and eyeballing us while we ate. Found this uncomfortable and made the our second experience even worse. Won’t be back.

Very expensive for what you get, the potatoe dishes are big but only because there cheap to make probably, all other dishes are small especially the chorizo. The food isn't exactly top notch, everything taste's average. Don't understand the hype and won't be coming back.

Thank you for your 3rd one star review in your trilogy. If only your 2 previous review had not been taken down by Tripadvisor at our request, our other diners could then see that they were written in the same format, with the same spelling mistakes and mention the same issues, from accounts that had been set up this month and have only posted one review. We look forward to seeing what name you will be posting with next and wonder what your truly have left to say as we now think you have covered it all

Such a wonderful restaurant with lovely friendly staff! I had my 21st birthday meal with 16 members of my family. The restaurant was happy to cater for my large group & make my birthday very special🙂 The food was absolutely amazing & the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian & vegan dishes 🌱 My favourite dish was the Feta🧀 Me & my boyfriend also shared a lovely bottle of the house white 🥂 Would definitely recommend popping in if you're in Heaton.
