Been today to have the Sunday roast which was lamb. It was absolutely delicious. The lamb and veg were cooked to perfection and the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend for a scrummy Sunday roast. 5*****

We decided it was too warm to cook tea so headed out along the quayside to find somewhere to eat. After walking to Ouseburn and finding everywhere full, we walked back into Newcastle and came across The Broad Chare. Great pub/restaurant. Fantastic menu, enjoyed out meals (smoked haddock fishcakes and a superb burger, served slightly pink on request with proper... More

Very nice menu of British food, lovely staff, and comfortable setting -- great combo for a very good meal in this wonderful town. The Scotch egg (my first) was particularly delightful. Happy to recommend this place.

We thought the food was so good we booked to return the following night. Excellent beer in the pub downstairs, excellent food upstairs. It doesn't have that slightly odd feel that many restaurant/pubs have. A very friendly atmosphere and really friendly staff. We're looking forward to visiting Newcastle again!

Best lamb Sunday lunch I've had in a long time. Relaxed atmosphere and unpretentious staff made for a really enjoyable family get together. Good beers, ales and a decent wine selection. If you want the beef be aware that it is served slightly pink but that's not a criticism.

Have visited several times over the years. Menu is a little quirky but fabulous. Like the fact that you can order just side dishes. Book a window seat if you can (interesting to people watch on Court days). Lindisfarne oysters are a must! Service excellent. Would like to see NZ Sauv Blanc offered as a House wine by the glass... I tend to review in extremes, either I am deeply disappointed or I really enjoy the experience and motivated to make a comment. This is the latter, I use the restaurant regularly, so much so it never occurred to me to write a review. The web site describes the place well, so you will know you can buy real ale,... More

Broad Chare is an excellent bar & restaurant, just off Quayside. Nice layout, great range of beers & other drinks, very good menu, excellent quality food. Service top notch. Ideal location next to Live Theatre. Highly recommended

We visited The Broad Chare after seeing a play at the Live Theatre. What a great pub and restaurant! We were shown to our table by the window which we had requested. Great seating for couples so would definitely recommend requesting a window table. Staff were great and very friendly. The food was so good and I highly recommend the... More

Re visited this pub and restaurant with an old friend and it was my recommendation, so hoped it was as good as I remembered. No disappointment for me! I really rated the Steak and kidney pudding- old fashioned but when you fancy it nothing better and in this case it was exactly right. Delicious! The only thing is it's a... More
