Delicious food Good service Easy to book Set menu on Sunday afternoon until 5pm!! We have been twice here and it doesn’t disappoint

First time here. Turned up on a Saturday night and managed to get a table for three without a reservation but it was busy and I think we were lucky. Had a very nice meal and my daughter, who has to have a gluten free...diet and doesn’t eat meat, said her pasta was one of the nicest she’s ever had, both the texture of the pasta itself and the spicy sauce that it was served in. My wife had chicken and I had a steak and it was all well cooked and flavoursome. The wine we had was good and fairly priced for a Gavi and a Valpolicella. The staff were all very attentive and friendly and we had a lovely evening. I would go back again.More

Last visited a year ago when change of owner. Vast improvement since then. Had a free iced bottle of tap water... Whilst scrutinising the menu. My pizza was so much nicer and lots of tasty topping. Nice thin base. Dessert... . 3 scoops of ice...cream. Once again my favourite flavours weren't stocked. But alternative was very nice. Generous portions. Supplied with squirty cream... Waiter should have told us, as my friend had to remove it. Staff were so nice. Welcoming, friendly and attentive. Manager came over to say hello. Looks like interior has had a clean and refurb. New menus. You can still sit outside. But the cornered off area has been removed. A real shame. Don't know why. Recommended.More

Great, traditional family run Italian- perfect place to celebrate graduation. (Garlic bread with cheese was enormous).

Here for our son's graduation, third visit actually. Great food, really good vfm, wonderful atmosphere, superb service - we just love family run Italian restaurants like this.

Absolutely brilliant! Have come 3 times throughout my finals year of my degree and has been nothing short of excellent each time. The food, atmosphere and service is to be applauded. Incredible spot in Jesmond as well. Would highly recommend😁

This used to be a great restaurant but after our recent visit we will not be going back again. Despite having booked a table we were told it was very busy and eventually shown to a table right next to the toilets, next to the...stack of high chairs. Not the best start. Another table did become available and we asked to move to that one. The food was mediocre at best, tempura prawns to start with which were barely warm. My pizza was similarly barely warm so I sent it back and it didn't come back any better. I asked the waiter to take it away and that I had no intention of paying for it. A terrible experience that I don't want to repeat.More

If you're just after some good food then this is the place however the attitude and treatment from the main waiter was really rude and upsetting. We used to love coming here as it's such a nice little Italian however the past experience has meant...we definitely won't be returning. We arrived for a reserved table and had to wait 30 mins wait to be sat at our table. We then had to wait a further 35 mins to get our starters... 65 mins in total just to get starters and had no word from any staff to say that things were to be taking a while. We then had a problem with the drinks and instead of dealing with it quietly the waiter made a massive deal and asked us to come to the bar to try the drink again before serving us a replacement. He wouldn't let this drop and continued to make a scene...to the extent that we were going to leave as we have never been spoken to like that, especially not what you expect to receive in a restaurant and out for a nice occasions - in my case finishing exams and that was totally ruined. We could tell the waiter reflected and was trying to make amends later on by offering free drinks as we left however the damage was already done at this point and sadly we really didn't enjoy our experience as a result.More

Popped in to Avanti on our way home to Gosforth on a gorgeous Summer’s night. Lovely warm welcome from the staff and a jug of water and two lovely cold beers were served quickly to our sunny table outside. We ordered two delicious pizzas accompanied...by a Caprese salad. Loved the little pizza wheel also! Pizzas were super fresh,thin and the ingredients authentic.This is how you do really good Italian pizza! There’s good veggie options and gluten free if required. Great tasting food and a lovely atmosphere. The staff were so lovely and we are embarrassed we haven’t been in so long! Thank you so much Avanti we will be back very soon I promise.More

I was here for my 21st birthday and service was fantastic all evening. Memet and Chardy looked after us (a table of 10). They were extremely polite and very funny too, making the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable. Food was delicious, and one of the...most authentic Italian places in the whole of Newcastle. I couldn't recommend Avanti more highly.More
