The Old Siam serves high quality, authentic Thai food. I spent a lot of time in northern Thailand and missed the food. I was delighted to find The Old Siam. Great location, nice staff and reasonably priced. I'll definitely go back.

I haven't been for a few months so maybe the restaurant has vastly improved, but when I went here I didn't like it at all. I am not a fussy eater and I almost always finish my food, but I left half my meal in this restaurant. The prawns didn't taste fresh. Thai food can be so, so much better.... More

Really enjoyed the food here. Authentic and spicy, the Papaya salad was amazing! Will definitely go again!

This is a lovely restaurant that was a pleasure to find and highly recommended if you enjoy Thai food. The service is incredibly attentive and very friendly and the food, oh the food was so tasty. I think I will be heading back here next time I am in town. Not sure if it is as busy throughout the week... More

This place was recommended to us and when we walked in I really liked the atmosphere. The service was excellent and very friendly. But the food this day was not up to par. The milk in the soup was curdled, the mussels were overcooked and tough. But the Duck stir fry was wonderful. If I head back there again I... More

I'm not the biggest fan of Thai cuisine but the food was very good. The service was friendly and efficient and the overall atmosphere was very pleasant. I would unreservedly recommend this restaurant.

Set menu B this time round for a celebration meal. Staff again excellent, food fabulous. Bit busier this time which was nice to see. Will visit again if/when back in Newcastle.

Visited The Old Siam, Newcastle in October as a surprise anniversary meal. To be fair I didn't know it existed until we arrived there! Very surprised at how nice it was with really friendly staff, lovely authentic Thai food and Chang beer. After visiting Bangkok and Phuket back in May this year The Old Siam had a lot to compete... There is a much wider choice of Thai restaurants in Newcastle than ever before which is great. However, if you are down on the quayside then The Old Siam is not only an excellent Thai restaurant but also the best choice for food there. Our soft shell crab was spicy and tasty, the chicken tom yum soup was not spicy... More

Yeah pretty decent Thai food, not as good as Zen in Durham or Zap in Newcastle. I'd won't be going back, not because it wasn't decent, it's simply because there are much better options.

Thank Ian B
