I think the last time I reviewed No28 was way back in 2018 and a lot has happened between then and now within that time frame and I’ve had some great times here. This upstairs bar is still a bit of a hidden gem on...Nelson Street and as cool and as quirky a venue as it always was, and it still has it’s Dalek, although now painted black. I received a friendly greeting as I approached the bar and the service was absolutely excellent as it’s always been, music played to a nice level and not too loud. On this particular visit a very pleasant young chap called Andrew Rakowski delivered what I’d call very attentive, first class, customer service, so a special mention there for Andrew, thank you so much for looking after me like I was a VIP. Food wise, I ordered the King Prawns (As recommended by Andrew, good choice) some Black Pudding Tempura Fritters (These are truly bloody amazing) and The Ultimate No28 Burger which was very similar to the burger that I had at Blues and Bourbon downstairs, but trust me, this is a top end burger and both No28 and Blues and Bourbon should be on Newcastle’s map just for these burgers alone, the kitchen at No28 was good before but it’s even better now, a great little menu and clearly a good chef delivering the goods. Just to clarify here; No28 does a great cheeseburger and it will satisfy your hunger and leave you feeling stuffed. Food came within good time, piping hot, beautifully presented and tasted even better, all washed down with a couple of bottles of Heineken 0% - a dining pleasure. Definitely full marks for No28, I had a very pleasant early evening’s dining, was treated like a king and was fed some top scran, so I’m very happy to recommend, it remains one of my favourite Newcastle City Centre bars.More

Several hangovers in a 9-strong group is proof that no28 lives up to its promise of a truly bottomless experience! Full bottles on the table, replaced as soon as turned over empty and tasty eats. You choose one dish each from the tapas list which...comes with sharing bread, salad and patatas bravas. No rushing and we actually stayed and bought more bottles after our allocated two hours. We had a splendid time and will certainly be back. £33 in May 2022. The decor is a bit girly and the striding nudes picture isn't to everyone's taste but it made a talking point. Negatives - VERY difficult to find the entrance which is in one of the alleys into the Grainger Market from Nelson St; the staircase stinks of old beer which isn't very pleasant but once in the bar, it disappears.More

Went early doors on a friday for a bite to eat, heard the new tapas menu was great. Had the couples feast - £30 for 3 tapas, patatas bravas, bread and salad... upgraded to a bottle of prosecco for £10 extra.... great quality and couldn`t...eat it all... anyway... hit`s 10pm and it suddenly feels like im in a bouji nightclub... A DJ starts and people start dancing.... was flagging by 1am and went home after a great night but apparently this carries on until 3am.... is indeed a hidden gem.More

I regularly drink in No28 but it's not somewhere I have eaten for quite some time. However, as their menu fairly recently changed to Tapas, me and my partner decided to give it a try. What a good dewcision that was. The food was lovely...and the service friendly and helpful. We had the calamari, the black pudding tempura, the Albondigas (I think that's what they were called - meatballs, basically), the prawns... Not one dish had anything left after we'd finished. Spot on. And a bottle of Prosecco was only £15. Result.More

Same as others I’m afraid. One rude staff member who didn’t want to be there at all. Terrible service. Food was bad. Prawns were chewy and tasteless the chorizo was filled with gristle. The female door staff was very friendly and apologised. She gets the...two stars.More

Visited here on Mother’s Day with my 2 adult children for a cocktail. The decor is lovely and definitely a hidden gem of a place. I would avoid the cocktails though. I don’t believe we got what we should have done. The small glasses were...half full, not dressed up at all and were barely drinkable. I absolutely don’t think they were made correctly. They aren’t cheap either. Not that I minded paying the price if the cocktails were good. When I queried it with the waiter, I was told, that’s what you get. I wish I’d taken a photograph of them but didn’t think at the time. Shame, I probably won’t go back or recommend it to friends.More

Lovely bar, nice drinks, bar staff leave a lot to be desired. Rude, unhelpful and more interested in shoving you out the way and kicking people of tables that aren’t reserved. Won’t be back in a hurry.

Tried to attend with my family for food and drinks. We there then told that we could not have food due to just booking drinks. I told the waitress and showed her what I had booked. She then disappeared for 15 minutes and came back...and said guess I can do food. I originally ordered two drinks for myself however changed my mind to one. She had not even took the order and rudely said well you need to have two ! She then spoke rudely to my mother and the family Left. Not before she started slagging us off to bar staff. Vile experience. Would never return.More
