I think the last time I reviewed No28 was way back in 2018 and a lot has happened between then and now within that time frame and I’ve had some great times here. This upstairs bar is still a bit of a hidden gem on...Nelson Street and as cool and as quirky a venue as it always was, and it still has it’s Dalek, although now painted black. I received a friendly greeting as I approached the bar and the service was absolutely excellent as it’s always been, music played to a nice level and not too loud. On this particular visit a very pleasant young chap called Andrew Rakowski delivered what I’d call very attentive, first class, customer service, so a special mention there for Andrew, thank you so much for looking after me like I was a VIP. Food wise, I ordered the King Prawns (As recommended by Andrew, good choice) some Black Pudding Tempura Fritters (These are truly bloody amazing) and The Ultimate No28 Burger which was very similar to the burger that I had at Blues and Bourbon downstairs, but trust me, this is a top end burger and both No28 and Blues and Bourbon should be on Newcastle’s map just for these burgers alone, the kitchen at No28 was good before but it’s even better now, a great little menu and clearly a good chef delivering the goods. Just to clarify here; No28 does a great cheeseburger and it will satisfy your hunger and leave you feeling stuffed. Food came within good time, piping hot, beautifully presented and tasted even better, all washed down with a couple of bottles of Heineken 0% - a dining pleasure. Definitely full marks for No28, I had a very pleasant early evening’s dining, was treated like a king and was fed some top scran, so I’m very happy to recommend, it remains one of my favourite Newcastle City Centre bars.More
