After a long day in the pub a few of us predictably went for Indian , we only had poppadum's and pickles to start and they arrived quickly and the accompanying sauces and pickles were lovely and fresh , even though we were classic brits , worse for wear after a Friday night the staff were so helpful in recommending... I have known this restaurant in all it's names over the years. I have never had a bad experience. When it reopened I hoped the quality food and service would continue. No need to worry the food was exceptional, the service friendly and efficient as ever. We were impressed with the street food aperitif, then pickles and poppadums, the mains... More

Tonight we got our first opportunity to visit the New new Bengal. We are not disappointed, far from it. What fantastic food. A pile of crispy popodoms and a brilliant range of pickles and dips to go with them. My wife had chicken tikka saggawala, chock full of meat, delicately spiced and deliciously flavoured. Light and fresh rice and fluffy... More

We had visited down previously so went down Madiha again to find it was shut (see previous review). So I had heard this place had reopened, rang up and got a table for 4 for my wife's birthday. The place is done out very modern and menu is not massive but has enough to satisfy what I think most people... More

I've been wanting to try it for a while. Rebuilt from the fire, nice and shiny. Quite small actually. It was 5.30 on a Saturday night and we hadn't booked, it was busy already but we managed a table. The food was simply superb. Fresh and spicy without the 'overhang' that sometimes is part of Indian food. If you haven't... More

We have been coming to this site for almost 20 years but this was our first visit back after its long closure after fire damage. Familiar faces but an all-new and dramatically improved menu. Has upped its game to be on a par with several of the big hitters in the local Indian scene and delivers in a clean, fresh... More

Are there really any Indian restaurants in Newcastle on a par with Bradford/Birmingham? This one doesn't qualify either. Nice new shiny décor? that's where it ends. Supermarket quality Chicken Masala... powdery, over spice with frozen watery Prawns. Big Bengal tasty? small! Indian staff, depressed, Romanian lady staff pleasant....

We missed the new Bengal so much and are glad to see the new new Bengal rise up from the literal ashes. Our favourite Indian is back and incredibly is better than ever. We only had a carry out tonight and look forward to dining in, as it looks fantastic in the restaurant. The food was top notch and it... More
