Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My cat obsessed granddaughter loved this place as she was introduced to and allowed to play with all the lovely cats. The food and drinks were reasonably priced and well presented and the £6 per person booking fee helps to pay for the care of the cats. It is only a very small cafe but you get more personal attention and the staff member who introduced all the cats to us was very welcoming. It was difficult to find at first as it is tucked away down a narrow alley but this makes it a calmer and peaceful environment.

Came here as a treat for my partner and since they happened to be running a game night on the day we were going to Newcastle anyways. I'm not that partial to cat cafes anymore as the interactions always feel a bit disingenuous, and the cats on that day were a bit like that (not particularly interested in interacting) but some of them were which made it a pretty relaxing experience, not to mention the food was actually quite nice and not too overpriced. Cat bingo was very fun and they had a lot of cute merch we also got at the end, including stickers (please make more!). Cats were very interested in the hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Brilliant cat cafe, the cats are all obviously well looked after and happy to be stroked on their terms (as is the norm with cats!). What makes this place stand out from the crowd is that they give you dry cat food to feed to the cats so you can get really great interaction with them! Scones were delicious - definitely worth trying!!

The staff and the cats were great as is the idea of the cafe. Sadly the cafe itself needs a bit of attention. We felt that although there will be wear and tear with cats about, a new lick of paint and a interior reorganisation of the place would make it a little more welcoming. The service was slow and I didn't like eating out of old well worn cooking tins. We were happy to pay £6 each for the experience, but found that the food was on the pricy side and very little choice for a cafe. Unfortunately we wont go again.

Cost over £33 for entry ,snacks & drinks for 1 adult & 2kids . Drinks came quite quick but waited ages for snacks and you only get an hour inside. Carers fee was meant to be half price but half of £7 isn’t £4. One of the ginger cats was quite angry / unfriendly maybe should not be in a cat cafe . Staff seemed friendly enough Overall very expensive and not many cats

£6 just to get through the door. Small, cramped, tatty little cafe. You only have an hour before being asked to leave and it took 40 mins to get the food which was only a panini. By the time it arrived drinks had gone cold. Tea served in a thick pottery mug with the teabag still in it. A teapot would have been nice! It was boiling hot so asked for a glass of water with ice. They had run out of ice. You have to take off your shoes. Not sure why as staff wear them. Floor was not clean. The toilets smelt awful. From what we could see of the kitchen it was a disgrace.

I visited with family members who all love cats. I appreciate that cats are live animals and do not perform on cue and to be fair these cats were very engaging after some encouragement. My issue was the actual cost.... £24 paid initially to book then £30 on the actual day so £54 for 4 drinks and 4 panninis. I understand that money is needed for the upkeep of the cats although obviously not the premises which are very run down but I still feel the cost was exorbitant. Next time I will be going to the cat cafe on the Quayside which has a £2 deposit and a much nicer and cleaner looking cafe

Our third visit to the cafe, 4 years since our last one and due to Covid etc only 1 cat remained from our last trip there. The new cats are all excellent and it was a fun visit on Mothers Day. The cafe was fully booked for our session but it didn’t feel too full and there were plenty of cats to go round (especially when the biscuits came out!) The service of food and drink was quite slow but of good quality when it arrived. Nacho was asleep for the whole hour but every other cat was up and about, with some (mainly Gary & Fox) causing chaos and trying to lick the cream on the hot chocolate! Still an excellent place to visit for a cat lover!

I have been to Mog on the Tyne many times and have never been disappointed. The cats are all from local rescues and are treated really well - they do have a place to disappear to if they don't fancy people at that point, and are usually happy to play and wander about. Gary (which is a fantastic name for a cat!) is such a gorgeous boy, and whilst local celebrity Stan has now retired the remaining cats are just as fun and adorable. The food is really good too - smashing chicken and chorizo paninis, and the lattes are lovely. Best best is definitely the cakes though, from local bakery Pet Lamb Patisserie. Brownies are served warm and gooey, and cake slices are generous and so tasty.

My friends and I always come to this cafe whenever we can because it never fails to amaze!! The majority of the cats are very friendly and playful (either that or they would be sleeping), not to mention the food is great too (the hot chocolate deserves a mention!). A very great experience for anyone, from experienced cat owners to timid cat lovers. Definitely recommend this cafe to anyone trying to convert their friend into a cat lover😊❤️

As a big time cat lover the cafe is my favourite place to go,the staff are always so kind and supportive regarding my disability and do everything they can to help assist me into the property. Because of the building regulations and council rules they are unable to use a ramp, but they help assist my chair up the steps - but of course this is something I would advise everyone with mobility issues to ring in advance for further information to help you plan your trip. I require vegan options and I always find tasty food on the menu whenever I visit, which is something I always love to see. The cats are well natured and have their own personalities, you just fall in love with them. They have free events (plus entry) such as cat bingo, cat quiz night, cat games night, cat mask and bandana craft events.

The best cafe ever-according to our two cat loving children! A little bit tricky to find down a quiet back road but we got there eventually. We chose the first slot of the day as we didn't have long in Newcastle. in the hope that some of the cats would be more lively first thing in the morning! The cats were a mixture of ages, colours and temperaments, all obviously beautifully looked after. Some were prepared to play with toys-others preferred to retreat to higher vantage points and human watch which is what cats do and that is why we love them. We were also provided with cat biscuits which some of the cats ate out of our hands! Everything was really clean. We enjoyed out paw print coffees and our fizzy drinks. It was a lovely way to spend an hour!

We visited here today with my little girl and loved it, all of the staff were friendly and chatted with us, they spent time talking to my daughter and explaining which toys the different cats like. Lots of interaction with the cats who are clearly well looked after. My cat-mad girl declared it was the best day ever so we will definitely be back!

This was the first time we'd been to a Cat Cafe & my cat obsessed daughter loved it. She had been missing our cat whilst we've been on holiday & since going to Mog on the Tyne she has said it was the highlight of her holiday. The staff were wonderful, being both attentive & welcoming. My daughter spent almost the entire visit surrounded by cats & playing with them. The cats were extremely affectionate & were very drawn to not only my daughter but our food too. Food & drink was presented beautifully & tasted great. I thought the merch was fantastic especially the wonderful prints they were selling. We came out well fed, covered in cat hair (no different from at home) & my daughter had the biggest smile on her face. So much so that she called her dad (my ex-husband) to gush about the experience. We were provided a loyalty card & although we are far from local we are definitely planning to return when we are next in the area.

I went today with my friend who loves cats and it was his 60th birthday present. From the moment we went to the moment we left it was a very great experience. The cats are very clearly well loved and looked after. The staff who served us were excellent and really friendly and very easy to talk to. The two ladies I spoke with who worked there, sadly never asked their names, one with very colourful hair and one with dark hair could of not have been nicer! They made the time there even better for me and my friend. We got some drinks and he got a panni and all was good. Thank you! Will be back :)
