Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our first visit, but certainly not our last. Wonderfully authentic experience with great service, food and locally brewed Wylam beer. A marriage made in heaven

The place is good but the quantity they serve is so less which no where matches to there price card. I ordered desert Brownie with Vanilla for 7GBP and i was shocked to see a small piece of dry brownie and a small scoop of...vanialla with so avaerage taste. Its just not about the price but the quantity of there starters is like pathetic. Even the taste of dosa is less than average. Would never recommend this place to anyone.More

This restuarant is at another level of Indian cuisine compared to the many good Indian restaurants in the North East. Its southern indian cuisine with names you may not be familiar with. The Dosa's were superb. The chicken and lamb dishes had flavours which linger...on your palate well after the meal in a nice way. The smell of dry spices being toasted in the kitchen and taste of fresh coriander in the dishes show the extra mile this team go to. We visited early evening midweek and the restuarant was well full. Advise to book, price slightly higher but worth it for the quality of the dishes.More

Absolutely delicious, authentic South Indian food. Lovely atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. We’ve been coming here for years and every dish on the menu is superb. The dosas are so yummy and the Sunday sapad is always fantastic. Forget the often horrible English versions of...Indian food in other restaurants and come here!More

I had only been to one other Dosa restaurant before- in Glasgow. It is in a nice urban setting with an outdoor seating area for good weather. It is not enntered from Osborne Road- you have to go round the corner. I went in and...upstairs where I was greeted and given a table. It was busy even though it was relatively early. Lots of Indian families. As it was Sunday I had the Sapaad which conmsists of lots of small dishes with rice and a dosa. The Malabar curry was particularly spicy and delicious so I was glad I had ordered a pint of Chola Kings brewed by the Wylam Brewery. It went down a treat. I would return and recommend.More

An amazing South Indian cuisine experience here! 🔥🔥 This restaurant brought me back to South India, where I was in Vellore for a medical school attachment. It was a Thursday night, and even then, the restaurant was full of patrons - we had to wait...20 minutes to be seated. The team was very courteous and welcoming. You can’t miss the DOSA - crispy, delicious, served together with Sambhar and rich Chutneys. Vada, fried with black peppercorns and herbs, was superb. I particularly enjoyed the Pondy Meen Curry - a tangy spicy rich fish curry which was incredible. We also had Mushroom Manchurian and Sweet z Adam (almond) lassi. I am so glad to find this restaurant, and am coming back for certain 😄More

We came for the Sunday Sapaad which is £16.95 per person or a pound cheaper for. vegetarian . Plenty of staff serving. The diners here were mostly Asian so that says a lot about the authenticity of the food. We loved this style of eating,...small dishes which you can ask for refills of and the dosa is delicious. We also had a chai and a south Indian coffee and were well impressed. Highly recommendedMore

After navigating the Brandling Village maze for a few in the Collingwood arms, we set off for Dosa knowing it was rear entry. Behind and belying the facade, we found a packed, buzzing warren of ambience, cleared- plates, happy families and vivid plates wafted en...route to both. After sharing team spectacles, we sought assistance for the menu. The staff were great and their predictions of need were spot-on nothing wasted. Small plates ordered- each different, simple, excellent-produce, rich and tasty. Dosa next - think skinny naan shaped likes brandy-snaps stuffed with various lovelies. My accompanying lamb main was perfectly proportioned, rich and unctuous just a lovely heat and subtle tang also impeccable rice. Colleagues enjoyed similar, all left-overs gleefully shared. Very well looked after and totally content. A few of us had been before, I was the newbie, will definitely be back. Easy access from Metro and a few pre-post pubs for fun. ExcellentMore

I had tried the food here at their events van at the market on the dene and was impressed with it enough to want to pop in and try the restaurant, I was not disappointed. The service was excellent, and the curries were amazing. I...must admit that I wasn't too sure about the accompanying sauces witht he dosas, but that was a matter of taste rather than quality. The curries were delicious and as good as I have had in the NE, though even the mild curries were pretty spicy, so I would advise caution to anyone ordering a hot curry that isn't prepared! All in all, excellent value for money with friendly, efficient staff and great food. Highly recommended for a curry and beer night.More

Visited this delightful restaurant after work this evening. What a gem! Please don’t be put off by the closed shutters at the front, the restaurant entrance is round the back and it is very special indeed. The setting is nice: clean, fresh and comfortable. Service...is exceptional. The staff are incredibly polite and welcoming and are happy to explain the menu, which is not the usual 100 item epic offered in most Indian restaurants. This menu focuses on fascinating small plates, dosa (of course), a small number of curries and sundries such as rice and bread. This is clearly a conscious decision to showcase a carefully selected collection of outstanding hand crafted dishes and that is exactly what they are. The food is truly exceptional. There are no unsubtle, generic sauces here. Spice is a note, not an assault. Every dish is a sumptuous delight of delicate, complimentary flavours and textures. Simply the best Indian meal I’ve ever had.More
