This is an interesting place which I had visited prior to it receiving it's Michelin Star. The food was good then so I can see how some years on it has now been awarded that star. I really enjoyed the meal, in fact the four of us dining here had a really good meal. My only issue is the fact... More

Booked this restaurant for sons 30th birthday was given only early reservation as it was busy. Arrived on time . Booking for 5 persons. Lovely greeting by young lady who arranged seats for us in the bar pre dinner drinks. Met some other friends by chance there who informed us they had 'got in without reservation'?! We were then informed... More

I have eaten in a lot of Michelin establishments - THIS DOES NOT DESERVE TO MICHELIN STARRED. Our meal (what we had of it) was decent enough but the dining experience itself was truly appalling. I might start by pointing out that the website is grossly misleading. The 'home' page shows you lovely 'warm' main restaurant area - we weren't... More

On arrival, we were offered a glass of champagne on the house, but as we don't drink alcohol we had a lovely Citrus Tulip cocktail; pineapple, almond syrup, and coco mix. We were taken through to the restaurant and had celeriac soup and ham hock terrine as starters, both beautifully presented and very tasty. The waiter describes the food to... More

Six of us old friends decided to try The Cross for a Sunday lunch get-together. It was excellent, well worth the Michelin star. There was a slight mix-up with our booking, ie they didn't have it! One of us had telephoned to book, and we turned up expecting a table for six at 2.30. They had no note of our... More

We booked for the last sitting at 3pm and we were not in a great hurry so it was no a serious problem. The food was good and there was no surprise that this place has been awarded a Michelin Star. However, the service was slow and we felt that this just took the shine off it!

This was my second visit to the Cross this year. This time was a surprise Birthday treat booked by my hubby as I enjoyed it so much in the summer. In the summer we sat on the patio and leisurely perused the menu whilst sat in the sun. It was heavenly. We were then shown to our table which was... More

You definitely need to pre-book and it is pricey but you get what you pay for. A comfortable stylish but unpretentious venue with a limited menu, but Michelin starred food. The haunch and loin of venison was cooked two ways and melted in the mouth. The floating island pudding was superb, better than any I have eaten in France. Overall,... More

First visit with high expectations and not disappointed. It's easy to be critical and having read some other reviews was expecting either mixed service or small portions. Went on a Saturday night with my partner and both had the taster menu and yes the portions are small but so rich and flavoursome. The cauliflower starter was impressive and venison cooked... More
