We had a great family meal at Harrington on the Hill in Kenilworth. The food was fresh well prepared and excellent. Had a bit of a wait between first course and mains but it was a busy Saturday night. We wished to move tables and this was no problem , the staff were most helpful. In all we had a very enjoyable night with good company and good food in a good atmosphere. It has been a long time since we had been there before and it didn’t disappoint. Tip 1: Don’t sit to the left of the front door in the winter as there is a very cold draught every time the front door opens to let diners in. Also the door is on an automatic closer so is slow to close, and some people hang around there with the door open if they are waiting for friends. Tip 2: Parking is tight around there but if you park in the Queen and Castle car park you can claim the cost of parking one car from Harringtons. However after leaving the restaurant you need to go back into Harringtons to take the ticket back to claim the refund when leaving the car park.

Superb, our favourite little Saturday lunch spot. This place is warm, welcoming, friendly, with a superb fixed price menu @ £ 12.95 for 2 courses or £16.50 for 3 courses, both including a free glass of quality wine. The food is freshly cooked, super quality and can't be beaten for value for money. The loveliest thing about this are the wonderful staff, who simply can't do enough for you. Service is exceptional. Well done all. 10/10. Karen & Mark

We just wanted somewhere handy for lunch after visiting Kenilworth Castle, and we found Harringtons on a map search. Our moderate expectations were exceeded by miles! Great service: on sitting at our little table for two at the bottom of the stairs, the waitress asked if we’d rather sit upstairs, as there was more space, and it was empty. So we had a table with a lovely view to the cottages. Friendly waitresses, quality food swiftly served, great value from the set lunch menu, with a free drink too. Wish we lived closer - it would be a regular outing for us! Highly recommended!

The whole evening was excellent. Upon arrival we were presented with a complimentary glass of 'fizz' (Prosecco I assume). The waitresses were very attentive and took our order as soon as we were ready. (I had no Covid related concerns at all). The meals arrived in a good time, and although I had requested a medium rare steak, (10oz Rib Eye with garlic Prawns and Scallops) I would say it was more Medium, (possibly even leaning towards medium / well), it was absolutely delicious....not a morsel left on the plate. An extra Béarnaise sauce was provided (upon request), and I just had room for dessert. A chocolate mouse, on a dark cherry base, with Amaretti crumb and cream on top. (I recommend washing it down with an extra shot of Amaretto on the side). My wife's seabass was equally as delicious, and the restaurant went the extra mile and left us a 'Happy Anniversary' message in Caramel Sauce to compliment my wife's chocolate brownie. It wasn't the cheapest meal, but we were happy with the price, and it was certianly 'worth it'.

Visited here for a midday lunch after a recommendation from friends. Often a risk but no problem here, social distancing was in place with plenty of sanitiser available. Onto the food, the menu was quite comprehensive with a good selection of specials available too. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, the food was good, the wine was decent quality & it was all served pleasantly & efficiently by the waitresses at a reasonable cost too. We will be back !

We had a meal here last night. The reason I am giving three stars is that I booked on the basis of the set price menus that they advertised on their website. However when we arrived we discovered that they don't do them anymore. They let us choose from the set price lunch menu which was good of them because I was on the point of leaving. I had steak which was beautifully cooked how I like it. My husband had lamb's liver which he said was delicious. He had glazed lemon tart for dessert and I had cheese and biscuits which were lovely. The service was good and friendly and the manager was apologetic that there website is not up to date. Although it was a nice meal I am not sure I would rush back because the main menu didn't really grab me.

Thank you very much for your review. We are sorry that the website is misleading and we are in the process of rectifying this. We are very happy that you enjoyed what you had on the evening and we were able to accommodate your request for a set menu. Our main menu is often changing so hopefully when you return, we will have some dishes on there that will appeal more to your taste & we will endeavour to keep the website as updated as possible! Thanks for taking the time to write about us & we hope to see you soon! Kind Regards Charlotte & The Harringtons Team.

We managed to get a wedding organised the day before the latest lockdown (Nov 2020). The restaurant managed at short notice to accommodate two groups as very short notice and provide most of the menu choices that we had planned for the cancelled wedding the following Saturday. The food was really good as was the house Red Malbec. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely staff and a really nice buzzy atmosphere on a very busy evening (except the one gentleman who needed to turn his volume down....or is it the acoustics?) Mains of swordfish and sea bass were generous in quantity and perfectly cooked, with excellent accompaniments, and priced very acceptably. We were a little disappointed with fritto misto starter (very small portion for the price paid and no comparison with the mains, particularly as it was a 'special'). Cheapest wine over £20 which moved the total bill towards the 'special occasion' bracket, but we will definitely return when next in the area.

Excellent service, an excellent menu = one relaxing fabulous lunch for two. Very good value too, we had mains, desserts, coffee and a glass of wine each and it came to less than £40. The staff were friendly, professional and gave just the right level of service. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Kenilworth Castle - it’s only a short walk away.

Utterly unimaginative menu straight out of the 70s. Very little that anyone would want to eat if they were genuinely interested in food; it’s pub grub just not in a pub. I found the food very bland, unevenly cooked and under seasoned. Best thing is the wine list. I think there much much better options in Kenilworth and places have have realised it’s 2021 and customer want more than fish and chips, baked Camembert and steak Dianne [sic].

Ouch! What a very uncomplimentary review with a statement that there is ‘very little that ANYONE would want to eat if they are genuinely interested in food??” You have only taken the time to write about us and have not reviewed any other restaurants worthy of your praise so we cannot see who we are being compared to? Nevertheless, we would like to say that we love what we do. All our dishes are prepared with fresh & seasonal ingredients and we consider our dishes varied & ‘classic’ rather than dated. You are respectfully entitled to your opinion, however, we do not agree with you & hope that you continue to enjoy other restaurants that suit your imaginative palette more than we do. When using Tripadvisor as a platform, we hope that you would consider taking the time to write about businesses that you do appreciate also. It means a lot to business owners & their staff members who work very hard to ensure guests are happy & they enjoy their experience. Regards Charlotte & The Harringtons Team

We enjoyed a delicious and great value lunch. The 2 course lunch menu also includes a complimentary glass of wine which was a bonus. The fish was delicious & well cooked. Deserts all went down very well too. I’d happily return and recommend others to try it too.

Having been for afternoon tea previously I was excited to take my Mum and Mother in law, however we were bitterly disappointed. The sandwiches wouldn’t have filled a sparrow and had clearly been left out so were more like fingers of toast. The fillings were cheap and not what you expect when eating in a restaurant. The sandwiches consisted of wafer thin ham, one slice might I add, cheese and branston pickle and egg Mayo, all in a loaf of basics bread. The cakes were lovely as were the scones. Such a shame that the whole experience was let down by a small amount of cheap sandwiches. The service was also poor and not once were we asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. It was very embarrassing as I’d been telling them how lovely the afternoon tea and been previously. I am wondering if it maybe under new management. Such a shame as we are local and quite often ate out there with family and friends. Next time we go out for afternoon tea it will be to Forest coffee shop.

I booked a table for 5 for my husbands birthday and it was our first family meal out since lockdown eased. The staff were friendly, attentive and coped really well with their visors (especially on such a hot night) The tables were set out well and hand sanitiser was available on the welcome desk. Our food was all amazing and was cooked perfectly. The fish and salads we had were fresh and all plates were well presented. The brownie “cake” was a lovely touch at the end of our meal. We’ll definitely go back.

Sunday roasts. Simple money spinners for a lot of restaurants. So here we have a smart little restaurant in Kenilworth and clearly popular. But a lazy approach to Sunday lunch can destroy a reputation when a little care could enhance it. If you want specifics then we know when roast potatoes have not been roasted properly. They sort of look right but they don’t taste right. They taste like boiled potatoes that have been deep fat fried. So close to good and yet a lack of care rates you average. It wouldn’t take much to get you there.

Sunday lunch at it's very best! This is a delightful cosy and intimate restaurant that makes for a great dining experience. The staff are first class, friendly and extremely attentive without being intrusive. I have previously booked at the start and end of service and I can confirm that the standard of food is consistently to the highest standards. Delicious seasonal vegetables to accompany a choice of perfectly cooked roast meats and complimented by ample delicious gravy. Deserts are to die for and my seasonal choice is the apple and cinnamon crumble with a jug of scrumptious custard an absolute delight. This Chef has a real passion and this is evident in everything he creates. Equally, front of house staff ensure that you are made welcome from the time you enter until the time you leave and nothing is to much trouble. I am reluctant to post this review as I would prefer to keep this gem in Kenilworth's Crown to myself.
