Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a great place to eat. Booked online which was easy to do. Booked for four at 18:15 in the conservatory. Service was spot on. My partner knocked over a full glass of wine. In seconds the lady serving arrived with kitchen paper to mop...it all up No stress at all. Our food arrived in good time, three of us ordered chicken in a basket and one ordered fish and chips. The portions were spot on and the food tasted so good “compliments to the chef “ We are only passing through on our narrowboat otherwise we would have all eaten there again. Thank you to all the staff for making our evening so enjoyable. We will definitely recommend here to our friends and fellow narrowboaters.More

Of all the Sunday lunches we've had in the local area, this is the best yet. We appreciated being asked how we wanted the beef cooked, and it came as requested. The only disappointment was the homemade dessert offered with coffee was extremely dry.

We visited on the 19th May. The weather was glorious and we sat outside. The staff were absolutely lovely and polite, cheerful and attentive. It was great to see young people serving, and doing it with such good will. The food was top notch and...the whole experience here was a pleasure. I would highly recommend and will definitely call here again.More

Tasty food but led down a little by the lack of availability. I understand the website mentions that the online menus only show a sample, so while it was disappointing the lobster macaroni cheese wasn’t an option, there was enough seemingly there. However, a few...things on the limited menu weren’t available either, such as the pizza and stir fry (I heard someone order this when I arrived, so I guess they took the last one, lol). Maybe things are better at the weekend? Also took a while to flag someone down for the bill, though the service was otherwise quick and friendly. It’s still a lovely place so this isn’t meant as a big criticism. Just a little let down by the food availability, as the offerings on the website were what appealed.More

Came here for lunch with friends! My Sunday roast beef was really lovely. Only thing they let it down was being made to feel rushed we were a table of 9 including children . We booked for 12.30 but one of my friends was 10...mins late due to an issue with her child. I was told over again that they needed the table back for 2.30. I think it’s alot to ask 9 people to eat three courses in 2 hours. Luckily we didn’t have starters but it’s not nice feeling rushed. Please allow abit more time between sittings for larger groups as it makes for a more relaxed experience.More

Came for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and found everything excellent so returned this week bringing friends with us. All 5 of us had roast beef which I can honestly say was the best Ive had in a long time. So tender and cooked...beautifully. The vegetables were perfect as were the sides of cauliflower cheese we ordered. Puddings were lovely and staff attentive on both visits. The only negative is the Sunday menu on your website quotes £16 for roast beef which is misleading as it was £18 on Sunday. But it is still definitely our new favourite place for a roast. See you soon!More

Fabulous Sunday lunch, party of 10 adults and 5 dogs👍 Roast pork was lovely, hot and decent portions. In fact everything we ordered was spot on. The dogs even had their own individual bowls of food and wolfed down ever bit.

We often pop in to Tom O The Wood for lunch and 9 times out of ten it doesn't disappoint. Yesterday I had hand battered fish finger and tartar sauce sandwich and can honestly say it was heaven on a plate, fresh bread with lovely...fish in light tempura batter I was delighted. We arrived early but by 1pm it was getting quite busy being Valentines day but service with a smile as always.More

2 ladies of a certain age went to enjoy lunch out. We have been here several times, its a nice friendly place very clean and good atmosphere, nice friendly girl at bar to welcome us, We were Quite disappointed with the meal compared with out...previous visits. We ordered from snack menu, I had southern fried chicken bites burger in GF bun with fries. My friend has pie and mash and hers was ok. 3 tiny bits of ?chicken definitely not breast meat, slimy and stringy! more crumb than filling, very over cooked crumb, the GF bun was falling apart ( everyone knows GF cobs need to be toasted toasted) the fries were soggy and bendy and the meal was almost cold! not very appetising, and my fault for not sending it back straight away but tried to eat and not complain. For desert I had the apple crumble and custard.it was straight out of the oven/ microwave and scalding hot! when cool enough to eat , it was tasty. Minus points also for the attitude of 1 waitress, "whats wrong with it" I will tell the kitchen! When my friend pointed out that my meal was not up to standard, then she slammed the bill on the table and walked away, We waited ages for her to come back so we could pay, and when she didnt, we got the nice girl from the bar to settle the billMore

Not very impressed with my chicken lastnight, I felt the lemon and herb dressing lacked flavour, plus the breast of the chicken was a little dry, presume it had been standing around whilst the rest of the tables food was cooked. Also the waitress when...asked for non alcohol drinks only quoted one larger available couldn't tell me if there were ciders etc. Plus didn't even offer to fond out. So to be honest I don't think we'll be going there again.More
