We have been using St.Johns Fishbar for many years, it is our go to chippy. Never had a bad thing to say about the food apart from today, I have to say the chips were very over cooked and not very warm at all, plus...an extremely small amount for a large portion. I’m hoping this is a one off and will give them another try.More

The food here is consistently good and the staff are really nice. Due to prices now, i have this as a treat rather than regularly and it always hits the spot

I bought 2 x haddock and chips last week and sadly as soon as we cut them open, both haddocks gave off a foul smell and we couldnt eat them. It had clearly gone off. The batter was extremely thick/stodgy and greasy too (notice this...several times here as of late). I will not buy fish here from now on. Shame, as the chips were good.More

Always made to feel welcome and better value than many similar takeaways. The mini fish meal is particularly good value. The batter on the fish is crispy on the outside, but as it is quite thick, the part nearest the fish is a bit mushy....Good chips, though a little greasy.More

LOVE the chicken meat and chips from here, it's definitely my go to takeaway and every time I have been it's been delightful! Really tasty food, lovely friendly service and very fast as well! Food isn't expensive given the portion sizes you get. Only critique...is on the last visit the chicken was dry and the chips were soggy but I'm hoping that was a one off fluke as it's been faultless every other time! If you got just before they are closing they don’t even acknowledge you are in the shop not the first time this has happened last time I go to this chippy if you don’t want business just lock the door Last time!!!!!!!

This is a place of which it's reputation is now greater than its food Service is average Chips are average.. Ie undercooked Batter is WAY too thick...
