I have never before been to a restaurant where there is neither menu nor wine list. Gerald, owner, is an absolute genius; a brilliant and inventive chef and the most genial host. After seven courses, all ingeniously paced and exciting, one left not feeling over-fed...but with the appetite sated.
As a host, he takes the trouble to talk about his cuisine, the sources of his produce and just about anything one could imagine with clarity, passion and bonhomie.
I cannot wait to return, especially as this was also incredible value for money.More
We visited La Mesa for my birthday meal out and so pleased we did, what an amazing meal, so many delightful tastes. There is no menu at all here so every course is a surprise, and what can I say, tastes that tingle all tastebuds...& every course was amazing, the talented Gerard and the waiting staff were all amazing and so very welcoming, we will definitely be booking again xxxMore
From start to finish. A fantastic experience! You feel more like a guest at someones house rather than a paying customer. The menu is a surprise ! You don't know what's coming!! We added in a slight challenge as we had a lactose i ntolerant...guest, but this was accommodated with ease. And the food was so good! Six courses of cuisine. I always want better than i can produce at home, being an enthusiastic cook, and this exceeded all expectations. Wines and drinks offered , some complimentary, some just to taste!. This restaurant wants you to have a great meal and they aRe not out to fleece you. The bill at the end is a treat@More
Food is always fresh and cooked to the highest standards, you can experience perfect tastes. They have also a very good wines. The atmosphere is super nice. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone! We are loving it!!!
We stayed in Warwick for one night and tried to find somewhere for an evening meal. We weren't aware the Races were on, hadn't booked a restaurant and everywhere we tried were fully booked. We found La Mesa totally by accident, looked like drowned rats...and Gordon took pity on us. We had a fantastic meal and dining experience in the room he called the patio, more atmospheric than the main room! Food and service were top rate, enjoyed the idea of the surprise dish which came next! Highly recommended and if we ever get to Warwick again, would definitely book well in advance and have another superb dining experience.More
