Wonderful bakery

Excellent bread, sourdough specialty but also simple white and brown loaves, all at reasonable prices for artisan quality. Home-made style cakes, not just the usual stuff, and also the interesting take-away lunches well worth trying. Always visit when I am in the area.

Loaf cookery school

I went on the sourdough bread course and it was truly excellent. It started with a delicious tea/ coffee with a selection of their breads and pastries to tuck into. We made loads of bread and amazing chocolate cake muffins. We made pizza for our lunch and this was served with salad and garlic bread. We took home some starter to give us a head start with making our own sourdough and a booklet with all the recipes used on the day (plus more recipes) and helpful instructions and reminders of the baking method. As if that was not enough goodness we also brought home a sourdough in its special dish to turn out and bake at home the next day. Highly recommended.

best almond croissants

I have a new favourite pastry at Loaf bakery - the pain au chocolat almond croissant! What a great combo - the dark bitter chocolate goes beautifully with the sweet almond paste, absolutely divine. And normally I hate almond croissants from a supermarket, but at Loaf they are delicious (no fake almond essence/marzipan flavour, thank god!). Thank you!

Poor quality for what I paid

I have heard really good reviews about this bakery so I decided to get a treat during my lunch break. I ordered a brownie however was unable to enter the shop or review the desert before my purchase due to Covid-19 restrictions. I am really disappointed in the quality and presentation of the brownie that I was provided and do not consider that it was worth the £2 that I spent.

Top pastries! Unbeatable quality and quantity.

Taken here by my sister and told it did the best pastries ever... We were not let down! Every time I visit her now this is a must for the weekend - we're still working through all their selection and have to get at least two each, savoury and sweet. Top quality, not at all stingy in their sizing, and friendly service. Love you Loaf!

Cookery courses

I have been on most of there courses bread/thalli thai sushi...and theyve all been brilliant. Will be doing Macarons this week ...and during lock down been able to book and and collect gorgeous fresh bread..I LOVE LOAF. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Never leave Stirchley xx

Real bread, delicious cakes

A wide choice of truly tasty breads. The focaccia is top-notch, and the cakes simply excellent. Quality food at affordable prices, and staff are always very kind and friendly. I am a regular at The Loaf and I can say only good things about them!

Avoid the Cookery school con

Unfortunately I have stopped going here for the bread because of the terrible experience I had when my mum got me a £70 cookery class voucher. After classes being cancelled at short notice (I had already got there!!), then being told I had to go to the revised class a week later or lose my voucher (!!!) - I gave up!! The whole experience was like they were doing me a favour. In the end felt like they had stolen £70. Very poor. Do not go.

Cute little place. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. High standard of teaching in classes and excellent bread and lunches. Check their menu online for daily lunch as just one option per day.

Absolutely Brilliant Thai Cookery Course!

We have just been to a Thai cookery course at Loaf. What a fantastic experience! Run by a wonderful 'foodist' Lap-Fai Lee and ably assisted by the lovely Martha, nine of us prepared, cooked and ate a range of Thai food. The most complicated and time consuming was the beef massaman curry, but the effort was certainly worth it. Among other dishes that we prepared were deep fried sea bass with crispy Thai basil, a dry pork mince curry, sticky rice, som tom Thai (a spicy papaya and carrot salad), yum makeua yao (a smoked aubergine salad with soft boiled eggs) and prik nam pla ra (a spicy pickle). After nearly three hours of chopping, grating, pounding, boiling, frying under Lap's excellent tutelage (his knife skills had to be seen to be believed) with Martha doing an incredible job of clearing up and washing up a mountain of utensils as we went along, we sat down to a real feast of delights that we had the pleasure of knowing that we had created (with a little help!) A great evening, full of fun, laughter, education, great company and fantastic food. We will certainly be back for another cookery course.

Came here to get a sandwich for lunch unfortunately they didn’t have any but instead we brought some amazing focaccia and sausage rolls I have to say sausage rolls were the best I’ve eaten and bread lovely, would come back and hope to try sandwiches next time.

At last, REAL bread!!

We bought our first bread last week and I popped back today to get more. We've only had the white sourdough and the focaccia so far but they are amazing. As I came back today I could smell the bread in my bag and, like I used to as a child, I "picked" at the focaccia, I couldn't resist and it was glorious!! We still have to try the other breads they do, and their cakes, but I'm sure they are going to be of the same standard. I have some food allergies, so to find a bakery that knows exactly what's in their bread is bliss!!
