Akram's Kashmiri Restaurant

I was recommended by a friend to have a business dinner at Akrams.
We booked a table for 4. Great reception spacious seating, decor a little outdated but then again we are here for some authentic Kashmiri dining!...Mango Lassi, nothing to special served in a jug that my grandma had back in the 70’s with humungous ice cubes .
Kashmiri fish for starters, well presented nice and crisp with a great taste.
Prawn purée, sadly tasteless, purée undercooked thick and wet. So that was a no no.
Main dish, lamb and chicken were 7/10 whilst the saag and daal were 6/10, we asked for medium but the flavour was more of a mild. The mixed seafood curry was a disaster, it seemed like the chef threw all the prawns and frozen bits of fish into the pan stir fried, forgot to add the spices or salt and rushed the dish out, garnished with 6 leaves of coriander.
During the meal a young English waiter came up to us and said “Excuse me” in such a loud tone of voice that got us all startled, for a minute we thought our vehicle outside had been robbed! He then proceeded to ask “if everything was ok!
The waiter that cleared the table the poor chap seemed he had just come out of rehab or he was very tired. (You need a day of mate)
For deserts a shabby menu with 6 ice creams, we ordered tea which never came, the frozen kulfi was satisfying.
In for the bill, just shy of £100 all hand scribbled seemed like a written prescription by Dr Singh from the 80’s.
Overall 4/10More
