We visited Syriana for the first time last week and we were blown away by the wonderful food as well as the service. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and recommended some fantastic dishes. The food was served promptly and is excellent value - especially the main courses which are very generous portions. The food is full of flavour and is very authentic Syrian/Lebanese food. They have an abundance of vegetarian and vegan options to suit all diets. Highly recommend visiting if you are in the city centre and are looking for something different!

We visited on a Friday evening for a catch up with friends and were welcomed by the very friendly staff.
The set menu consistrd of a mezze starter, a wide choice of main dishes and Baklava dessert.
There were at least 6 different dishes in the mezze, including delicious dips, crispy falafel and a lovely, fresh tasting salad with pomegranate seeds and mint.
All of the mains we tried were tasty and the portion sizes were generous. The baklava was to die for - warm, crispy, sticky and nutty - just perfect.
You can take your own alcohol along too - the corkage fee is included in the price of the set menu, which at just under £20 a head is excellent value.
We will definitely return.

Me and my partner visited here for the first time for our birthdays, it was mid week on a Wednesday evening so restaurant was pretty quiet.
First of all its decorated beautifully inside accompanied by an upbeat background music of, im guessing Syrian or Arabic music.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and during these crazy times very on the spot with Covid measures, all wearing masks and gloves a d constantly cleaning everything down, made us feel that little bit more comfortable.
Onto the food... We went with the set menu with the starters being a mix of pickles and homous and salad.. We got alot of food between 2 people and every bit of it was delicious. The mains were up next and again the portions were not only generous, but cooked to perfection. I had the seabass and the Mrs had shakeyreh (lamb).
The meal was perfectly finished off with a pot of Mint tea and a selection of Arabic sweets which were again, amazing! With 4 bottles of Lebanese beers the whole lot came to £53...absolute bargain for the amount of food we had.
We are really happy to have tried Syriana and we have put it up there as one of the best restaurants we have eaten at... See you again soon!

This was our first time eating at Syriana and it did not disappoint!
My girlfriend and I both had the set menu which was around £19.50 each and for that we got 7-8 meze’s which included a little bit of everything, Hummus, Falafel, Bread, vegetables, salad etc, it was delicious!
With the set menu you can choose your main so I went for the mixed grill and she had Shakreyeh (as recommended by the owner!). It was a tender lamb dish in a yoghurt and mint sauce and it was amazing.
For dessert it was a selection of Baklava, again it was amazing.
The owner (Zahid I believe his name was - apologies if it is spelt wrong) couldn’t have been more accommodating and he really did make our visit special. My girlfriend was unsure of what main to had and he recommended the Shakreyeh, and even said if she didn’t like it he would change it free of charge, which was a lovely touch.
He really does his best to ensure everybody has a great night and you can see the amount of pride he has in his restaurant and food.
The portion sizes were huge and you get so much food for £19 each. Tea and coffee were also included. There is a small selection of beer and wine but you can also bring your own alcohol.
If you’re wondering whether you should come here or not, I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this to you. We eat in a lot of restaurants and this is easily one of my favourite ones I have ever been to. We are planning on coming back in a few weeks.
Thank you for making the evening so special.

This is the only review I’ve ever done for a restaurant, but it’s such an outstanding place I had to tell others. Not only is the food delicious, the atmosphere is always relaxing and light, and the owner and staff are the friendliest of any restaurant I’ve visited. And we like to eat out! I can’t recommend this place more highly.
Nothing is too much trouble for the owner and our daughter ended up with a free ice cream thanks to his generosity.
If delicious food, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere are up your street, this is your place.

This was our second visit with friends we had recommended it to & they loved it.
Food is excellent. We all had the set menu for £19.95 pp which included the chef’s choice of hot & cold meze & your choice of a main course & Baklava for dessert.
Added bonus is you can take your own alcohol so makes the night even cheaper.
Our waiter Ayman was great too. Couldn’t do enough for us.

The menu is wonderfully varied with a food range of vegetarian and some vegan options. Thew food was served promptly and each dish was really tasty and flavoursome.
The staff were most helpful and friendly, but not excessively!
We were offered complimentary backlava and mint tea after our main course and the former was light and not too sweet and the latter was a refreshing post-dinner drink, expertly poured for us.
The entrance to the restaurant is not particularly inviting, but this should NOT put people off. Once inside the decor and ambience is good. It would have been enhanced further if it had been just a little busier.
This was our first visit, but we will be back. I hope lots more people discover this little gem of a place

Arrived for the first time, not really knowing to expect, I’ve seen a lot of good reviews so was excited to give it a go.
When we arrived we looked at the menu which is pretty varied, we ordered a bottle of Lebanese white wine, it was pretty good (who knew)
Our waiter Aladdin, yeah I know! Suggested a sharing starter, good call, it was mouthwatering as well as large, we weren’t rushed for our mains, which once again Aladdin recommended, both my wife and I had a most impressive meal, our waiter was polite, knowledgable and a great guy too.
In all, it was one of the most enjoyable meals my wife and I have ever had, it was very reasonably priced too and we get about a bit, so we know!

Me and my partner visited this restaurant on a Monday evening, so it was rather quiet but the atmosphere was lovely. The food was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. We ordered cold and hot mezze to share for starter and were given extras on the house, as well as free mint tea at the end of our meal. The staff were attentive, kind and enthusiastic. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and it was nice and warm on a bitter January evening.
Would recommend to anyone; couples, families, and any sort of dietary requirement as the menu had a variety of options for a fair price. A great spot in Birmingham.

A little out of town being in Newtown but so worth the extra 15 minute walk. I reserved this place after a recommendation and they really delivered;
All the food was outstanding, just make sure you go there feeling hungry - the portions are so generous! A first for me but I didn’t finish my main course! The owner also threw in mint tea and baclava free of charge after our meal which was really generous. The service was immaculate too and the friendliness from our waiter and from the owner was the best I’ve found in the city!
My two daughters (13 and 15) found the food as amazing as I did too which I was really pleased about.
Can’t recommend this place enough - mainly for the food and the friendliness. Just outstanding.
And very good value for money too!
Thanks so much - we’ll definitely be back!
Lloyd.

This was my second visit to the Syriana and I was looking forward to the middle east food experience again. I live in Manchester and if this was local to me i would be in here at least once a month. The choice of food is superb, i had a Tabbouleh salad to start, followed by Shakreyeh (Lamb in yoghurt) is was so tasty and full over flavours.
So, do yourself a favour and let your tastebuds have a new experience at very little cost.
The service was a little slow but it was fairly busy.

We realised this evening that Syriana must have been open for at least 13 years, and that we’d been visiting for 12. We’ve not been since the lockdown, but are glad we did, as social distancing is being observed.
The ‘mazza’ (called ‘starters’, but in fact were more than a full meal by themselves) were absolutely superb. There was a selection of (possibly more than) seven dishes, some hot, some cold, but each one prepared that day with absolutely fresh ingredients, and delicately spiced. These included the familiar hummus, the less-familiar moutabal (tenderly smoked aubergine with sesame paste and lemon juice),moussakhan (vegetable moussaka) kibbeh (balls of lamb, minced), a fresh and fragrant tabbouleh and fattoush salads, generous borack pastries with minced lamb and haloumi cheese. This was accompanied by a generous basket of large, delicate breads, baked on a griddle only seconds before. Everything was prepared to perfection.
We are ashamed to say that at first we chose not to opt for a dessert, assuming that these were ‘bought in’, as is the case in so many restaurants. We were assured, nevertheless that the small selection of desserts was home-made. Two portions arrived with a pot of freshly-brewed green and mint tea). This was the highlight of the evening. The baklava was absolutely the very best we’d ever tasted – utterly unlike any of the ersatz baklavas served anywhere else. This was light and creamy, and not too sweet at all. And all prepared with absolutely the finest fresh ingredients.
What was particularly good about Syriana is that the staff are very sincere and pleasant, without being obtrusive or overpowering. It was delightful to that the chef came to talk to us about his food, and to ask whether we had enjoyed the meal. He was only to happy to explain about the food culture of Syria.
For all this, the bill was very reasonable, including drinks. (Alcohol is available, but we did not feel the need on this occasion – the food was too exquisite to think of wine or beer!)
There is a lack of genuinely authentic restaurants in Birmingham which have survived the ravages of the Birmingham economy, and Syriana deserves to be up there in the top five. We will certainly be revisiting very soon!

We used Trip Advisor to find somewhere a bit different than we have on offer in our home town when we visited Birmingham last Saturday. We ordered the set menu, what a wonderful choice we had. The starter was seven starters and flat bread. All were just great. Such tasty food and so different. Not too spicy if you don't like spicy food, but wonderful flavours. There were several choices of main courses. I had a chicken dish and my husband had sea bass. All so tasty, but a bit too much for me. For us and other diners the staff were quite happy to pack it up as a take away and luckily we had a fridge in our hotel room. Baklava for dessert and mint tea were all included - great value for money. The wine and beer was reasonably priced too. Our waitress, Sarah was prompt, bright, cheery and efficient. Highly recommend a visit!

I recently returned from visit to Lebanon, and as food is amazing over there , week later I started craving Lebanese food.
No store bought Humus and falafel would curb the cravings I needed the real thing.
Than acquaintance mentioned Syriana as one of the better eateries in Birmingham.
And he knew what he was talking about. In his previous life spent lots of time in the Levant and near/Middle East so his advice on good eateries was appreciated.
Man! That was best thing I did ! Food is hairbreadth close to the real thing! Silky humus, crunchy falafel, fragrantly marinated meat grilled to perfection. Ok they didn’t carry my fave dish, but hey you can’t have everything. The food was melting in my mouth, everything was seasoned to perfection coming very hot at the table. All reminded me of a particular resto in Byblos..
We had set menus with meze, main dish and desert and tea. I didn’t know ho much I missed Lebanese tea, until I had it again..
Staff is friendly and helpful typical Lebanese hospitality!
Edit: from the first visit until now, I hit the resto additional two times. Food never fail to amaze me.

The outside upper floor looks like the set of 12 monkeys, but don't let that put you off...inside the vibe is friendly and upbeat, the menu? I wanted everything...settled on 3 starters between 2 of us, and, they were BIG...and tasty. Drinks are zingy, main course(delivered a tad slowly, my only complaint) were attractively presented, succulent meat, fresh spices..service was friendly, despite the tardiness. Will definitely go again, I've got a lot more of that menu to work through!
