Unusually, left the booking to a friend for our group of four.
Outside very inauspicious, on a dual carriageway. But we were expecting only a local Italian.
So on looking at the menu, we gobsmacked by full on central London pricing. Like 42 quid for...a main course. (OK it was the special lamb, but still not what we were expecting.)
Anyway we are not especially price sensitive and were already sitting down and hungry, so decided to persevere. Good decision!
Genuinely excellent food cooked to order, backed up by great service. Worth every penny. Fantastic octopus, prawns, and of course the lamb (!)
It was only then we checked TA to find we were in one of the top 20 restaurants in Birmingham. Result!
There is no cheap wine. Only good wine reasonably priced. The restaurant is small so they really need a high minimum spend and cannot waste tables on people coming in to share a garlic bread! But just ignore the face value, and enjoy.
The four of us ate two courses each, shared two bottles of good wine, some free limoncello, and it was ~£260. So not actually bad at all.
