I have lost count of how many times we have been now, so feel terrible that this review is being left after so many visits. But needless to say, we are seasoned visitors now and we cannot get enough of the place. I was constantly waiting for it to reopen during the lockdown which kept me away from this amazing eatery, and as soon as we could get delivery, we did! I have a friend who is exceptionally critical of food, and so I was worried about taking her in case she found fault with my little gem of a restaurant. Needless to say, my friend is now offended if she finds out we have gone without her! I always want to try something different but the word 'carbonara' always rolls off the tongue when the helpful and friendly waiter comes to take our order. But having tried my more adventurous party's dishes (because they are always more brave to try new things than me when they order!) I can safely say that every care is taken in each dish to be the most wonderful food you can hope to try. Its homely, yet sophisticated, great size portions, and no job is too hard for them. My gluten free husband is always catered for, including still being able to enjoy a delicious and gooey melt in the middle chocolate desert. The decor and design of the setting is so wonderful to admire whilst you eat, and the Fogo lemonade is a must for refreshing your palette! Having eaten in some truly beautiful restaurants in Rome, I can honesty say that the food at Fogo is definitely on parr (or dare I say better!) We are happy to be regulars and look forward to introducing even more friends and family to this gem of a place.

My boyfriend and I had been a couple of times before after seeing the brilliant reviews on trip advisor and absolutely fell in love with this restaurant. Once you’ve been before you’re always greeted like a friend and made to feel at home. The food is absolutely sublime every single time we’ve been so we decided we would come here for our last meal before going back into lock down, and we bought my parents with us who have experienced dining at its absolute finest and are extremely fussy! When you walk in the restaurant has such a lovely warm atmosphere and you are greeted with a smile by Mario and shown to your table. They gave us the menu and came over within a couple of minutes to ask us what we’d like to drink and they were brilliant at advising on what wines would go with each dish. We always order the burrata to start, the flavours are absolutely incredible! We ordered the bruschetta, and the asparagus wrapped in Parma ham and we also ordered some calamari as my dad loves sea food. Everything was freshly cooked and tasted amazing! I’m not normally a fan of tomatoes just on their own but these tomatoes are so sweet and just amazing! For main I had the seabass which came with roast new potatoes, asparagus, green beens, peppers and tomatoes, the fish was so delicious and crispy! Both my parents ordered the lamb cutlets which came with potato gratin and green beans, tomatoes and peppers, they also had a red wine which was called montepulciano, it was smooth and matched perfectly! My boyfriend ordered a pasta dish called tagliatelle panza with fresh chilli, and because we’re greedy we also had some chips with it haha! Everything was so delicious! To finish we had a chocolate soufflé, and a tiramisu with ice cream. Which were also stunning! The chef came out and chatted to us after we’d finished which we thought was a lovely touch! It was great to put a face to the amazing food we had been served. What a stubning last dinner before going back into lockdown. My parents haven’t stopped raving about it either and we can’t wait to return once we’re allowed back out again! We’ve been told fogo are delivering and offering take out service so we’ll definitely be using this! Thank you fogo we can’t wait to see you again soon!

Just finished an amazing meal at fogo in Birmingham. I have eaten at a fair few Italian restaurant around the world and even a few in Italy itself. This one I concidered one of the best, the food was divine. The food price was a little higher than other restaurant but it's well worth every single cent and the service was top notch and made our meal even better.

Eaten her once before and everything was amazing, recommended it to loads of people on that fact. This time however was very poor, only people in the restaurant and had to wait an hour for our food to come, they also messed up the rarity with our meals. No apology was given when the food arrived after an hour and then no check back was given throughout the meal. Didn't have any desserts or coffees and left shortly after feeling rather deflated. Won't be returning.

My partner and I were highly anticipating our visit to Fogos as kt was our first time and given then reviews and their social media, the food and service looked great. We arrived and had a warm welcome from the manager Mario, we ordered our food with the waitress but she didn't seem to understand alot of what I was asking but we got there in the end. I asked to swap out mushrooms from my pizza for sundried tomatoes instead and asked if it would be possible to have the addition of jalapenos which I would have happily paid the extra. She said she wasn't sure if they would be able to add extra but she said she would ask, which I never received a response for. When my pizza arrived, I noticed there were cherry tomatoes qnd not sundried tomatoes and I did not rec the Requested jalapenos which I think is a shame as it would have showed they went the extra mile. The chicken was rubbery also, I did not enjoy this dish. However the prawn starter was fab and my partner and I thoro enjoyed it. The mains let us down, he had a steak and the accompaniments weren't great, the Carrots resembled frozen Carrots from the local supermarket which was a real shame. The check back service was average, we were left alone for quite some time once the mains were served, we weren't asked if we would like anymore drinks or even if we'd like to look at the dessert menu before the kitchen closed. I got the feeling we were left alone so long so that dessert didn't need to be an option as the kitchen closed and the chef left around 10pm. After a very long while just sitting there we moved our empty dishes to the end of the table to prompt that we had finished. Mario had cleaned the tables and brought us over the bill without a word. I asked if they had a dessert menu and he said no, the kitchen is closed. Unfortunately, due to these extra details they lost out on additional income and a repeat visit from us which is a real shame. Customer service and attention to detail need to be looked at.

This was my first visit to Fogo and I was very impressed. The service was quick and efficient, the safety measures well though out and most importantly, the food was very good indeed. We had a pasta and pizza, both of which were presented and cooked expertly. I ordered the burrata pizza and was not disappointed! (photo attached). My daughter enjoyed her lasagne and melting chocolate fondant for dessert. We will return!

At first, I was surprised by the price increase from what was posted online in the past, but oh my goodness this place knows what their worth is because it IS SO DELICIOUS! Can't fault them at all for increasing the price. It's like expecting a Chanel bag to sell at it's old price before it became famous and a luxury brand - c'mon people you gotta give the chef due credit! Moreover, cost of everything is going up - this is known globally. The food is really one of the best italian we've had and you can tell how much they care about the quality. The chef and staff are friendly and will check in to ask if all is good, they also give instructions to delivery guys on how to store or hold the food. The chef came out and shared with us that this is a family business and they all care about the quality of food 👍

Fogo is tucked away in a row of shops and you'd hardly notice it driving past. 4 of us, various ages ate here on a Friday evening and had a lovely meal. I had a great pizza and everyone had something different but all enjoyed their choice. Desserts were very good too. Service was good and and nice cosy atmosphere. So food was very good but found it a little pricey so you wouldn't just drop in for a casual meal cost for 4 with 1 drink each £127

Overpriced for what they serve. They claim to know how Italian cuisine tastes, yet are a bunch of middle easterners who try to re-invent authentic Italian with no knowledge or concept of the food. You’d be a fool to eat Italian here. Better off going to San Carlos or Fumo in town. Very disappointed.

Very good atmoshere created by its relatively small size and the friendly welcoming staff. Food is very fresh, well presented, petfectly seasoned and very tasty. I doubt there is a better Italian restaurant in Birmingham. The wine list is OK and not unreasonably priced. Look forward to returning soon.

Small restaurant with a very personal service. Food was generally pretty good and the pasta dishes particularly tasty. Did feel we were having a sales jos done on us with regard to the wine. However now we have been here we have a better idea of what this restaurant offers and is about for next time we will enjoy it a lot more.

Absolutely stunning Italian food. Everything was extremely tasty, well presented and extremely well cooked. Lovely, friendly & professional service. Great, intimate, well presented venue. All 4 of us ate absolutely everything on our plates. Portion sizes were generous, but not so big as to cause waste. My smoked chicken tagliatelle in a creamy sauce with asparagus was delicious. Texture was superb, - didn’t spatter everywhere as I wound the pasta around my fork! Sauce was flavoursome but not too rich, the asparagus was not soggy and not underdone. Just perfect. The burr at a starter was perfect shared between 2 and the parmigiana spot on. The beef stroganoff main was excellent with superbly cooked grilled veg and exceptionally good dauphinoise potatoes. Wine was delicious if a tad pricey. We couldn’t manage dessert. The live music was a brilliant bonus, although being a small restaurant it was perhaps a bit loud. But an excellent evening. Not a cheap night out, but definitely worth it. We will be back

Great small unpretentious independent Italian Restaurant. A real breath of fresh air that deserves to succeed as serves up great freshly made pasta / pizza . We’ve eaten there 3 times now & each time the food’s been excellent. Anyone on soft drinks needs to check out the homemade lemonade which is really fresh & jests. Good car parking either out the back or on the side streets immediately opposite on the other side of the Hagley Rd.

I did not end up dining at this restaurant but resulted in writing this negative review as felt much needed. Despite the high rating and reviews online, I will not return and definitely will not recommend this restaurant to any family and friends. The walk in experience was rather insulting and disappointing. Greeted by a young lady of poor manner, no hi hello but "you can sit over there" pointed at a table and chair without a courtesy smile and a drop of politeness. A menu was dropped on the table with some attitude. We sat waiting for 15 minutes, despite being very patient and constantly giving the look that we are read to order, both the staff and the owner seemed not to care but happy cleaning glasses, clearing other plates from other table, giving little glance as if we do not exist in their restaurant despite both of them knew we were ready to order. At this point, no one even attended for a drink order yet. We gave a few more minutes and decided to get up to leave after being ignored, and the owner came to open the locked door without a concern or an apology, this just re-affirmed that we definitely were not welcome. The "do not welcome business attitude" is very well noted hence this review made it to this page! The restaurant was not busy, merely 3 tables were seated. The lack of basic hospitality by the owner and staff would NEVER make up for the dining experience despite whatever quality of the food they offer. We ended up walking in Colbeh restaurant a few doors down and had the warmest greeting, fast service, polite and attentive staff and more important absolutely delicious food - this definitely made it up for the night. The lamb shank was just too good I forgot to even take the photo so just sharing the seabass. Highly recommended to try out this restaurant if Fogo does not welcome you!

I can see why this restaurant is so highly ranked in Birmingham - let’s get the negatives out of the way first, it’s not the cheapest restaurant I’ve ever been to. That’s it for the negatives! I am more than happy to pay a bit more for fantastic food, friendly service , a lovely atmosphere and the ability to watch you Todd being prepared and cooked. If you are anywhere near, you really need to visit Fogo - if I was in Birmingham I wouldn’t want to eat any where else. Just brilliant, don’t change a thing!
