Was taken here as a birthday meal and absolutely loved it. Every course was incredible, the staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was perfect. It felt like a treat but it was unpretentious. Prices were as you'd expect at a Michellin-starred restaurant and we weren't rushed out, even though we were the last to leave. Just be sure to book... More

We visited just before Christmas whilst staying in Birmingham. A 15 min drive from the centre, this is an unassuming small restaurant with a lot of flavour! we went for the 5 course tasting menu which was great. Highlight for me was the deconstructed treacle tart. With the snacks at the start, it's more like 9 courses! Delicious bread too.... More

Of the five Michelin-starred restaurants in Birmingham this was the last we had to visit. Things started well, the service was good and we were especially impressed with the wine list and the helpful sommelier. There is a superb range by the glass and lots of unusual options. The food however was a really mixed bag. A squid course was... More

We had been invited to visit Carters with family and friend for a NYE Dinner. Newly recognised with a Michelin Star we were told to expect a different style of food and presentation, fresh ingredients and natural flavour combinations that would delight. Having previously experienced the NYE shortcomings of very expensive Michelin Star restaurants all too keen to get you... More

Yes our second visit was as good as if not better than the first. The cuisine and wines presented was utterly scrumptious. Can't wait return again.

My husband and I took our daughter and her boyfriend as Christmas presents to each other in between Christmas and new year. Two of us are pescatarian and two of us not. Hubby was driving and daughters boyfriend prefers cider to wine so we had a couple of nice bottle for daughter and I throughout evening rather than a wine... More

We were a party of 5 - one non-drinking vegetarian, so the £120 pc is the cost for 4 moderate drinkers on the 5 course lunch menu. The meal was impossible to fault in anyway. A great variety of textures & flavours. Certainly a great place to go for a special meal. Good, and not ridiculously expensive, varied wine list.... More

We booked lunch at Carters between Christmas and the New Year. We chose the 7 course tasting menu and were not disappointed. Wonderful cooking, unusual flavours and great, relaxed service made for a memorable meal. Thoroughly enjoyed our post Christmas treat. Would highly recommend.

Frankly quite disappointed with the food served up - not one dish was particularly unique and a couple of concerns over the kitchen (one cooking related and one attitude). Went for the full tasting menu (but nearly did not). Highlighted a dislike of beetroot when we booked the table (along with an allergy to scallops). Unfortunately beetroot was on the... More
