Very attentive and helpful staff asked 3 times for our order
Asked a question about the food and an example was delivered to the table to see.
Plates to table within 10mins
The ham egg and chips amazed with 3 thick slices of ham
The salad and home made flat bread a good portion of rice with tahini sauce.
Great cup of tea and the coffee excellent.

It's not perfect, there's a hint of unprofessionalism lurking, sometimes deeply to be fair, in a lot of the staff. But the food whilst steady rather than spectacular, usually tastes very good and, depending on taste of course, the omnipresent live entertainment drawn from many spheres and genres, is frequently excellent.
A tidy little venue all in all!

The Kitchen Garden is a lovely oasis of charm and calm in Kings Heath, Birmingham. They’ve got eating out while distancing down to a fine art. The approach to the restaurant is through a beautiful walkway of plants for sale, past The Shed, which sells art by local artists, to the restaurant itself. They’ve covered the outside and installed heaters. Each Individual seated area is contained by trees and plants. It’s comfortable and warm, inside is a delight too with more art for sale on every wall. The food is always fresh and delicious. The staff are attentive. We went expecting the kiddies play area to be up, but understandably it wasn’t, due to Covid. Seeing our disappointment they provided a big tub of toys and our little grandson played happily. Just go, you won’t be disappointed.

I wouldn't normally write a bad review, i just don't write one, but having been charged £1.50 for an extra yorkshire that was an small Aunt Bessie or packet one, it bugged me.
You get a generous portion of meat that was ruined because it was as dry as a bone, three slices of carrot, five green beans, 2 potatoes, don't call them roast please. £12 is way over priced, the quality of the food is poor, the amount you get is shocking. Is anyone looking at the plates before they go out to the customer ?
My partner had pork with so much fat on it was ridiculous. She never complains, but even she said outside it was terrible.
Team, make your own Yorkshire's. Make proper roast potatoes and give the customer more than 2, the 3 tiny, tiny, new potatoes aren't a substitute !! a few more veg and charge £15 you'll get far more people leaving positive feedback. Guaranteed.
You have such beautiful unique surroundings I was excited at having a meal. i left, well i think you can tell. So sorry, but I really hope you take feedback on board. I heard this place used to be fantastic and the food was lovely. So what happened ?

I took my friend who's here from brazil for tea and chocolate orange cake- so yummy
the cakes are either homemade or ordered from a bakery, during these testing times its still safe to come here, social distancing on tables and very clean.
its one of my fav places for coffee n cake, the staff were lovely and so friendly with top service, cant fault anything , I defo recommend this place and feel at ease coming here regardless.
food is amazing too, and perfect for vegetarian's and vegans, all food is cooked on premises and fresh.
NHS staff discount so they appreciate us too but regardless i would pay full price and support this lovely little business which i have watched grow from scratch.
Deserves 5 stars with all the hard work put into build this little haven

The Kitchen Garden Cafe have securely covered over their outdoor patio with secure tarpaulin and added heaters so people from different households can dine safely and comfortably. This is a pleasant environment to sit in and safe. There are not many places where it is possible to meet friends from different households at the moment as the weather gets colder so I would definitely recommend this.
The food and service were, as usual, excellent.

This place could be such a little gem in Kings Heath. Unfortunately the quality of the food lets it down. It has great staff, really good Covid policy, a lovely environment, but the food is very poor. The menu seems to cater for vegans, gluten free etc and seems appealing. The reality is poor quality ingredients, no thought of how things look or taste and pricey. It is a wasted opportunity. I won’t be eating there again.

We waited about 50 minutes for our lunch. The vegetarian Breakfast was missing both spinach and mushrooms- when we asked they just said they were out and offered to replace with some more toast... The vegetarian roasts were tiny portions of what looked like a freezer nut roast and one tiny yorshire pudding (not what was pictured in the advertising). Another table had the same dish but a much larger portion which was odd. The classic breakfast was very nice. Once we asked we got the price of our drinks taken off. There really wasnt any interaction from waiters while we were waiting- and we only got an update about it running late only once we asked. No one apologised when we asked about the missing items in the breakfast. Overall very frustrating!

From start to beyond Naomi and her team were amazing! Having to postpone due to COVID lockdown and last minute restricted numbers we ended up planning 3 times but Naomi took all the stress out of it. Everything we asked for she delivered and was amazing on the day. We started off in Fletchers bar for welcome drinks and then moved into Kitchen Garden for a traditional fish and chips meal and later afternoon tea. Food was amazing. There are also great photo opportunities with their twinkly lights and rustic feel. We had the most wonderful special day. Thank you Naomi and KG team ❤️

£12 roast... Ran out of Yorkshires, lumpy mash, dry beige roasties (May aswell be boiled potatoes), mushy boiled vegetables, rock hard stuffing... No mince sauce on site?! The gravy was nice in fairness and the beef was bang average. I'm a terrible cook but I can even do better than that. Really disappointed and had to complain which I never normally do. They knocked some money off the bill but I still wouldn't return. Such a shame as the venue is gorgeous.
I am still shocked whoever served that wasn't embarrassed at the plate as it was just slopped on

We were over the moon with our Wedding Reception at the Café. After several postponements because of the Pandemic, and having to navigate the changing rules and regulations every 5 minutes, Naomi and the team managed to pull it off without a hitch. We held a Humanist Ceremony ( Thanks EvolutionaryWeddings!) after a Registry Office Civil Ceremony a few months prior, again due to the pandemic, and it was a wonderfully intimate evening for 50 guests. We had a BBQ reception (Burgers, hot dogs, chicken skewers, salad, coleslaw etc and fab vegetarian options) and the food and drinks service went down a treat - lots of compliments. You really can make it your own though as Naomi and the team are very flexible and accommodating.
Wedding planning is stressful enough, never mind during a pandemic, but Naomi was so understanding and quick to respond to our communications. Its such a great venue for a relaxed, chilled out reception in a rustic cottage garden style setting - one which you really can personalise to how you want it. The Café has such a friendly, polite, incredibly hard working team and we really can't thank them enough.

Portion size was awful considering the cost charging. I had the stuffed pepper with halloumi. The amount of halloumi was minuscule, wouldn’t describe it as “stuffed”pepper at all, was tiny almost like they were stretching out the food. Accompanied by tiny salad, coffee again was small cup for the price. My friends smoked salmon bagel again was expensive for what came - charging nearly £8 for either was a bit insulting tbh.. Toilets were not exactly clean either which at this time especially is a major no no for me.

ANOTHER disappointing experience in Garden Cafe. I only keep returning because it’s the best option for brunch in kings Heath and they have dairy free options, but every time there’s multiple problems and i think this time I give up.
Warned when we ordered that the food would take 30-45 minutes, ridiculous for such simple food when there weren’t many people there and most seemed to already have their food, but we said it was fine and ordered anyway.
Drinks on the other hand took 20 minutes to come, when we could clearly see the staff standing around in the counter area. Charged for tea for 2, but got a one portion teapot.
Our food arrived and the potato hash was actually a TINY baked potato (not as described and a rip off). Both breakfasts were missing mushrooms and the beans were on top of the bacon soo it was soggy. Asked for mayo and 10 minutes later had to go to the counter and ask again. Pointed out I was half way through my food already so had to come looking and got an eye roll.
Two minutes after placing the initial food and drinks order, went back up and ordered an extra two drinks. Over the course of our stay asked for them two more times and then they finally arrived when we were long finished and about to stand up to leave. I said I didn’t want them anymore and got a cheeky “Fine” Like I was being unreasonable. I then waited for them to come refund me and had to go to the counter and ask in the end.
As usual there was no toilet roll in either toilet and both were disgustingly dirty.
When at the counter looking for the refund for the drinks I pointed out all the issues we’d had and got a very cheeky response, without any glimmer of a genuine apology. Annoyed by this I said “I’m not being unreasonable or nasty, every time I come here there’s a problem”, to which the girl serving made a face and said “I agree. There’s systemic issues”…
Previous time I was here along with the usual service disasters, I ordered two dairy free flat whites and two breakfasts. They asked were there any allergies, to which I said yes, dairy free, lactose intolerant. When the breakfast came (eventually) the mushrooms had been cooked in butter and the toast was buttered. When I pointed it out, as usual got a cheeky reaction like I was being unreasonable. I said I’d just take the mushrooms off if I could have fresh unbuttered toast but they insisted on taking my whole plate and ages later when the person I was with was long finished arrived back with my replacement.
Nice place but seriously sort the service out and portion the food in accordance with the pricing.

We really can't praise Kitchen Garden Cafe enough for the amazing wedding reception they put on for us. Naomi and Kayleigh were endlessly helpful and super fast at responding to all of our many queries on the lead-up. We even had a lot of last-minute changes, right up to the day before the reception, and they did everything they could to accomodate those and to make things easy and stress-free for us.
The day went absolutely perfectly, and we felt so looked after by Kayleigh and the team on the night. Our guests can't stop talking about how lovely the staff were, how welcome they all felt and how great the food was. Kayleigh made us feel comfortable that everything was under control and let us just relax and enjoy our night knowing everything was taken care of. We wanted a laid back event and that's exactly what they delivered.
The team decorated the venue even better than we imagined and we were super happy with everything. We couldn't have chosen a better venue and we had such a great time we just wish we could come back and do it all again!

Visited recently for a wedding party. Venue looked very nice and homely but was really cold throughout our stay. Food came out all at different times so some guests had finished before others had started, food was quite disappointing and basic. Staff friendly and doing their best.
A nice venue, would visit again for drinks but not food.
