Went to The Village last night for the first time in a long time. Firstly we noticed that the pub had been refurbished and looked very smart. The service was very efficient and friendly. I ordered the lasagne which was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and...very tasty. My husband ordered the hake and he said his dish was very good too. I'm wondering if they have a new chef since lockdown as the standard of food was far higher than the last time we visited. We felt it was more restaurant standard food than pub food and all very reasonably priced. We shall be visiting again soon!More

Normally a great venue but went for a quick drink and won’t go back. Only wanted a Bloody Mary and a pint but was informed they didn’t have the right ingredients to make it. In the end got a watery vodka and tomato juice (no...lime, Tabasco or Worcs sauce apparently) and a pInt for £14. To top it all the surly barmaid took 10 minutes to deliver the round. ShockingMore

Excellent service and food from The Village Pub. They were not fazed by a group of 15 booked at 24hrs notice. Nor when we later brought the time forward by an hour. They were efficiency itself and had all meals ready on time as we...had pre-ordered. The food was very good, tasty and plentiful. Everyone in our party was impressed and commented what a pleasure the whole visit had been. Well done all. To quote Arnie: “We’ll be back!!”More

Was looking forward to eating at The Village Moseley as we had eaten well here pre-lockdowns. Some of what they brought out of the kitchen was average but some of it was just an EMBRASSMENT. The ‘pizza’ was a DISASTER. A strange combination of mis-shapen...pastry (not dough) sitting soggily under a pool of oily, powsery cheddar and raw sliced tomato. Immediately unappeaing and even worse to the taste. My companion also ordered a pizza which he left quite a lot of uneaten (but the lengthy wait on food from the kitchen had left him hungry). I was offered an alternative but at that stage I had lost faith in the capabilities of the kitchen staff to cook anything that was worth my while chewing. The cost of this and our other badly-cooked, returned-to-the-kitchen dish (rubbery bullet prawns) were refunded but no other compensation was offered. Kitchen staff please note: If you aren’t able to cook something to an edible standard then it shouldn’t be on the menu. No I won’t be back.More

Well, what can be said? It’s apparent that there’s a staff shortage. Has this place been devastated by the ping ping of the NHS App if so I can only assume it’s the chef that’s been told to isolate!! Front of house doing their best,...I suppose. But the must have known what was going on, not once did they ask how the food was. Only the salad passed muster. A group of 8 and only 2 main meals (salads) eaten fully. Over cooked prawns, cold mains and raw veg. Pizza ??? Do you know how to make a pizza base? A biscuit type base soaked in the fat from the melted cheese, does not a pizza make. In the past the food was good! BUT - until this place bucks up we will not be backMore

Really poor service initially. We arrived and asked if table service was available. “ No order at the bar” was the sniffy answer, despite there being more staff than customers. No one bothered to ask if we planned to eat ( we were so sat...down in the restaurant. Things then improved. The new waitress, who explained that she had only started 30 minutes earlier was sent over with no support. She was very friendly and took our orders with no mistakes. Our food was average but perfectly edible and we enjoyed a pleasant lunch in a very very quiet restaurant. There poor service at the start nearly lost the owners two customers and nearly £80 in income. The existing staff could learn a lot from the new staff.More

Nice place, had a big screen in the back for football. Food was ok ... I had the sausage sandwich, my wife had a burger - enjoyed both. The fries that came with were awful - overcooked and therefore too crunchy. Service was also slow...- 2 people on for a Friday lunch serviceMore

Terrible food, really. A very dry halloumi burger advertised as coming with slaw and pickle. Well both were laughable. The slaw was about half a mouthful of some grey viscous unidentifiable substance and the pickle consisted of 2 limp wafer thin slices of gherkin. Never...been before, will never go againMore
