I'm a regular, even though I normally go only once a year in September. If I'm in the area as I was this Sunday, I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. With a lovely pint of Hobgoblin, which I can't find locally, I had roast pork...More
We went for a late lunch and had a very nice sandwich using their own delicious home baked bread. Plenty of choice on the menu and a good selection of ales, good service and lovely views of the canal from your table - what’s not...More
We stopped at the Tap and Spile on a Sunday evening, drawn by its canalside location.
Hubby had a delicious gammon steak, thick and juicy. I had the veggie pizza, which is probably the best pizza I’ve ever eaten - full of flavour.
Visited in the early evening for a meal having had a fairly good meal there once before.
Old Peculiar beer was flat - disappointing.
Steak was fairly good.
Maybe atmosphere picks up in the evening.
Service was competent.
