We were staying nearby for 4 nights and enjoyed our experience so much after our first visit we returned a further two times. We had the daily special meals including a drink on each occasion. The service we received was excellent from the very friendly...and efficient team. We had never visited before and were told that the original Tap and Spire closed and had been refurbished recently opening again about a month ago under new management. It has been tastefully done and is in a great setting by the canalside. Just a shame that alcohol cannot be served on the outside tables. This will be our first stop on our return. Thank you to the excellent team serving us.More
My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around the Gas Street Basin canal area and dropped intp probably the most famous pub in this area namely The Tap & Spile Pub .
This pub looks awesome, set over two floors, very traditional ,...lots of wood features, great decor and furnishings including a superb looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling canal area .
We were here on a Friday night, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name and phone number to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands, after a quick study of their real ale's we both opted to have Wychwood Brewery " hobgoblin gold " and these pale ale's were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great pub we were in.
My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, hints of toffee and a big hit of hops, very easy to drink, a real ale style both myself and my twin brother Stephen are particularly fond of.
We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time.

Lovely little pub/restaurant right on the canal towpath. The best thing?? The Pisco cocktail authentically made by a lovely Peruvian woman. Absolutely amazing 😍😍 If you love a proper cocktail then you should definitely try this!! We’ll be back again later 😁
