Good location in the heart of China Town. Efficient staff and very quick service but did lack any rapport or banter. Food very good and tasty and the restaurant was full so obviously very popular. Excellent range on the menu.

Based on this visit, my first in around 15 years, Chung Ying is living on reputation alone. Other than a decent crispy duck and a couple of ok main courses, the food was dry and dull. Service was good and they have a reasonably priced wine list but food wise; Prawn Toast - overcooked and brittle Seaweed - burnt Paper... More

A warm welcome, really tasty food, pleasant atmosphere, at a good price. Could not ask for anything more.

Not been to Chung Ying for a few years and it was great to be back. The food quality has not changed. We decided to go for one of the set meal options which proved to be great value for money. This was Sunday lunchtime and we shared the restaurant with many Chinese families that had come for lunch which... More

The food is excellent, the service is good, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the prices are reasonable. It's not a cool, romantic night out, it's not trying to be. It's a functional slightly old fashioned restaurant where they cook traditional food from an extensive menu. I'll go back again next time I'm in Brum.

My family and I had the worst Chinese meal and experience at this restaurant. After a long wait, we were sat upstairs, and ignored for half an hour. When we finally ordered, the starters took over half an hour to make it to our table. Eating off saucers isn't great either. The starters were bland and not very warm. After... More

Went here as invitee of large group. Attention from staff was excellent, food and drinks flowed seamlessly even though restaurant was extremely busy. The usual culprits of Shredded Duck, Wafer Wrapped King Prawn, Prawn Toast etc were all excellent. The Hot & Sour Soup was particularly good. Other courses were all excellent. I believe each person in our group was... More

Visited with work colleagues after a trade show. We had scallops to start with and then Steamed Sea Bass, with ginger, soy sauce and chives. Really delicious. The vegetables were really good too!

Place was tired and dirty, order was incorrect, food was bland and poorly presented... to say it was China Town... very disappointing!

Came here for a birthday lunch, somewhere everyone else in my party had been to before, and my first visit. The service was really quite poor and I felt so sorry for my best friend who's birthday it was. We'd come here because she and her family had always enjoyed it and she was so very disappointed. Whilst some of... More
