Ate here only because it was the only place that was still serving. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The salt and pepper ribs were gorgeous, very tasty and crispy, the meat just fell off the bone. The mains sweet n sour chicken and. Crispy...shredded beef in chilli sauce were ok, nothing special, the beef was over crispy, so much so there wasn’t much beef to be had. Would eat here again if needed.More

We’ve been here often and love this restaurant! Yesterday the 22nd of April we were here again and it was outstanding! The atmosphere reminds us of Kowloon and Hong Kong when we lived there! The food is real Chinese food and not British Chinese! The...food is totally packed with flavour, cooked to perfection and covers everyone’s taste! The staff are friendly, they are always helpful, knowledgeable and always willing to help and advise! It really is a gem of a restaurant and totally worth a visit!!More

A party of 6 of us enjoyed the traditional Cantonese cuisine. The portions were very generous, we over ordered but managed to eat nearly everything. Friendly staff made us welcome.

We have been visiting the Chung Ying Restaurants for many years now for various events family meals and hosting clients. It is a unique treat in the City to enjoy food that not only always maintains its amazing standard of fantastic food, but every time...we visit there is something new to try out. The staff have always been super welcoming, and even stayed on to enjoy the Karaoke on many an occasion. We have booked our business Christmas Party at Chung Ying for 35 of our team members, and we are really looking forward to a great day ahead. Thanks for organising Will.More

Amazing restaurant! Chung Ying is the perfect way to spend a night out, it is located right in the heart of Chinatown in Birmingham's "entertainment" centre, just across from the Arcadian Centre and a stone's throw away from the Hippodrome. We were sat in the...outside, covered seating area which was comfortable and although we had arrived ten minutes late (train delayed) it was no problem. Staff were professional, attentive and friendly. They allowed us to make a change to the set menu and we didn't once have to pour a glass of wine because they topped our glasses up regularly. Amazing rendition of Happy Birthday which brought the house down. Lovely atmosphere, will absolutely be returning!!More

Delish meal. Short wait for a table but wasn't a problem - was worth the wait. Loved the vegetarian spring rolls. Would come back again for sure.

I was so excited to find a Chinese restaurant with a gluten-free menu, so booked a table before a show at The Hippodrome. What a disappointment - there was a good choice of gluten-free items, but everything we ordered, both g-f and not, was lukewarm....Crispy duck was dry and had obviously been sitting under a lamp for a while - it wasn’t shredded at the table which is what happens at our favourite restaurants in Liverpool. Spring rolls were served on a few bits of shredded limp cabbage and carrot, no dipping sauce provided - we had to ask for some and they were horrible. Gluten-free chicken in honey & lemon sauce was overcooked, sauce was cloying and synthetic tasting, even the rice was overcooked and lukewarm. We left a fair bit. We weren’t asked at any point if the food was ok - we didn’t say anything as we had to get to the show - if we’d had more time I would have sent it back. A 10% service charge was automatically added to the already expensive bill, for grumpy inattentive service. If you don’t need gluten-free food, there are numerous other places nearby, many of which would undoubtedly be better than this place. If you are Coeliac, find somewhere else, or pack a picnic. Won’t be back, needless to say.More

This was the best looking place in the "Chinese Quarter". We got there about 8pm and had to sit outside, rather than in the more interesting looking dining room, because "the kitchen closes at 8.30pm". We were also told that "all the dishes will come...at once". The food itself was nice enough and portions generous. Service was very personable, but it wasn't a relaxing experience. Might be a better option for lunch.More
