Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday night on a solo trip with work. Was quickly shown to a table. I ordered the chicken jalfrezi with a garlic naan and onion bhajis with a pint of Cobra and a coke. The Jalfrezi and bhajis were...very good, the bread was great but could have done with some ghee or melted butter with the garlic which was diced on top. The waiters and service were good and there’s a nice view over the canal if you’re lucky enough to get the right table. It came to around £30, which I think was good value.More

Was escorted to our table and then was left for approximately 15 minutes! No drink no order! The place was not full so no excuse! We waited another 5 minutes and then decided to leave!! Well spoilt our weekend because now we are struggling to...get in anywhere!More

Beautiful food, really nicely presented, hot and tasty. Only gripe is half pint of soda ( to add to wine) is £3.25!!!! Hence 4* not 5. I mean, come on, a bottle is 70p! Maybe think twice about returning

The climb up the stairs is well worth it. Views over Black Sabbath Bridge, and food to savour. Good selection of food and wine. Great service too. All in all, great value.

We were staying just around the corner and looking for somewhere to eat, after reading the reviews we settled on this place. The staff were all excellent, friendly and efficient. The restaurant was on a bridge over the canal so lovely views of the city...and the food was delicious. You won't be disappointed with a visit to Barajee!More

We wanted to have a meal after watching Peter Kay which finished at 10.30 pm .This was a short walk on Broad Street and was open until 12 I think. The restaurant was a little dated and the music from the pub below was a...little thumping but all was forgiven as the food was absolutely spot on full off flavour with all the Favourites. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely return when we are next in BirminghamMore

A trip to Birmingham could only mean one dinner option - a good curry. If only we’d had one! To say Barajee was a disappointment would be an understatement. We arrived for our 1800 reservation - the place was packed. We waited for ages for...our order to be taken, there was no offer of drinks while we were looking at the menu, our poppadoms took a further 15 minutes and they were almost finished by the time we got our drinks (after reminding the waiter that we’d not had them). Prawn puri starters were just ok - not exactly a fluffy puri and with no presentation effort. Drinks finished, we asked for another. They didn’t come so we asked again. Nope, still no drinks. Only when I had 2 mouthfuls of my main course left did someone approach and ask whether we’d like to order more drinks. Main courses - mine wasn’t what I ordered - chicken balti instead of chicken tikka balti. And it wasn’t a proper balti either, just a very bland curry in a balti-shaped dish. Naans were barely warm, barely cooked, floppy, soggy and sad looking. The only tasty thing was the tarka dhal. When my main was almost finished, the guy who finally offered drinks asked whether all was ok. I pointed out that I’d not got the correct dish and he did offer to change it, but too late, we had concert tickets and had already spent too long there due to the painfully slow ‘service’ so requested the bill. Twice. Eventually we went to the bar to try to get the bill. Cheekily they charged for the tikka that I didn’t have in my ‘balti’ and scowled when I asked for it to be changed to plain chicken. I also mentioned that we’d not received drinks despite ordering twice. A shrug and ‘we’re busy’ was the response. Honestly, this place is pretty awful - the staff don’t seem to give a stuff about customer service, the food is poor and the thumping noise from the bar downstairs makes for a less than pleasant experience.More

I’ dined at Barajee regularly many years ago, and having been living elsewhere for a while I have returned twice in the last month whilst in Birmingham on business. The menu is full of the favourites, the food and service are still fantastic and the...beer always cold. Staff are lovey and nothing is too much trouble - I look forward to returning in the not to distant future.More

I was in Birmingham on business and visited Barajee with some colleagues. I have to say giving it one star is being over generous. The service and the food were both poor (I suspect very cheap ingredients were being used). When our mains arrived, mine...was missing (It had been left off our order) when it finally arrived it was molten hot (Popped into the microwave maybe?). I asked for a small glass of house red (Which was dreadful, and totally undrinkable) and received a large glass instead. To round off a very poor dining experience I was handed another tables bill. Luckily, I checked because it was about £50 higher than our actual bill turned out to be.More

Went there after seeing a show as only place open to serve food. Grateful to have found somewhere open, there were only about 4 other people there. We chose our food and waited…and waited…and waited…And by the time we got served about 30 more people...had piled in. We were then told that we couldn’t starters, so had to change our minds quickly before the waiter went off! There didn’t seem to be any organisation in priority, and im sure they should be used to coping with surges in customers? The pickle tray was disappointing, onions dried out and mint sauce was more like a ginger sauce, and bland My curry was supposed to have cream in, but it was more tomatoes than anything. On the plus side, the chicken was good, not like some weird “chicken” you can find in dishes. My husband and I had different dishes, visually they looked the same! On my way to visit the loo, I noticed everyone else’s food had the same colour as ours. One colour food suits all! It’s not cheap, so I expected a bit better for my moneyMore
