Great food and excellent service. I don't know much about curry etc but the options were excellent, exciting flavours that were accurately described by the menu. Rapid service that was so good I went there twice during my stay.

Total shambles. They play the game of seeing a load of people come in, get your order in ASAP, get your drinks in, then make you wait for an hour for your starters but keep topping up your drinks. Don't care about the regulars giving...it rave reviews, the food is average, the service is poor and slow, and there are better places to eat at. Good luck when it's busy because you'll just get played or lostMore
I love Indian cuisine and this place was outstanding, we had poppadoms, the chutney tray, onion bhadji, prawn puri, chicken tikka Bhuna and king prawn karai, the staff were efficient and friendly, could not fault any of the food or staff, although it does not...lose them a point at all because it was all fantastic it was very warm in there. Would suggest this to anyone who likes Indian food.More
Excellent food and service. As a large group of 11 pensioners, including a wheelchair user we were very well looked after with everyone served promptly and with courtesy. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we would definitely recommend.
We have been dining at Akbars for over 2 years now and have never had a bad meal, the staff have always been attentive (once a bit too attentive but it was a slow night) on the whole a great place to get an authentic...tasty curry. We were in again tonight (01.07.2023) for a belated anniversary meal, the staff were supper polite and helpful (as always) from the minute we walked in to when we left, food was fantastic, the dishes were cooked so perfectly that the meat was just melting in the mouth. The service was excellent, drinks arrived moments after ordering and mains arrived in good time after the starters even though it was busy night, the empty dishes/glasses were removed without any fuss or interruption. I have read some of the negative reviews given here and honestly cannot understand them, I have taken many family, friends and work colleague here and all have left more than satisfied with their experience of the team at Akbars. Keep up the good work, we will be back soon for sure.More
a lovely place, but slow service and average food in our opinion, bust of course on a Saturday night, but some large and loud parties made conversation almost impossible
Awful, sat at a table right in the middle of the restaurant, kept getting bumped into by staff and customers, ordered poppadoms and badgered to ordered maim course, hadn’t finished the poppadoms when main course came out, staff didn’t even ask and took the plates...away, main course was cold and not nice, actually couldn’t rip the naan breads, they were like rubber, we couldn’t eat the food, it was so disappointing, still had the food on the table and the waiters started to take the dishes away and 2 seconds later appeared with the bill?? CRAP food, CRAP service, CRAP place, 1 for rating as cannot put zero, in and out in 45 minutes at the cost of £110More
and thats what we got, really good food, very tasty. Plenty of lamb in the tikka buna. Staff friendly and attentive. Not been for a long time but will go there if we fancy Indian again.
My friends and I came in drunk and annoyingly seeking out more wine. The restaurant seated us and were incredibly patient, gave us delicious food, including some kindly given on the house, and were very friendly! I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Coventry!
After seeing some of the recent reviews I was a bit apprehensive about going to Akbars for the first time but it lived up to all of the excellent comments I had previously heard. The food and service were excellent. I had the chicken Bhuna...and the meat was tender and succulent with amazing flavours and the portion size was good as I didn't manage to finish everything (even without a starter). The service was polite and helpful. I will definitely go back again. The only thing I didn't like was the coloured LED light strips around the glass panels in the bar area but this is just my personal preference. If I had looked at them any longer they would have given me a migraine and they didn't really fit looked a bit cheap compared with the rest of the decor. However, that is just a minor point and as we were seated away from these lights they weren't an issue.More
Visited with my mates this evening, we ordered some mix grill. The Lamb Kebab was off , the salad was soggy and the fish had a funny taste . We then ordered some Naan bread and Chicken Balti , it was just boiled chicken pieces...in a tomato gravy . The Chicken Biryani that came later was rice soaked in oil . The place has a great ambiance, but ghat all ! The food is pretty average, its pretty crap to be honest . There is a RIO’s next to it , please go there instead and avoid this place like the plague .More
I had been looking forward to a trip to Akbars but sadly the meal did not live up to my expectations. I ordered Paneer Balti which was rather bland and tasteless. The naan breads seemed a little tough, disappointingly so. Nevertheless service was brisk and...competent and the staff all worked very hard.More
Visited saturday evening with family, Food arrived wrong and we spoke to the waiter to correct it ,a different waiter came back who stood giggling at me. The chicken my daughter ordered was tough and she asked the a waiter to change it. A manager...approached the table and started shouting out that we were complaining i told him to refrain from shouting (He did not like that) he then started to point his finger in my face, i will not tolerate being threatened so i stood up to this BULLY he did not like that. He started yelling you are not welcome people here infront of a packed restaurant and we were told to pay and leave He is arrogant and clearly has issues he needs to be taught some basic manners He will not get the opportunity to BULLY me again he needs to keep that finger for picking his nose. If you are reading this and still visit, do not question any errors in your order and be warned you may be the guest the manager picks onMore
Most staff in this restaraunt are lovely, however our visit Saturday was shocking. Food was brought out in dishes we had not asked for, chicken was chewy I had spoken to the manager on site about this who had responded ‘ I have served 300...people this chicken and you are the only one making an issue ‘ The manager then proceeded to raise his voice at me so the whole of one side of the restaraunt could hear and evidently see, this was done to belittle me I’m not stupid. One of the waiters was clearly sniggering this was overlooked too by the manager Food abysmal on this day! We usually visit Akbars and might I add spend a lot of money in this restaraunt however will never ever be returning, the manager decided to get very heated and point his fingers at my dad who then retaliated and was told your not allowed back in here all you do is complain WHAT LIES! manager please my advice to you is to gain some people skills and attend anger management lessons you are an embarrassment to your restaraunt your staff and your customers shame on you! Word of mouth is very powerful and I will be letting my family and friends who I often reccomend Akbars too.More
Tried ordering for collection for the first time in a few years (Used to be our go to curry house but we stopped going after a few bad experiences) as I had a great experience eating in recently. Got home to find the food was...pretty much inedible. The curries were all over cooked and the chicken was tough and chewy. The nan breads were dried out and not nice at all. We called the restaurant to complain but only really got the manager arguing back with us that they had had 80 customers who hadn't complained that day and the best they could do was give us 20% off our next order unless we brought the curries back to them which were already in the bin at this point. Sadly we won't be returning and I'd advise unless your eating in don't bother as something they do doesn't translate well to collection.More
