Nothing but good things to say about The Steakist. First time visit. Hopefully won’t be our last. From entering the front door emphasis was on excellent customer service. This continued for the entirety of our meal. Staff were charming, efficient and just the right amount...of friendly. From the bartender to the waiting staff. Menu clear to navigate. We started with bread and olives. The bread was exceptionally good. Olives can often be disappointing but not on this occasion. Mixture of big juicy green and black olives with just the right amount of oil. Three of us ordered the fillet steak. I had the garlic butter and french fries. The other member of our party had a rib eye. Some had chunky chips. We all asked for medium to rare. Each steak came cooked to perfection. The steaks were soft but with great taste and substance. The chips were piping hot. We had several side orders. The portobello mushrooms (excellent), cream of spinach (good) and side salad. If I can find any fault it was that the side salad was too big! But then again excellent value for a restaurant side. Wine list was well thought out. We had a Picpoul and a Villa Antinori. They didn’t rush us at anytime and we also had a couple of excellent deserts. Highly recommend this establishment.More

Booked on the day for a 7PM table. The place was pretty busy and had a nice vibe. Seated quickly and drinks order taken. The food was excellent, perfectly cooked. Starters of scallops, flat breads and soup. Mains of the butchers block (for 2) and...the sliced sirloin. All steak cooked to how we asked. Portions were good and the sides excellent. Puddings of Petit Fours, cheese board and ice cream. Drinks were fairly priced - we had a decent bottle of Pomerol, a couple of cocktails, a few glasses of rose, liqueurs, coffees and some soft drinks. All in, including 10% service was £260 which we thought was good value for the quality of food. Service was very attentive and good natured.More

A warm welcome to the restaurant which had a great atmosphere and good set up After settling the menus appeared and our drinks order taken Our order was taken and the starters appeared, thoughtfully presented and very good We were given a nice gap before...the main courses arrived, chicken skewers and sirloin Both dishes were excellent and most enjoyable Just room for coffee! Such a shame as the dessert menu looked amazing Service was excellent and attentive This was our first visit to The Steakist and will certainly not be our last Thank you for an excellent eveningMore

Not a big restaurant which made for a cosy atmosphere. Not formal. The service was just right, giving enough time to order drinks, then food. The staff were very efficient and the food was excellent. The seared tuna was cooked to perfection, medium rare. The...only slightly worrying issue was when the bill came with a £34 charge for a bottle of wine - there was only one rose wine on the menu which we ordered and was £25. 😳 There were also desserts on the bill which we did not have! I want to believe it was just a mixup/mistake, because everything else was excellent.More

We made our first visit to The Steakist on Sunday and it won’t be our last. We all had a beef Sunday dinner. Everything was perfect. Beef like I’d never had before. Veg cooked perfectly. Excellent service and very good price.

Visiting the Tulip festival at the Castle on a Sunday and decided to come into the town for lunch. Came across the Steakist and menu looked good. Didn’t have a booking but they were able to accommodate the 4 of us. 3 ordered the beef...and I had the pork. Absolutely delicious with lots of meat and veg. Didn’t feel in the least bit rushed even though we were told up front that we only had the table for 2 hours. Service friendly.More

Wonderful meal at the steakist! Upon arrival we were shown to our table and drinks came quickly. The restaurant had a great vibe and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. We both ordered steak chips and salads and my husband had a starter which was...absolutely spot on, steak was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was Rachel, she couldn’t have been more attentive, bubbly and fun! We adored her and would probably go back just to see her!! Staff generally seemed to be buzzing about chatting to customers and our whole evening was lovely. It’s a shame there wasn’t anywhere we could have sat at the bar to enjoy more drinks away from the table, but overall top marks! We will be returning with friends.More

Husband had been wanting to try this place for a while and as it’s his birthday, we thought we’d give it a go. Staff friendly enough but not overwhelming. Good choice of food not surprising very meat oriented but that’s ok with us! Husband and...I had roasts. Nicely presented with a great amount of meat (too much for me) and the others shared the steak platter. As husband is in the know, he could tell the meat was of very good quality. Even though I don’t eat steak (mix of fillet/rump and rib-eye) it looked divine and made my mouth water! Only marked down because a bit on the pricey side but I think it was worth it and would go again. Everyone liked their meals.More

Been here several times with mixed experience. We’re locals so decided to give it another shot as the menu has expanded since our last visit. Great atmosphere, busy, good lighting and nice vibe. Starters delish…I had halloumi fries which were lovely and a great sized...portion. Husband had burnt bits which were a special and he really enjoyed it. He had ribeye for his main- said it was very good, as were the chips. I had tuna with Asian slaw on side. Tuna was ok…nothing special and not much flavour. Wouldn’t order again. I’ve had the Asian slaw before which has always been delicious. This time it was awful - thick, raw slices of cabbage with no Asian flavour at all. Very disappointing. I saw the chicken skewers coming out and they looked awesome (and a large portion) so prob would order those next time. I had sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream ice cream for pud which was fantastic. We had a drink when we arrived and then a (very tasty) bottle of Sauvignon. Bill came to £145 which included a 12.5% service charge added. I didn’t feel the service was great- they were very busy and didn’t seem to have enough staff to cope. Nice gaps between courses but we were left waiting a long time for our drinks and my dinner had to be taken back as there was a mix up with it which is really awkward when you are eating as a couple. Overall it was nice but I don’t think it was worth the price we paid unfortunately.More

Good menu and food lived up to both taste and presentation. Modern warehouse style decor gives good impression although it was quiet at 12.00 on a Thursday.
