This is a unique situation for a restaurant, being in an old crypt. so it wins there on location straight away, and the food is all cooked on site and is great, the sandwiches lovely, the cakes look terrific. Great table service as well. A great place for a lunch or coffee stop. Its obviously historically interesting because whilst we... More

Super little place. Peered in through the window and it was busy. Wanted to eat in an independent restaurant rather than a chain and so glad we did. The choice on offer is varied with specials on blackboards. I had homemade Lasagne with garlic bread & salad - delicious. Friendly staff, would highly recommend.

Having spent the morning shopping in Chichester, we enjoyed a welcome break at the Buttery at the Crypt. The Leek & Potato Soup and roll and butter was delicious accompanied by a cup of tea. The tea arrived with a jug of hot water, allowing us to have two cups each from the one pot, a little thing, but makes... More

I'd been here a few years ago and loved it. I came back today and it was sadly very disappointing. The service was poor and unfriendly, and the food was overpriced for the quality. The servers were rushed off their feet when I arrived, but should still have been more pleasant than they were. The crypt itself is lovely, but... More

Not knowing Chichester very well, we came upon this place by chance. Good food. Kids (7 and 10) happy with their childs set menu. Husband had omelette and i had cheese scone. All very tasty. Waitresses were very friendly and welcoming. We will be returning if we pass the area again.

As you descend the steps you step back in time as you look up and see the ancient stones, a neat clean and delightful range of tables await you. Service is polite and swift, the menu caters for most tastes, be it soup and bread, or salad, freshly made sandwiches cold or hot a nice range of lunch time eats.... More

Having not visited this establishment for a long time as there are so many nice places to eat in chichester we decided to go yesterday at 11.30 am as we walked down the stairs to the seating area we asked a waitress where we ordered at the counter or at the table we were told at the table so we...
