We had a mixed experience during our recent visit. My husband chose the all-day breakfast, and he was pleased with it. The meat was flavourful, and everything tasted good.
Unfortunately, my experience was less enjoyable. I ordered the tuna toastie, expecting it to have more than just tuna and toast—maybe some cheese or added flavour. Instead, it was dry, tasteless, and overall quite disappointing. The soup I ordered also fell short, lacking any real flavour, although the croutons were a nice touch.
The coffee was average—not the best I've had, but not the worst either. To add to the letdown, the service felt rather lacklustre, lacking a friendly or welcoming atmosphere. Given the experience, the meal felt overpriced and lacking in value.
Overall, while my husband enjoyed his meal, my experience left much to be desired. Considering the quality, service, and pricing, we’re probably not planning to return, as there are likely better options elsewhere.

Hi there in response to your review we were quite surprised that you were disappointed as when we checked back you replied that everything was fine and we always check again on leaving when you seemed unsure about our prices! So we went through it all that you ordered with my Son “the manager “ you asked for the soup but instead of the roll a tuna toasty which only comes with cheese if you asked for it in case of allergies, also you asked for no salad. We have only ever had outstanding comments on our soup and coffees. We pride ourselves on all our lovely reviews and the support from all our regular customers, just to add the price of a toasty is more costly than a bread roll, so hope this reply clears up any confusion you may have had.
Here at Bumble’s Cafe we only want happy customers.

Great food but what really spoilt the experience for my friend and me was being hustled out after we'd eaten - plates and cups removed almost immediately and we were asked if we were leaving so they could accommodate another diner - even though there was space upstairs. Very unsubtle and quite rude really. My friend and I were enjoying spending time together which was very abruptly curtailed. Not minded to go back there.

Had been waiting to try this little cafe unfortunately disappointed. My husband and I both had toasted sandwhiches which were cold and the fillings were sparse to say the least. I asked for cheese and tomato and the cheese was so thin you could see the bread and was filled with cherry tomatoes straight from the fridge. Staff were very accommodating but real lack of choice especially vegetarian.

Four of us had booked afternoon tea for a friends birthday. We had never seen an afternoon tea like it. The sandwiches were made with thick bread with crusts left on and cut with no finesse, with them falling apart.
The tea was served in small pots, with a small pot of hot water. We were advised if we wanted more more, it was extra to pay. The scones were very hard and dry. Mine was replaced on request which was no better, and the battonburg cake was shop bought. All in all very disappointing. We were then advised that there was a problem with the card machine and did we have cash. By the time we paid it was miraculously working again. To top it all we were hassled out by 3.30pm. Won't be visiting again.

I’m so sorry you felt the need to do this review
Firstly you were recommended by one of your party to book with us (who had a lovely time two weeks previously)
We did everything to make your time at Bumble’s Cafe enjoyable (if you read our previous reviews we are praised on our afternoon teas.
Secondly we give you all a pot of tea for two and extra hot water,we asked you plenty of times if you required more of anything but obviously we don’t supply unlimited tea for anyone as no other business would not either
We had a very bad day with our internet and our card machine had to be rebooted so we thought it kind to let you know and was happy to say it was all up and running before your 2 hour stay ended (nothing miraculous about it at all)
You all said your food was lovely when we checked back to you all, the Battenberg was absolutely free we always add it for colour as it makes our display look nice,we always give plenty of homemade cakes alongside
On asking you said you were all happy and full so we supplied you with takeaway boxes which you all had for your leftovers to enjoy the at home.
We cannot see any mistakes in the visit and your unkind review was in our opinion very unnecessary.

Parked in Avenue de Chartres car park and then on our walk into the city centre stumbled upon Bumbles and so glad we did. An independent cafe serving excellent good value coffee with table service! No waiting in a queue! Homemade cakes looked scrumptious but alas the diet and Christmas approaching stopped us sampling. Interesting interior with upstairs seating. Toilet was first class albeit could be an issue for those with restricted mobility. Breakfast and lunch menu looked good.
Thoroughly recommend.

We were gladly welcomed by the lovely owners. The place is cozy and got a homey feels. We were the 1st customers of the day, so we were served with warm food. Homemade soup of the day was delish and the all-day breakfast was impressive in terms of their serving.

Having read a good review in a local paper about Bumbles Cafe on South Street in Chichester, we decided to visit the cafe for afternoon tea, a service they have recently started offering. We were warmly welcomed by both the owner Lesley and other members of staff; we appreciated the pre placing of the high chair and nothing was too much trouble throughout our visit. We enjoyed delicious freshly made sandwiches, scones with cream and jam and a choice of home made cakes. They offer a variety of teas to choose from; an excellent afternoon filled with wonderful fare in a delightful setting with warm and welcoming staff. We will definitely go back. Thank you Lesley.

We have been to this cafe a few times and have always enjoyed our visit. On our last visit the cafe was quite busy however, a gentleman member of staff said hello as we came in and informed us there was seating available upstairs so we went up and found a table. However, after 15 mins waiting without a member of waiting staff even acknowledging we were there, despite serving food to a nearby table, let alone approaching us to take an order we decided to leave. When we came downstairs the cafe was empty so waiting all that time felt even more unacceptable. Such a shame as we came to Chichester with the plan to have lunch here.

We came in for lunch and as soon as we sat down before we had even picked up a menu, the lady who I believe is the manager / owner stood over us and repeatedly asked for our drinks order, even though I asked for a moment as I hadn't even got my coat off. We ordered the homemade steak pie with mash and peas. The peas has been microwaved and were shrivelled up. The pie pastry was flaccid, had also been microwaved and looked a lot like a Fray Bentos pie except there was only 2 pieces of meat in the filling. The gravy and mash were OK, but at £8.99 it was poor value. Oddly the lady asked if I could pay in cash (I couldn't) although the card machine seemed to be working fine. Not a great experience I'm sad to say, because it looks inviting from the outside and the cakes looked nice, but we won't be returning.

Because I am just encouraging other people to fill it up so when I next want tea & cake in Chichester I will end up in N*ros or something instead of this comfy friendly cafe/restaurant.
The team from the cafe by the Harbour in Bosham have created a wonderfully relaxed place to chill mid-shop in Chichester.
Just use it & you will find out for yourself.

Amazing little gem found in the back streets of Chichester on the way to Chichester railway station. Nested just outside of the high street this family run business is not to be missed. We had bacon roll each which was tasty and fresh and home made. We then could not resist a slice of carrot cake and lemon sponge both of which were tasty and value for money. All in all a great little cafe and if we are back in the area again we would definitely visits again.

I never normally write a bad review for any where but today had an awful experience. Went in by myself for a treat before a midwife appointment as I am 6 months pregnant, and when my plate came out after about three minutes of being in there the whole plate was swimming in water which I presume was from my poached egg. There was no yolk left to the egg, and looked like it was t fully cooked. As I am pregnant it instantly made me feel unwell. I tried to drain the water and finish the rest of the food but the bacon which was clearly microwaved was half raw half burnt. By this point someone came and asked about my meal and I felt awful for complaining and said I’d just like to leave as I felt uncomfortable and unwell. He then went out the back never to return making me feel awkward and ended up paying for a full meal I didn’t Touch Bar one half slice of toast to another lady there. Awful experience and left crying feeling silly like I had done something wrong.

On the outskirts of the town centre it is easy to miss, but we clocked it as we walked in to Chichester and made a beeline (!) to it at lunchtime. Upstairs is lovely, 3 rooms to choose from, with lovely decorative touches to each room. I especially loved the teapots and fairy cake salt & pepper pots.
The lunchtime food was great; my husband had soup of the day, I had salmon and poached egg. It was so good we ordered takeout cake for later on that afternoon - which went down a storm with the family when we were hungry enough to eat it.
If we return to Chichester, we’ll head straight back!

I highly recommend this charming little eatery, 4 delightful quirky little rooms spread over 2 floors. I had the roast belly lunch with creamy mash, peas, gravy and apple sauce followed by rhubarb pie and custard. It was delicious, the ladies who run the establishment are very polite and welcoming. If you are ever in Chichester give this place a visit. An easy 5 minutes stroll from the station, but keep your open as it is easily missed.
