A regular place for me and friends in Leeds

Love this place! Me and my friends sometimes go before a night out, the prices are so good and you can take your own alcohol, you can tell the food is authentic and it’s delicious. The seafood stir fry curry is my favourite and the tofu salad is also good. The atmosphere is great as it is always very busy, the decor is extremely basic and the service has been on and off at times but that’s probably because it’s always busy and there’s a reason for that! Looking forward to my next visit.

Superb Thai Food

Enjoyed a superb delivery dinner last Saturday. During the Lockdown we are all limited to our own houses so the weekly delivery of food is a high point of the week. Thai A Roy Dee did not disappoint. The Tom Yum Soup was to die for, totally delicious and the Yellow Curry was a spicy, creamy sensation. My taste buds got an excellent work out. The food arrived hot and fresh and was great value 👌👍.

Delicious Thai food, lovely staff, good value for money

Quality Thai at an affordable price too. I don’t know why I’ve never tried this place all these years. I regularly go to a fancier Thai that I love but the food here is just as good but just in an informal setting. There were 16 of us and everyone enjoyed what they ordered and were pleasantly surprised (except the kid who inadvertently ordered whole fish assuming it’d be the battered sort lol). The staff were lovely and coped well with a large group.

Grumpy waiter terrible Thai food

I have visited this restaurant many times over the years and had a mixed bag of experiences but after what happened last night I will never be returning. As we sat down for a friends birthday meal someone gave my friend who’s birthday it was a gift bag with some beers in it. You used to be able to bring your own alcohol to this restaurant but now clearly you Can’t. My friend then took the bottles out of the bag to have one with another friend and the older skinny waiter rushed over to the table and without saying anything snatched the bottles away and took them to the bar and threw them in the bin!! He could have asked politely for us to put them away but instead he did this. I was so shocked as were my friends. We then ordered food not with the same waiter the new waiter was pleasant enough but the food took forever to come out granted it was busy but when it came out the food was awful. Overcooked, tasted bad!! They then didn’t bring all our mains out after the starters which we asked for. Terrible service mainly from the older gentleman, awful food, we will never return!! My wife still paid the bill while I was talking to a friend at the other end of the table which I am very annoyed about as I wouldn’t have paid for anything apart from my drinks.

Great food, great service!

Discovered this place in March when invited to a friend’s birthday meal and subsequently visited quite a few times during lockdown to collect food. I can safely say it’s now one of my favourites! We had an issue where we received (and were charged for) an extra meal, but didn’t realise until after paying. Ben(?) advised that we keep the meal and he would remember me next time and knock something off the bill. I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect anything to come of it, but three weeks later I came in to collect my order and he remembered me straight away and gave us one of the meals for free! Great customer service, and I also ended up discovering a new meal because of it! Overall, super tasty food, great value and great service 🙂

Cheap and cheerful

I love Thai Aroy Dee and have been so many times -it’s one of our staple meals out, always offering great quality food in huge portions, which are great value for money. I came yesterday for the first time since lockdown and was really pleased with their social distancing measures, everyone felt safe but the vibe was still nice and relaxed. The only thing to be aware of is that they have now stopped their BYOB policy which is a real shame, although completely understandable. Their drinks selection was fine though so didn’t really matter, just an FYI before coming. My vegan friend was also able to eat well here, with some good choices for him, so that’s always a plus. You’ll need to book before coming as it’s really popular even midweek, but well worth doing. For a cheap and cheerful tea you can’t go wrong!

Excellent value, good food and service in a simple environment

Visited here with some family members following a suggestion. The restaurant is basic, but that adds to the atmosphere. We were welcomed and quickly shown to a table. The menu has sufficient choice and service was efficient and friendly. When served (quickly), the food was good and provided excellent value. We were able to have a meal in a short period of time and still not feel rushed. Overall, an interesting simple approach.

Incredibly good food: one of the best Thai I have had in U.K. very fresh “zingy” taste and they did have ones that went up to “Thai hot” ( do not worry. They are labelled and the 1 chili or 2 chili were very pleasant but not fiery. But 5 chilin was pretty fierce as I wanted) Simple, basic decor which was fine Very reasonably priced. We had a lot of food and beer and it was only £20 a had which is remarkably good value. It is very busy: you have to book after 5pm and people were waiting for tables while we were there at lunch time. Why not 5*? The service was “meh”. It was hard to get the attention of the waiters, food was “slammed down”. We would have ordered another beer but we gave up on trying. I’d definitely go back next time I’m in Leeds. But it could be better if they had a few more staff, or their staff paid a bit more attention.

The two course menu is available from noon to 5 pm. Lovely food. Good portions. Chicken spring rolls and chicken pad thai for me. Cafe/ canteen style interior with basic tables and chairs . Quick service. Alcohol was definitely on sale, but we stuck with tap water and went for beer in the excellent Templar nearby instead.

One hour wait for food

Having been before and enjoyed the food, the experience on this occasion was poor. The service was incredibly slow and the food took approx 1 hour to arrive after ordering. This was also the case for the tables around us..They did apologise when the when the food arrived shortly after we chased it up, and let us know they were 4 staff down because of COVID. Simply mentioning that this was the case when we were seated would have helped to have managed expectations.

Fantastic service and lovely food

Fantastic service and lovely food. Mixed starters and thom ka soup are dishes we would definitely recommend. Very reasonably priced and all the Covid 19 measures were in place,we felt very safe. The only down side was, they are not part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme throughout August so we had to pay full price.

Their Red Gang Penang Curry (with prawns) & rice is incredibly delicious & authentic. Their Chicken Satay starter is also delicious, and big - not just small Chicken Satay on the sticks. Their noodle dish (can't remember the name of this one) also is absolutely insane. And their fried rice with seafood dish - insane. All these dishes I order frequently too when I am there. My number 1 favourite is the Red Gang Penang Curry. 5/5 from me.

The food was so ordinary that you could make exactly the same at home yourself. Also, my friend’s main course was served just as we were about to finish. But that’s not the worst part - we waited forever (at least 30 minutes) to seeing the bill even after we had told the waiter THREE times that we wanted to pay the bill, just unbelievable:)

Amazing food, bad service.

We go here every time we visit Leeds. Food is unreal. Last night we went and again, loved the food but the service was bad. The two waitresses were lovely but the tall Asian guy who must be new was awful. We asked for chopsticks which he got and thew them into the container on our table instead of handing them to us or placing them beside us. His thumbs were on the top of the plate when serving which is unhygienic. We paid our bill with him and during all interactions on our visit he never smiled once and was just unpleasant. Maybe he was having a bad day or because he's new but we really didn't appreciate his attitude. Ruined our night a bit.

Rude service, waiting more than an hour for food

I have been going to this restaurant since 2019. Generally they were very good at service and very welcoming to me and my friends. However, this time service was really bad. We waited for our courses too long time like almost 2 hours and there was just couple tables, not really too much. Also, other customers who arrived after us had their main courses and everything in the table but me and my friends had to wait for the starters more than 30 mins and there was a huge time gap between starters and the main courses like more than half an hour. Another issue, even though my friends had their main courses, my main course did not arrive the table and i had to wait for it additional 30 mins. The most horrible part of it was when i tried to ask something. The waiter was really blunt and did not let me talk at all and i have been told by him about my food will arrive soon but of course all i could have said "excuse me" and could not ask my question and have been told off by him straight away. I am not thinking to go there back again because they were really rude and not answering anything about the service basically.
