Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited Piassa for the first time tonight and we'll be returning as soon as possible...and telling all our friends about it! There's a huge menu for meat eaters but we told our host we're vegan and he advised us to order the mixed vegan platter for 4. One of our sons has food allergies so we checked with the owner who went out of his way to explain and reassure us. After a very short time our impressive huge platter arrived, covered with an enormous teff flatbread topped with an amazing array of Ethiopian curries and vegetables. A pot of spiced stew arrived separately for us to spoon over the meal. The food was sublime, delicious and filling. Towards the end our host asked us which curries we liked most and then brought us more of the three we'd selected. We were offered the traditional coffee ceremony after our meal but we declined - another time perhaps. We left feeling most satisfied and raving about the whole experience. Everyone was so welcoming, generous, accomodating and friendly. The food was unbelievably reasonably priced and such good value. All 4 of us, including our 2 teenage sons, loved the flavours and feel of lovely Piassa.

Friendly from the very start! Really accommodating when I said I didn't eat lamb and threw together a taster platter for my boyfriend and I of other meats and dishes. Will cook to meet any of your requirements if you let them know. Very chilled atmosphere and amazing food! No knives and forks as you eat with your fingers using the pancake, which feels very authentic. Great mix of dishes - really enjoyable. and the portions were plenty! Would go here again 100%

As we were early for an Arena show, we decided to eat first. Picked this place based on proximity and it’s high average reviews. We were not disappointed. Lovely owner put us at ease, talked us through the options (meat and veggie) and then brought us their Special - which was a sharing ‘tasting plate featuring all their dishes, most of which are mildly spiced curries, served on injera (a kind of spongy savoury pancake) and eaten without cutlery. It was different, delicious and definitely a place to go back to. A double main course, 2 cokes and an expresso for £26.

The jolly staff and welcoming clientele of Piassa don't need me to write this review - they already know how good it is. Even though we turned up at 7pm on a busy Saturday night, the brisk staff service couldn't have been more helpful. As we'd never been out for Ethiopian food before, I asked if they could just bring us something suitable for four people including one veggie. This they did, and it was fabulous. They even went out of their way to do me a takeout for my housebound stepmother - I'd asked late and we had a long drive ahead of us, but despite being really busy they got it ready in under 10 minutes. What stars! If you live within eat-in or takeaway range, I'd really recommend trying their food. My 9 year old daughter was worried about it being too ferociously spicy, but there was a mixture of dishes and she coped fine (even though it took her a bit of practice eating off a communal platter with spongy teff flatbread and fingers). Flavoursome food, efficient & helpful people, nice vibe, banging tunes. What's not to like?

Clearly popular with the local Ethiopian community, who made this tourist totally welcome. Delicious vegan platter and spicy lamb, both eaten using injera, soft thin sourdough flatbread. Not at all expensive.

Decided to eat here after walking past many times and having never eaten Ethiopian food, curiosity got us through the door. A very good decision!we were immediately asked if we had tried the food before - when we said no we were asked about our preferences. What followed was some of the tastiest selection of lamb, chicken and beef I’ve had the pleasure of eating. The food was outstanding, each dish full of flavour and just delicious! I love spicy food and had mentioned this so each dish had a wonderful heat. We finished with the coffee ceremony which was brilliant. Also worth mentioning the beer is a really good price! Go visit - delicious food/attentive staff/authentic experience - what more could you want? We’re already planning to go back with friends.

Ventured here on a whim based on reviews and my god what a treat. Great vibe on entering, host/owner very welcoming and engaging. As it was my first time eating the cuisine he recommended to make me a half and half of one spicier and one creamier dish, with sides. It was incredible, could easily have fed 2 there was enough. Can't recommended this place enough and will definitely be back whenever I'm in Leeds. Wow and thank you so much guys.

One of my favourite places to grab dinner in Leeds, there's something for everyone from hardened carnivours to vegans. The service is fast, the prices are low, and the food is exceptional. Try their home-made tej, it's like a cross between mead, cider, and pale ale.

I’ve never eaten Ethiopian food before. And what an introduction! The Beyaynetu was so incredibly tasty, I loved the variety of dishes all served in the delicious Injera bread (another 1st for me). Next time I’m in Leeds I will definitely be back.

Excellent meal and very friendly staff. We had both the vegetarian sharing platter and the meat platter. We ordered too much food but it was all very tasty and well presented. The coffee experience rounded off the meal perfectly. Would definitely recommend.

Great food. Having never had Ethiopian food before I didn’t star a 5 as I have nothing to compare it with. The food was good , we had a platter with meat and lentils, it was yummy. The venue was a mixture of a bar / restaurant. If I lived closer, I would visit again. The staff were friendly.

Visited here for lunch at the food and service was amazing. We asked what they recommended having never eaten Ethiopian food before. We had the mixed meat and veg dish and it was all amazing. We finished with the coffee which again was very tasty and overall a great meal out. The honey wine was delicious as well

Fabulous evening at Piassa, delicious food goes without saying but also fab atmosphere and friendly staff and customers alike (everyone said goodbye when we left). The cherry on the cake is that it is such good value. What fun.

Fantastic food, very different to anything I've ever had. Slow cooked meat dishes were amazing. Very low key, so don't dress up, and make sure you're well wrapped up in the winter!

Vegan and veggie options = gorgeous. Hosts = spot on, warm, thoughtful service. Atmosphere = relaxed, communal, respectful. Parking/access = on road, front or side, ideal. Only sadness being, I’m not local:) 10/10
