Visited Da Vito Ristorante with my partner and it was simply incredible. The food was out standing, the service and hosts were unbeatable and made such a lovely atmosphere, nothing is too much trouble. Dishes are served to perfection and the prices are especially reasonable for the amazing food and service you receive. Will definitely return and encourage other to do so to.

Quality food every time,great friendly atmosphere

Great restaurant with amazing menu plus specials on board with fresh fish a plenty.My husband had Monkfish which also had other fish selection muscles,prawns.food cooked to perfection. Veal was had by myself so tasty tender portion on large side.fresh vegetables accompanied it.we had a White House wine that was of great quality reasonably priced.Vito the owner always has time to greet you and have a chat.such a nice relaxing atmosphere highly recommended

Excellent meal and service

I had a meal at da Vito on Tuesday evening with a group of friends from work. They only opened the week before and given the current situation with social distancing business has been slow (We were a group of 6 and their only customers for the time we were there). Despite being so quiet the atmosphere was lovely, the restaurant itself has a good ambience. The menu was excellent with a good range of Italian dishes, all reasonably priced. We all agreed our food was delicious. Definitely worth a visit, I will be back next time I am in Leeds. People of Leeds and visitors to the City - support this new restaurant as they really deserve it!

While in Leeds recently I was looking for somewhere to eat on a Saturday night and so I did a google search and found Da Vito an Italian restaurant . I rang and managed to book a table. The whole experience from the moment we walked to when we left was a pleasure. The quality of the food is amazing and is reasonably priced !. The drinks menu is large and varied , we ordered the house red wine which Sicilian which we rated very highly. The staff are warm and friendly and attentive . The atmosphere is relaxed . If you live in Leeds or just visiting I would highly recommend you give DaVito a visit and you will not be disappointed . Grazia

Once again fabulous!

Returned for a business dinner with a colleague following a fabulous private dinner and was not disappointed- immaculate service and stunning food despite all the new Covid measures. The chef recommended a fresh Genovese with mussels and we finished with home made tiramisu and grappa- simply wonderful. We will be back!

Working in Leeds and found this restraunt on Google. Reviews were good and it was near the hotel so decided to give it a go. What a lovely find. Restraunt is very tastefully decorated and has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Good menu with lots of choice but this isn't a chain catering for tourists so don't expect a huge menu. There is also a specials board with a good few extra choices. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Little wait between courses but that adds to the experience and you know your meal is being all cooked from scratch and you are not rushed at all. The fillet steak was delicious and my colleague thoroughly enjoyed her veal. Nice choice of starters too with dishes catering for allergies. Colleague is gluten free and many dishes could be adapted to accommodate her. Pricing is very reasonable including the wine list. The house wines are very good. Staff are very pleasant and professional, chatting when needed but not intrusive. The owner is lovely and clearly very passionate about his business and was happy to chat or answer any questions. I liked it so much we went twice and my colleague went again after I returned home. Well recommended and will definitely go again next time I'm in Leeds.

Lovely food but…

Me and my partner visited this Italian last night, on arrival the waiter wasn’t aware of our booking the restaurant was really busy, clearly over booked and people waiting outside the doors and around our table whilst we was eating. We rushed to finish and left. Wouldn’t recommend this on a weekend. Waiting staff pleasant helpful and coped really well under circumstances. It seemed like an opening night with how crazy things were. Food delicious but it would have been more enjoyable if it wasn’t so overbooked and crowded.

Fabulous Food

Had fantastic night first time out with my husband since lockdown.we went to Da Vito as it's our favourite italian restaurant. Covid safety measures were adhered to.food was so fresh and tasty they must use only the finest ingredients there is a varied menu something for everyone.we had white house wine was of high quality perfectly chilled.service from Fabrizio front of house was excellent, The owner Vito came out to check all was good had chat to everyone,and towards the end of the evening the Chef Mario came out to see everyone.what a fabulous restaurant still as good as ever,great atmosphere Keep up the good work Da Vito

First visit on perhaps a bad night?

So where to start, Perhaps on the actual food itself.....generally not bad, in fact, the main courses were actually quite nice, tasted good and well presented, so no compaints there. The starters, we both had the Asparagi alla Fiorentina, egg slightly undercooked and perhaps not the best poached egg we've ever had. The garlic bread was nice and freshly cooked too. Service.... Oh dear! We had to wait a full hour until our starters arrived. At one point 'the main man' said it was a bad night. I think we worked that out ourself. On arrival, it seemed a bit odd the waiting staff didnt deal with us except asking us to wait and sit at a table. Then the 'main man' shook hands and directed us to our table, we then had to wait 20 mins until he took our order. There were a minimun of 6 waiting staff, all looking lost, waiting for direction, appearing not allowed to do anything unless instructed. The 'main man' was the only one who took orders for food, one other staff member took drink orders. Turn over of tables was slow, the number of people waiting for tables was growing.... I assume all of them had booked tables and were not walk ins. People watching I could see frustration of lack of service and three tables walked out before their orders were even placed having waited & asked waiting staff if they could place their orders. I asked for our bill 4 times and on the final time said I would leave without paying if I did not receive it. The 'main man' appeared to be again the only one who could oversee running up the bill. My partner finally went to the bar to pay the bill. If it was a bad night, use your staff to inform your customers, dont keep them in the dark. Actually, use your staff more efficiently, allow them to take table orders, greet customers and seat them on arrival, get them to check if everything is okay. I'm sure this is a really nice restaurant normally, especially given it was busy.

Christmas meal with friends

Totally baffled by the amazing reviews on here, after reading these reviews I was really looking forward to going here. First of all we had to pre order our food before we got there. When we arrived the waiter seemed very impatient and wanted us to be seated straight away. When we where sat down the waiter came over to us, there where 10 of us , he said Wine or beer to drink, didn’t give us a drinks menu to look at , obviously we would need to see what there is, he then went to get one after we suggested that maybe a drinks menu would be a good idea !! We ordered our drinks, 2 got forgotten, the food then started coming out, they just plonked it down on the table and didn’t ask who had ordered what, the drinks where also just slammed on the table . After our food some of us decided that we fancied a desert, not a chance, it was a Friday night and they had 1 slice of cheesecake left !! So super disappointed to say the least, service was terrible, food was average and over priced, definitely would not recommend to anyone and won’t be going back !!

This is a great find in the centre of Leeds on York Place. The restaurant has been part of the Leeds restaurant scene for many years and has already established a loyal following. It has relocated and the new premises ideally suit the way the restaurant operates with a lovely bar area ,an atrium and wonderful service by not only the Italian proprietor but also friendly and knowledgeable staff. The menu is varied and of a high quality with an excellent specials board including many well prepared fish dishes. Something for everyone! Prices are reasonable and we shall certainly return.

Wonderful fish platter!

Dined in here on Friday night and had a wonderful meal. The place was really busy and buzzing with people. The food was exquisite - we chose the fish platter from the specials menu for mains which was really impressive! I would say the only reason I am not giving this a 5 is that although everyone on the team was really friendly there did seem to be really long waits between courses and we had to get staff attention when we wanted to look at the dessert menu - I am not wanting fast food but this was a bit too drawn out.

Despite booking there was no record of our booking. The staff seemed harassed and poorly organised. It was 30 minutes before we were offered a drink and an hour and a half before we ate. A free starter was brought to the table which contained meat - no good for me since I am a vegetarian. My nicoise salad was mediocre with no dressing, olives or anchovies. It did have half a tin of tuna and a lot of lettuce and an egg! The most expensive and worst salad ever!

Best Italian meal I’ve had outside Italy with excellent service and value

Turned up without a reservation while on a work visit to Leeds. Was immediately found a discreet table by very friendly staff. Good extensive menu and wine list, including the best value Grillo and Nero d’Avola wines I’ve found in a restaurant in the U.K. My fried calamari starter was faultless, so fresh, with a superb light batter with fried courgette and carrot strips added as a nice touch. Took the vegetarian celeriac and beans main, which was also delicious. Very quick, friendly and efficient service. Felt such a good find that even the slightly cheesy decor and music enhanced rather than detracted from the experience. This was the best Italian experience I’ve had outside Italy. Highly recommend.

Disappointing

Arrived for our table reservation at 7.00, didn’t get to sit down until 7.30 - that was OK as the previous occupants presumably stayed longer than expected. However we did not order until 8.00 in spite of requesting to, and trying to catch the eye of the maitre d’. Ordering drinks proved a challenge as well, with one round probably taking 15 minutes to arrive at the table. Between the four of us we had 8 courses, of which 5 were good or very good, 3 however were poor, the mussels in particular had far too much red chilli in and the sauce was bitter and unpleasantly hot. In mitigation they were quite busy and some of the staff were clearly new / inexperienced, but our experience did not match the other rave reviews.

Thank you for your comment. You hit the nail on the head! Since Brexit and with addition of Covid we are unable to get staff. It’s very difficult to maintain standards with students which come and go. Unfortunately this is the new reality. We are very sorry that we not met your expectations.
