What an excellent restaurant! I went there on the recommendation of a Punjabi friend who rated it very highly and I was not disappointed.
All the staff were lovely and welcoming and the place has an informal cafe like atmosphere.
The food is fantastic. The Pani Puri shots were light and refreshing, the onion bhaji lighter and more delicate than in most restaurants, and the Okra Fries really shouldn’t be missed.
The Massla Dhosa was a fantastic main course that came with lovely accompaniments, one of which was the nicest freshest coconut chutney I’ve tasted.
I don’t eat meat so can’t comment on those dishes but the meat stuff going out to other tables looked of a high quality and all the other diners seemed hot be leaving happy with their meals.
A great find.
Already planning my next visit.

I feel so lucky to live near this restaurant because it's inexpensive, friendly, delicious, and nutritious. It's the perfect place to go in Oakwood, whether you're feeling too lazy to cook or want more of a special night out. The saag paneer, coconut naan, and dal makhani I had there recently were among the best dishes I've ever eaten -- and I've lived in both Pakistan and India! And the staff are kind enough to respond to my slow and mistake-ridden Hindi, even praising my linguistic skills! When I die, I hope to go to Punjabi Heaven . . .

Wow, the food here is so good its unreal. Everything spiced to perfection and is so obviously freshly made from scratch unlike some other Indian restaurants I've been to. All the meat was so incredibly tender and the menu was really well thought out. I visited on a Wednesday night and it was constantly busy so I think word is getting out there about how good the food is. In spite of how busy they were the staff were very attentive, efficient and helpful when choosing what to order. I'll be back as much as I possibly can!!

I am a punjabi food lover and have heard great things about this restaurant unfortunately I wasn't able to dine in however, I xhose to takeaway instead.
The food I recieved today had a mixed reception from my family as some things were very good and others were a bit of a let down hence my score.
The starters were disappointing the punjabi fish pakoras were not worth £6.50 for 4 pieces, which were quite small and over battered the flavour was ok but a bit of a let down. The sev puri dahi puri was extremely sweet and didn't have a balanced flavour which again was a let down.
The mains we ordered were different in comparison as they were cooked with more flavour but again not something spectacular in my opinion.
The Mysore masala dosa was nice and flavoured well however the accompanying sauces were lacking. The Keralan fish curry was nice however could have done with little more spice to balance the coconut and the chicken biryani had good flavours however the added masala sauce provided was very hot.
I don't eat very spicy burn your mouth style food but the base spices could do with some adjustments.
I feel the price of the dishes was rather high in some cases but I understand the economic climate isn't very helpful right now.
I would reccomended people try the food for themselves however I believe there's some tweaks needed to make this restaurant a stand out venue for me.
The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated and the overall presentation is good but the flavours are what matter to me and this time it didn't have that Wow factor.

This place is just amazing; top quality and perfectly spiced authentic Indian food. I had visited with my family and we truly enjoyed our meal. The staff was friendly and very attentive. The service was superb, everything was brought out hot and really quickly. All the items we ordered were cooked to perfection, the chefs really know what they're doing!!
A very happy customer and will definitely visit again. Highly recommend this place to someone who prefers quality food & ofcourse the true Indian flavour.

Back in December 1973 I and a friend enjoyed the nearest we could to Christmas dinner in New Delhi. It was served in a large marquee just off Connaught Circus and consisted of freshly cooked tandoori chicken, fresh nan and veg curry. A memorable feast! Shortly after I moved to Leeds ten years later a venerable establishment called Raja’s Tandoor opened on Roundhay Road selling similar fare of an equal standard of excellence. The proprietor (of a certain age which we share - which you’ve probably gathered if you’ve got this far; for which thank you!) retired during covid much to my and I’m sure many others’ regret.
I have good news. Punjabi Heaven has taken up the mantle. 5 stars is not enough. I can’t speak for the rest of the menu apart from the Kolkata Chat (👌), but if you like tandoori come here; believe me I know what I’m talking about!

Went here for a family birthday & have to say was a little disappointed after reading such rave reviews prior to booking.
Having dined all over the globe & with friends in the food, beverage & hospitality industry means I am always trying to be fair but subjective in my gastronomic experiences.
Start not great when was advised online I had to vacate table at 8pm for a 630pm booking only to find the restaurant 3/4 empty.
Also advised it was my wifes birthday & could they arrange something special & got no response so luckily bought & took own cake/candle etc.
Starters were fine although waitress came across pushy when taking our order.
'If I want a drink, I will ask for one'.
Mains were ok but a member of our group found lamb in his chicken dish & rightly complained & this was removed from final bill upon request.
Bathroom clean though dated & rather represented the general mood of the place.
'Tired'.
Overall a disappointing dining experience & wont be returning.

Yes, once you book a table your table is reserved for 90minutes if is not busy we never request the table back. We have a professional and well-trained team so if there were any requests, they were more than happy to help. Feel very privileged to have this restaurant just round the corner from us. Been a few times now and it’s always been great.
Food really good - have mainly gone for street food rather than more traditional curries, and it’s all been spot on. Can definitely recommend the Masala Dosa, Chicken 65, Vada Pao and Samosa Chat, but to be fair everything we’ve had’s been tasty.
Kirkstall Brewery beers on tap too (although no Three Swords yet, hint hint).
Staff are lovely. You’ll have a warm welcome, and a fantastic dinner. You should go!

I guess that opening a new "Indian" restaurant in Roundhay is taking quite a gamble - it's hardly the only one around. However, this one should really take off, based on our experience. Would normally have tried the restaurant properly, but a certain infection necessitated a takeaway. We were able to arrange collection: they were so helpful and kind about this. Just lovely. Apparently, the restaurant looked really nice - we'll do that for real next time. Our food was plentiful and tasty and unusual. Whole sea bream and my fish starter were nice surprises. Excellent paneer, roti, rice, raita. Flavours and aroma just yummy. We'll be back. Very best of luck to the owners!!

Great for a casual night out. Staff are lovely and helpful and ready to help with anything.
Had the cool platter which was more than enough for 2 and also had the okra fries which were fresh, crispy and piping hot!
Railway curry was great too potatoes weren’t mushy and flavour was fab.
Rajhastani lamb had a nice heat, soft man and plenty for gravy with it which eas perfect for dipping garlic naan in. Overall a great meal and would highly recommend!

This was our second visit to the restaurant. The first time was excellent and this was even better. The starters were simply delicious and the main course was equally as good. This food is very authentic Punjabi cuisine (we were lucky enough to live in India for a few years) with lots of flavours and spices that sets it aside from other restaurants. The staff are also very friendly, delightful, good fun yet professional. Special mention to Tamanna and Lakhwinder who were ever so warm and friendly. Michael & Renuka.

The tastiest, most delicious curry we’ve had for a LONG time. Amazing menu with original street food dishes, served in a cool restaurant by the friendliest and most attentive staff. Absolutely loved it and have told all our friends. Lakhwa in particularly was absolutely brilliant. Definitely going back again and soon!

I went to Punjabi Heaven to meet friends and have a spot of lunch. The afternoon offer was a nice surprise and a real treat. I ordered a Railway Thali with butter Paneer which also came with Daal Makani, grilled Paneer and Rasmalai. For the price paid for this, there was a lot of food. It was catered to ensure it was gluten free and was an absolute delight. Definitely worth the trip and will make sure I pay another visit soon. Thank you to the staff too who were also attentive and checked in to make sure we had everything and didn’t need anything else.

Nice food and attentive service. Our starters were only like warm but were well cooked. We did have a big order so it can be tricky in a small restaurant. The main courses were tasty and came out quickly. Chander, Sapna and Renuka very nice to us throughout and went out of their way to make sure our Mum from India was enjoying herself. Chander was very honest about the curry sauces being pre-prepared. We will definitely come back.

This small restaurant serves beautifully good food and is excellent value. Very tender and tasty lamb chops were followed by a delicious seafood curry and good quality chicken and pepper curry.
The service was attentive and at the end of our meal a friendly waiter told us all about their Indian sweet shop next door and even gave us some samples.
We are looking forward to returning.
