Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely terrible. Took ages to get served. Food portions were tiny. The abundance of scampi on the ultimate sharing combo was 3 tiny pieces. Mixed grill was tough and parts inedible.

Catriona B, it's upsetting to hear that you did not receive the top-notch service we strive to provide.

Service terrible hardly any workers, standard have slipped since the last time we came, sticky tables, mucky cutlery food below par, no fish or scampi, undercooked batter on the chicken overcooked chicken on the main course. Steak tough like old boots, snotty eggs, huge holes...in the chairs. Old and rundown a pitiful image of its former glory. Chicken parmigiano tastes like cheese on toast. I find your lack of chips disturbing. “Abundant portion of chips” turned out to be 8 medium chips per plate. God help the next person to order. Food came very quick making me come to the conclusion that the food was not cooked fresh and was left standing on a hot plate waiting to be served. Chips tasted reheated and the chicken parmigiano sauce tasted watery. In conclusion I would not recommend this to family or friends or anyone for that matter.More

Not been for many a year here but knowing we were going to be in the area last Sunday, and this used to be a fantastic pub way back decided to book a table for Sunday Lunch which we did. On entering there was nobody...to show us to our table, on looking around there was NO tables reserved, so we found a nice table in the quiet lower room. Went to the bar to order, sorry no Turkey (this was 4pm) but we have chicken instead, so we ordered 2 Chicken and one Beef dinner. The meals came and they looked like they were from a canteen, Yorkshire puds were Aunt Bessies, the spoonful of mash was like a slab of unedible white stuff tasted horible, the roast pots were tripple cooked, they were dark brown looked well burnt, very small and very hard, veg was okay and the meats were nice, infact the roast beef was better than what you get in a famous carvery place. I just tucked into mine when the Fire Alarm went off, there was shouts of Fire from the Roudy area, the TV went off, NO STAFF came round to tell us what was happening and this Bell lasted for five minutes, people were looking at each other some got up coats on ready to leave we were ready as well at that point, noticed then that staff were working as normal so we continued to eat rest of edible meal. No body came round to ask if meal were okay. We left then for our journey home, Oh and the gents toilet stunk. Nothing to do with the hard working staff who were fantastic it's just how this chain runs the Pub from the very top.More

Booked table for 8 early in the week, confirmed it on the app the day before and then received a phone call / message from the Lawnswood Arms cancelling 1 hour before table. We had friends who were travelling and set off coming and we...had to try and find an alternative last minute. Very poor service.More

Went here with friends for breakfast. We have always got toast with the breakfast, asked for extra toast but did'nt get it. My wife ordered white toast with jam and they brought her toast made with seeded bread. One of the guys in our group...that ordered breakfast did'nt get his and had to ask again. The staff obviously don't listen to the orders. Food comes only like warm. The place stinks of the toilets and is filthy. Disgusting!!!More

Excellent service with very speedy delivery - important when you have 2 hungry toddlers with you. Value for money was very good, with filling portions of both main course and dessert . Dog friendly in the bar area, too. We will certainly come again.
