My wife and I visited on Thursday night to sample the new tapas menu. We'd seen the menu from an email sent from the pub and it looked fantastic so we were keen to try it out. This was our first visit back inside the pub since lockdown. It's all so well organised and the staff all know exactly what they're doing, putting you at ease as soon as you walk in. Ordering through the app is really easy, maybe a little too easy looking back with a cloudy head the next day! We ordered 5 dishes between us and each was absolutely delicious. The calamari, the chorizo and chick pea stew, the chicken wings, garlic mushrooms and haloumi fires were all full of flavour and equally delicious. Well, I reckon the chicken wings just edged it for me but it was a tough call. The food is really well priced as well, all those dishes coming to about £30. Danielle was brilliant. We never had to ask for anything and she was really attentive and helpful the whole evening. We'll definitely be back - we're particularly looking forward to trying the Sunday lunch tapas! This pub just goes from strength the strength!

We came for our first Sunday lunch at the Myrtle. The staff were outstanding. We recently went for a different pun lunch over the Christmas period and were left waiting around. This experience, in comparison, was flawless. Danielle and Imogen were both lovely and friendly, nothing was a bother, they were attentive and made sure we were happy with each course. Speed of service was just right. The order was taken promptly, the food also came out promptly and empty plates again cleared away promptly. We couldn't choose between the starters so we got the calamari and French brie to share. Both were lovely. We both ordered the beef roast dinner, the veg were cooked to perfection, proper pub gravy. The slow cooked beef was unreal, the Yorkshire's were great and the roasties are up there with the best we've had. At £14.95 for a starter and main, amazing pub food and outstanding staff it was a 10/10 for us.

The Myrtle continues to be a great venue with excellent distancing measures and a mixture of outdoor spaces and now re-opened inside. Booking of tables is made directly on their website and the instructions are easy to follow. On this visit, my group had food from the new main menu. The menu has meat, fish, and vegetarian options which are well priced for the portion sizes. As always the service was friendly and quick from Danielle. Would recommend

Came a long way to have dinner as a birthday treat withe my family .only to find they were not doing food today 2.1.20 . They should have announced this on there web sight . Only consolation was that we went to the Beck and Call and had a great meal very cheap as they are doing all main meals at half price for the whole if Jan

One piece of advice. Book in advance if travelling a long way, we had an oversight of not putting it online Glad you enjoyed beck and call and the opportunity to promote them on our page. Hopefully anyone reading this will see the other nice reviews underneath. Happy new year

After a long walk in the woods with my family we stopped off at the myrtle tavern for a drink and a bit of a snack for the kids. We got the kids chips @ £4.50 per portion and received 7 chips per portion. Even the 5 year old complained about still been hungry afterwards. To add insult to injury we got to sit in the car park to enjoy all 7 chips and then we had the privilege of using a building site thunderbox toilet. Obviously I won’t be returning to the mertyl especially when there’s a far cheaper pub 50 yards down the road where we can sit inside and use a proper toilet!

For the benefit of people reading this review. 1) We have reported it, as the date of the alleged visit we weren't even serving food (Monday) 2) Our car park has overflow seating due to covid restrictions but our stunning beer garden & the pub itself were open to sit in and our indoor toilets were open. The outdoor toilets are extra and are kept clean every half hour and are there for those who feel more comfortable staying outside. 3) Why mention the pub with a toilet thats cheaper down the road where you can sit inside, when you can also use our toilets and sit inside. 4) We dont give 7 chips per portion, we do however give homecut chips with cracked sea salt and they are of a high quality. 5) Ps its Myrtle *

Arrived at 6pm, booking in and getting our table was very smooth but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. We ordered 4 sharing plates and 1 side dish which took an hour to arrive. We had to ask 2 separate waitresses where our order was before it arrived (it had clearly been forgotten but when this became apparent nobody was bothered to apologise for the delay). 2 of the dishes were served in cold plates so the dishes were were only aired, the other 2 dishes were slightly warmer. The chicken dish and scallops are both overpriced, the chicken breast is small even for tapas and the scallops are so small they are barely noticeable. When our disappointment at was a mediocre meal at best was brought to the staff attention there was a total lack of interest, this is probably because the place is that busy it does not matter to them if the odd customer is disappointed.

Great mid week visit for early dinner with our little boy. Fantastic setup for seating and service And the food was off the scale good! The tapas dishes are great value for fantastic quality.. Service is done through the app and drinks are at the table within minutes! We’re lucky to have this pub and team at the heart of our community! If your going don’t miss out on the pork belly and prawns!!

We pre-booked online, for Sunday Lunch, for 4 adults and a child about 3 days ahead and already didn't have much choice for times but what was on offer suited us. Upon arrival they took us to our seat in a beautiful room fully decorated with Christmas decorations, it was stunning! Outside there was a marquee, also fully decorated which looked just as lovely and very cosy with a couple of fires going but having an elderly person with us, I was glad we had chosen to be seated indoors. Drinks are only available through an app and after registering a bit of fiddling about, we were up and running. Our order was taken by a super friendly lady called Daniella and within minutes our drinks arrived. As our food arrived, we were immediately asked if we would like any sauces, extras etc, great service as you usually have to find then ask someone as an afterthought. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! Between the 5 of us, we had a selection of beef, lamb and pork, all of which was cooked beautifully and there was plenty of it. There was roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots, parsnips and a cheesy cabbage mash as well as the medium sized Yorkshire pudding, including on the child's meal. We has also ordered a separate portion of cauliflower cheese which was superb! There was just about plenty of gravy on each plate but I'm sure had we needed to, we could have asked for a some extra gravy. We weren't quite done and ordered puddings including apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding. These weren't quite as nice as the mains and so we will probably not order pudding again when we do come back. All in all, fantastic service, fantastic food in a fantastic restaurant/pub, I can 100% recommend and we will certainly be returning.

We felt like they had taken thorough precautions and done a good job of making a marquee feel like a safe place to have a meal. We're not a fan of Halloween decorations and the music got loud half way through our meal but the food was tasty and hot and reasonably priced and we didn't have to wait too long to get served. Friendly, helpful staff.

We absolutely love it here, we've not been anywhere else for a Sunday dinner out since we first tried it last year. The food is so well done and properly delicious for such a great price. Danielle and imogen work like troopers and we had everything we needed throughout.. Easily my fave sunday lunch in Leeds and the only place I ever opt for chicken on a roast dinner instead of beef or lamb (it's the best chicken roast!)

I went there Tuesday evening with five friends to have the cocktails and sharing platters which was £20 for 2 people. As always the staff were extremely helpful and efficient. The food was amazing, we had meatballs and crunchy duck salad, but all the food was beautifully cooked and presented. Definitely going back to do it all over again.

I’ve been a Meanwood resident for over 20 years and have frequented the Myrtle throughout this time through good times and bad. I welcome how the current management have invested in the place and turned it from a place with indifferent catering to somewhere for families and all things in between. However it is with a heavy heart that My wife and I (plus some old friends who have enjoyed good times here in the past) decided to book Sunday lunch when these old friends came to visit post Covid. My wife booked a table and we appeared after a walk in Meanwood Park. We wanted some drinks but we’re told we couldn’t order them at the bar but had to download an app and do it that way. This was troublesome as my wife’s phone wouldn’t accept it and it was frustrating to try and do it. We gave up and asked one of the staff who, to his credit, was helpful but said that if we wished to order drinks in the “normal” way, we would have to pay 20p per drink extra! This seems a bit discriminatory against people who don’t own smart phones and rather penalised passing trade. The Sunday dinners were ok but nothing special and we left feeling that it was geared to a certain sort of customer but not us. Had we been able to go to the bar and order drinks with cash then we would have stayed longer but, as things were, we felt we had to leave and go elsewhere. I have always loved this pub but this rigid policy that discriminates against anyone without a smartphone means I will not be going here again anytime soon. It’s a shame since I live within 10 mins walking distance but will now be going elsewhere.for meals and drinks. I hope they widen their payment options in future and stop this discriminatory policy as I welcome what the current management have done for the pub but, until they do, it’s not for me.

Hello Firstly Thank you for your review. Just to clear up one or two things of this helps both you and anyone reading. We do offer table service inside the pub for drinks and there’s no need to use the app, some drinks are 10-20p more and thats because the app can run certain offers and also because the cost of the card machine and till costs much more than the app costs. We haven’t charged 20p more we simply kept the prices fairer on the app as it’s cheaper to run than a full system. We stopped taking cash after two armed robberies and as long as we are tenants we don’t plan on taking cash again. Card payments once again are welcome inside. Our outdoor areas for Sunday lunch and drinks on the terrace and in the marquee are all post covid and are App only yes. We simply can’t offer table service or a go to the bar approach for these tables outside and as they are all new the way we look at it is that it wasn’t there before as an option so shouldn’t upset anyone who can’t use an app as years ago these tables didn’t exist. Thanks for acknowledging you welcome what we have done and that our staff did ensure you got a drink and looked after you without a smartphone. This year has been tough and many in hospitality like us are still operating on the edge of cautions and not reverting back to the old normal too quickly as we all dread having to adapt again to restrictions. When booking outside you also receive an email explaining how to order etc, the same on our website booking page. Hope all that makes sense and again for clarity, if you are inside the pub you do not have to use the app although it is certainly a much faster way of ordering and often had exclusive drinks promotions too.

Went mid week and it was fairly quiet, slightly disappointed that it was a tapas menu but that soon turned to pleasure. The portions are large , the crispy duck salad was a meal in itself, my husband has raved about the meatballs to everyone. The deserts are certainly worth leaving room for. Word of advice order your drinks on the app, we ordered our drinks from the person who took our food order, we found out when we paid the bill that 20p was added to every drink ordered this was. I would have been nice to have been told about this.

The Myrtle is a nice pub in a nice setting which we have visited a number of times just for drinks. After reading glowing food reviews we decided to give it a go for Sunday lunch. Underwhelmed is an understatement. The meat was dry and tough and the accompaniments were overcooked and tasteless. Also the service wasn’t great either. I was left feeling we could’ve had a much better meal at a chain pub carvery for half the price.

The Sunday lunch here is amazing! We sat in their marquee area as well which is decorated really nicely for Christmas and warm with outdoor heating and fires. We were served by Bekah who was really friendly and on it with food and drinks and came over regularly to check on us. For 2 people with 2 lamb Sunday lunches plus 3 drinks and an extra cheeky side and 2 deserts it came to £38 which is great value!
