Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great toasted sandwich - I had a veggie sandwich with mozzarella, aubergines and tomatoes on focaccia - toasted. It was de-lush-ious ... My companions had something with bacon which they also raved about. I am told it can be mega busy but we were there...as term was ending so it was busy but not manic. The shop doesn't look much but the sandwiches are definitely worth a repeat visit.More

Me and my friend just bought two sandwiches from the Headingley bakery 164 in Leeds and the sandwiches are so nice and the service even better. The two ladies were so lovely and accommodating. Would definitely return

I've been going here off and on for a few years, but not so much now. Positives - good choice of sandwiches, always well stocked, great coffee, nice pizza slices Negatives - quite a few of the staff are miserable or rude, I've witnessed the...manager's abusive response to someone who dared to politely complain, and when they gave me the wrong coffee once I was practically accused of being in the wrong rather than just saying sorry and making another. The enormous queues out the door over the lunch period clearly makes them think they don't need to bother with good customer service which is a shame. Also, for me the bread is too thick and overwhelms the sandwich, leaving me feeling bloated for the rest of the day! Salads are ok but tend to have a LOT of lettuce with no dressing.More

Located right next to the Parkinson’s steps and as a uni of Leeds student, this place was one of my favourite places for lunch , sandwiches are very tasty/healthy and reasonably priced.

I go here very often for lunch and it can be a bit hectic but the staff are very efficient and organized. There are so many flavours of sandwiches and they are all delicious. They are incredibly fresh and SUPER affordable. That’s why this is...a favourite amongst students. Go late afternoon (2:00PM) to avoid rush hour. They do charge to toast your sandwich (understandably) but it’s worth it!More

Sandwiches are UNREAL, you truly have not lived in Leeds until you've enjoyed one! However.... there is a nasty man that works here, he loves to point and speak about you in arabic (without acknowledging perhaps you speak it too...? How rude) He's a Young...looking man so when you go in for your lovely sandwiches make sure you avoid him to ensure you don't ruin your day!More

We stumbled across 164 a couple of months ago on a first visit to Leeds from Selby, and it's now become our go to place. Really good coffees and a wide range of teas are available and an interesting choice of home made healthy sandwiches...at very reasonable prices add to the experience. Whilst 164 is a bit out of the central area it's well worth taking the effort to get there (it's across the road from the bus station), and is generally busy around 12 to 230pm. Give it a try!!More

Great place to grab lunch opposite the University. I usually only go outside term time or really early as it's heaving with students at other times. Highly recommend meatball, pirri pirri and mint sauce.

Absolutely beautiful sandwich. Rich flavour and good ingredients. Meatball and sausages are two options I would recommend.

Really nice food, lovely little place. Good price for a bakery. Friendly staff and quick service, the quality is incredible! The only negative is the crowds but the popularity just shouts positives.

As an international student, i am really picky at where i eat and i don't usually try new food, so i stick to burger and chips, and maybe a sub once in a while. But i decided to try this bakery because i always saw...queues during lunch time despite having other sandwich shops beside them. I was very impressed with the very wide range of fillings not to mention that the bread is baked in-store. The sandwiches are honestly the best in Leeds. Only downside is you have to pay a bit extra for toasting. But they are still pretty cheap compared to subway and they have a large variety of options.More

Fast, friendly service. But the best part is the amazing sandwiches that come out of their kitchen. There is always a wide variety of options to choose from, even if you are a vegetarian, with sandwiches are switched out daily or weekly (look out for...the third shelf, closest to the cashier). Very affordable for the quality freshly-baked large-portion sandwiches you are getting!More

Ok, the place gets really packed which can be annoying, and theres nowhere to sit, but its not about the interior or the customer service - its all about how good the sandwiches are! Been eating from here for the last 4 years. Handy location,...and the sandwiches are on such tasty bread (focaccia etc, which they bake themselves) and are so filling. Huge range of options. Great place for a nice hot lunch. I usually go to eat mine in the parkinson building or on the steps in summer. Recently went there with a friend from London, she got a meatball sandwich and was very pleased with it. Love them!More

I eat here at least once a week. They have an amazing selection of sandwiches all prepared fresh and served on beautiful focaccia or ciabatta. The breads are prepared on premises the day before trading and just add to the wonderful selections of fillings they...have on offer. During the busy times (when Leeds Uni is open) you can expect to que out on the street. Definitely give your self extra time if you want your food warming up as the wait for things toasting can take up to 15 mins on the very busy days. A wicked selection of fresh delicious sandwiches at fantastic prices. The only down side is the service. One of the senior members of staff is very good at looking like he doesn't want to be there and rarely smiles. He often comes across as downright rude. This is a real shame and the main reasons I don't eat there more.More

When at university, Bakery 164 was a staple of my lunchtime routine. Despite being so busy, the service offered by the team and the quality of the delicious sandwiches were never compromised. It's so pleasing to see that this hasn't changed in recent years. The...prices are so reasonable for such high quality food, made using local produce.More
