What a great restaurant and a breath of fresh air compared to other restaurants. Jay the host, deviated from the menu to create a dish exactly how I wanted it. Every attention to detail. Would highly recommend. Price is extremely reasonable for great freshly cooked food.

Decided to book here whilst staying in Leeds for a 2 day team meeting. The place was very busy (for a Wednesday night) but the staff were very efficient. Poppadoms & pickles arrived which were nice & fresh although the pickles could have had a spicier choice - nothing wrong with them though. Starters I ordered the onion bhaji and I have to say it was probably one of the best bhajis I’ve had (as good as the ones I make!) - there was also plenty of it and perfectly cooked. I’m afraid I can’t remember the main dish I picked (you had to ask for availability) but it was a chicken dish with a nice thick spicy sauce including garlic, ginger, tomato, green chillies together with plain pilau rice - again lovely with just the right amount of spice. Washed down with 2 large bottles of Cobra, our bill split between us came to just under a very reasonable £26. Definitely recommend it.

We were a bit late as we got lost but the host was really welcoming and reassuring when I was panicking we were too late! We had an amazing meal, ordered far too much food but it was all so tasty. Great atmosphere, lots of people , you could tell it is a popular place. Staff really attentive but not overly so. All in all really great time, wished we lived nearer! Will be back when we visit again.

I booked a table to celebrate my friends Birthday. Even during Covid -19 and all the restrictions in place, we had a lovely time. The staff were so helpful and polite. The food was lovely and a great price. At the end of the meal, the staff and restaurant manager brought out a birthday cake that I had taken down earlier that day and sang happy birthday to my friend. I cannot recommend this place enough. I will definitely eat here again!

There are so many REAL positives. The food is not only 'freshly prepared', it's obvious the ingredients are FRESH. Dishes are distinctly different from each other but consistent in terms of all being of excellent quality. There is no pretentious service, the owner and staff are simply straight-forward, attentive and down to earth. Even when the restaurant is ultra busy, orders are taken and food served promptly with zero fuss whatever the request. For the quality of food, the price offers unbeatable value for money. In comparative terms, Nawaab sits on the West Yorkshire top table of Asian restaurants. CONGRATULATIONS and keep up the great food & service.

I booked a table for 6 people for 7pm. I arrived with a friend at 6.45pm. What appeared to be the manager /owner told us our table was not ready as others were sitting at it. We said it was no problem we would have a drink in the bar. The manager told us that was not allowed you could only order drinks at the table and we should go next door to the pub. I pointed out it was only 15 minutes and our table should be ready. Whilst waiting for our table I noticed a table for x6 laid and empty. We were obviously a major inconvenience to the manager arriving 15 minutes early. When the rest of our party arrived we were shown to the table that had been empty since we arrived. When the manager came to take our drinks order he was asked wether various drink brands were available. He then went into full Basil Fawlty mode as the questions obviously irritated him. He was the same when he took the food order and was particularly rude to one of the older members of our party who was struggling with his menu choice. His attitude spoiled the evening and what could have been a very pleasant experience as the food quality was good. With Indian restaurants aplenty in Leeds and so many struggling to survive I would have thought the management would go out of their way to make customers feel welcome not an inconvenience. There is no excuse for rudeness and I would never visit this restaurant again. I would suggest future potential customers avoid this unpleasant experience and go to where you are valued rather than an inconvenience.

1st excellent food, excellent location. pity the staff slap you with poppadum's and spices without asking, positioned as free of charge. Also there was eight of us all ordered a main course and we only wanted breads for all and 4 rice dishes he was not pleased and stated it was policy to provide a rice dish per person...what a waste add the end of the meal breads and Rice not touched. I ended up getting a bill for £19 for the poppadum's and spices.. and bill was over £230. Watch what you order and ask if the FOC or not in large groups. I would come back, but ask

I was ‘booked’ into the Nawaab Leeds last night, turned up with my partner to enjoy a well deserved meal at the end of a long week. I was met with a busy restaurant and a charming waiter, when I told him my reservation time and name, he unfortunately said to me that I have not been booked in. I had made the booking three days prior. However, this happens, working in the industry in the past myself, I can understand this is a mistake. The young man went to find his manager, Abdul, to explain the situation and to see if there were still availability for us. I was then met with a very different character to the waiter I started with. Marching over to us, already saying this was our fault and we had not booked, he continued to state that there is no space and we should leave. Practically being pushed out of the door at this point. The waiter was embarrassed, you could tell, he said he’d try find us a table and they could maybe squeeze us in. The manager interrupted him and stated there was no space and we should leave. I mentioned to him that I did not appreciate the way I was being spoken to, to this his muttered something and laughed. Any staff member should never speak to a customer this way, whether busy or not. And certainly not a manager, all I can say is, luckily for him, his staff are more well trained than himself. Apologies this isn’t a review on the food, I’m sure the food is great, however I would not be returning as the atmosphere I was presented with is far far from anything you’d expect. Completely appalling.

This was an excellent Evening in a Restaurant that does exactly as it say's on the Label. it is in first class surroundings with a Top Class Modern Décor which takes you far from the usual Red Flock wallpaper. There is a very good selection of dishes which tend to lean onto the Kashmiri / Punjabi styles & palates which is cooked in a manner that excites the Taste Buds but does not have excessive Chilli content to the extent that your Taste Buds are numbed into accepting anything. Jay the owner is a first class Host & excels himself to assist in your choice of dish. His Staff are very attentive & work hard to ensure you have an enjoyable evening. The dishes were cooked to perfection and it was nice to enjoy authentic food rather than the offerings from the standard 50yr's old menu which is usually thrust before you. My only whinge was a one I often make & a one that is often used by Restaurants used by owners from the Indian Continent. For many years there was conflicts on the Continent which eventually ended in India being split into India, Pakistan & Bangladesh. You all fought hard for the split so why still call your Restaurants "Indian". If you come from Bangladesh be proud of it and give Bangladeshi Food & if from Pakistan the food from your country. The owner of this Restaurant's family originated from Kashmir an area renowned for it's good food so in this well travelled age, Market it & take advantage by stating that you give the excellent cuisine of Kashmir/Punjabi. I own a Business which inspects rates Restaurants, mostly for the larger chains, and this one has quality food & everything that goes with it therefore will certainly be back.

“RUINED OUR EVENING” I would have rated “0” if there’s an option. Worst experience so far, this restaurant service nightmares include all sorts of crappy servers, bartenders, and even manager! A horrible customer experience we have had which is frustrating and disappointing. Last night had a craving to eat here post some recommendation about Nawab in Leeds city centre. Mistakenly haven’t read reviews otherwise would have avoided such insulting experience we have had. I was shocked how little these people cared about the customer and the attitude of the staff at the restaurant including manager. Don’t know if he’s the manager or owner but he typically taken the dish out away from the table, basically insulted us in a way. We were so disappointed, paid the whole bill without having any food, just moved away from such negativity. It’s not always about money, should treat customers appropriately. And I am surprised why the higher ups haven’t taken any steps/actions as when I now see similar experiences people had here. Somebody pls need to take this seriously and give proper training of customer service if at all to save business. “The place lost my business for life, won’t even recommend to anyone”

We had the most perfect dinner last night! Everything was magical, the food, service and overall ambience. Also the staff were very friendly and polite. We spotted this gem just by chance coming back from our hotel. (Crowne Plaza) We have been to many Kashmiri restaurants, but this is the only authentic one we have experienced! Once shown to your table you get your menu and you are not rushed to place your order so you have time to check out all the fabulous dishes. The staff: Everything is served with a smile and a word of welcome advice on what to order. They were very very attentive and friendly staff. Best of all, the food is delivered with precision and passion at a very reasonable price point. I was particularly impressed that after I had spilled water on my dress, one of your staff appeared with a napkin to help me dry the dress. I had not asked for any assistance, but the fact that this was seen and acted on quickly is a tribute to the professionalism of your staff. Food: We thoroughly enjoyed both the superb presentation and the amazing taste of all the dishes. The use of spice and the subtle flavours that came across in every dish was simply stunning. We’d like to thank the chef for adapting one of the dishes to my partner’s palette, we are grateful. The food well it is simply of a very high standard and the taste is outstanding I would recommend anyone who loves great Indian food to give them a visit and I am convinced you will not be disappointed! Offering a warm hospitable and friendly atmosphere you and your family will love. Thank you so much for looking after us so well.

On a family birthday meal the manager was not welcoming on arrival. He then came over to take our order and was very rude to me, my partner asked him directly for an apology for speaking to me so badly - which I never received. The entire staff bar one guy were sullen and unfriendly. A very poor dining experience having eaten at many food establishments. That very same night a waiter from another restaurant came over to say hi to us in a bar as he remembered us visiting his place of work - now that is a member of staff that is a credit to the business! I would not recommend this restaurant and would never go back again even if the meal was free!!

We were just passing through and wanted a nice meal together as a family. The guys were great and got us seated and ordered in no time. I read some good stuff but you never what to expect. Genuinely, I'm quite critical of how my favourite dishes should be done and there are only a handful of places that do it the way I like. Surprised me totally, food was non greasy, well spiced and cooked to perfect. Meats tender and plentiful within the curries and good portions. Really enjoyed it and next time we pass through Leeds will be sure to visit.

On Saturday 18 December 2021 myself and 11 friends met at Nawaab to celebrate my 60th birthday. I had booked the table for 11 a month or so before and the booking procedure was quick and thorough. I double checked the night before and a prompt reply came back saying how the team were looking forward to welcoming us. At the last moment we had an extra taker and this request was dealt with effortlessly. The service, food and drinks were great and the banquet at £25 a head was extremely fulsome (perhaps too fulsome!!) and well priced. The staff were great and the happy birthday serenade from everyone in the restaurant was terrific. Shame Leeds Utd couldn't deliver a home win to cap off the day. A perfect end to a whole week of birthday shenanigans!! Thank you to Jay and his great team at Nawaab

We have never in our life made to feel so unworthy and small when walking into a restaurant. On arrival, after some time and no attention, we approached a tall older member of staff for a table for 2. We noticed the restaurant was busy but with plenty of available tables. He looked at us in disgust and said ‘can’t you see how busy we are, there are no tables’ we then asked if a take away was possible, NO he said it’s a weekend and rushed off in disgust! We stood in shock feeling embarrassed and totally insulted. We tried to catch the attention of other staff members to no avail. What was surprising is a table was made available for an ‘English couple who had not made an reservation who walked in after us!!! There was no need for such extreme rudeness a simple ‘sorry the restaurant is fully booked tonight” would’ve been acceptable. Brown people are obviously not welcomed into your establishment!! We are paying customers just like any others. We went to Mowgli who were polite and very accommodating. We often come to Leeds on business trips, staying at the Crown Plaza thought we would try the restaurant, great reviews but rubbish customer service to your own kind!
