Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although cold night only one fire lit in bar, none in the restaurant which affected the ambiance. Ordered drinks, sent glass back as filthy. Lasagne topping burnt and sticky toffee pudding was lacking toffee sauce. Asked for candle to be lit but never actioned. Overall...service poor, restaurant not busy yet staff not attentive. An underwhelming experience.More

Hi Julie, we always want our guest to have the best experience. Apologies for the lasagne being burnt, a member of the team would have been more than happy to replace it for you if the issue was raised to them. Unfortunately the only fire...More

One of my favourite pubs, a warm welcome awaits, even as a solo traveller. The mellow ambiance was great, a roaring open fire and Christmas decorations made this memorable! I had a light snack (garlic mushrooms) and a nice cup of tea.

Was recommended to try this pub by a family member so myself and my partner had a meal here last night (November 27th 2023). Great atmosphere, great from of house staff but the best bit was the food absolutely beautiful. Huge compliments to the chef....Would highly recommend and can't wait to eat here again.More

Went in yesterday for a lovely beef roast dinner and can honestly say it’s one of the nicest roast dinners I’ve had in a pub for a long time! The meat was juicy, the roast potatoes were crispy and the atmosphere was lovely! Staff were...very attentive and even got to thank the chef himself, Chef Chris nailed the roast! And I will be back this Sunday coming for another! It’s definitely worth the drive!More

Food was rather average; not poor, but portions, but not good. It was a bit on the Luke warm side and the roast came with almost no gravy - and the meat was a bit dry (being picky). The most frustrating thing was the service,...we had to chase things a lot and the service was very slow, we waited over an hour for food. All that said, it was relatively cheap and we all left full.More

Popped in for a couple of beers after shopping. What a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The real log fire was crackling away and the mulled wine and Rockin Robin beer was perfect. When I went for a comfort break I was surprised to see the restaurant...full as this did not impede with the bar at the front at all. The staff were welcoming and attentive and we had a lovely afternoon drink in a wonderful setting. No food this time but a lovely way to chill out after the stress of shoppingMore

Wow what a hidden gem! Wonderful food and great service. Food is priced reasonably and the atmosphere in the pub is lovely - a cosy feel to it. It’s in perfect distance to the stone circle which is lovely for a brief walk around. Food...is delivered quickly and to a high quality for a great price.More

Hi Fyfield J, great to hear you enjoyed your visit to our pub. Hope to see you again soon!

I had an absolutely delightful time having dinner here sitting next to a beautiful wood fire, which was diligently reloaded with logs all throughout the night by the polite staff. The meal, a mushroom pie, was very delicious. The interior is amazing, true oldey worldey...charm and character. There is even an old well with a glass top over it, all lit up. The mannerism of the manager Huw reflects someone who clearly takes great pride in what he does - a lovely talkative person to interact with, he made the visit that much more special.More
