This is a great little pub. Good staff, good chef, great food with a wine list and top shelf to match. This is now my go to place in Berkshire. An exemplar for pubs and pub food.

i personally remember how the pub used to be (living in poinkneys drive all my life)and believe me when i say (run down )does not cover how bad the place was. The new owner i understand has spent a small fortune on the pub/barn and garden, hence this is probably why the prices are slightly more than your run of the mill spit and sawdust pub.Personally i think the renovations are great and were badly needed. And i would say it has all been done to a pretty high standard. I have never had a problem with the childrens drinks although i must admit i rarely take them to a pub unless its a nice day so we can all sit in the lovely garden, but i dont think its that much more expensive than elsewhere,Understandebly a publican has to get back what he has paid out in renovations etc, after all thats business.Again my personal view is if you cannot afford the extra pennies once in a while to go to a public house and treat your loved ones then dont(stick to a spit and sawdust environment or better still stay at home.)To write an apauling review as you have is just that( APAULING )
