We decided to eat a spot of lunch here, rather than visit one of the chains in the town as we have done so often before - this was quite a refreshing change. No ready made sandwiches here, that was for sure. The service was really nice, where they actually wanted and made the time to speak to you. We asked about eating a pre theatre supper at a later date, but they said their times fluctuate due to seasons/the closing time of the castle etc. so it isn't often possible. The prices are very good, especially for an eatery so near the castle ( there is a 10% service charge added automatically ) . We would definitely go back the next time we are in Windsor.

I went there on a Saturday for lunch trying to get some food and coffees and I found this very busy place that is situated next to the castle and was lucky to get a table. Overall the food was very tasty and presentable and then the coffee that was made was one of the best I’ve had .The staff was really polite and the Portuguese couple was really welcoming. Hopefully will have to go there again.

Meeting with my family for the first time since the pandemic was made extra special by the warm welcome at this fab place. The friendly family atmosphere, the chat with the lovely staff and of course the great food made it a special day.
Thank you especially to the young waiter who was never too busy to chat through the menu and make sure we had a great experience.
Highly recommended. The photo is of the crooked house around the corner. If only I lived nearer I would love to open a shop in it. Leeds is a bit far to commute haha.

We visited this place on a quiet Thursday afternoon in Windsor as we specifically wanted afternoon tea and the reviews looked great. It’s website states “Our Story - Remember the days before restaurant chains? Friendly, family service? Freshly made dishes? Welcome Back! Clarence Restaurant was born out of a desire to bring friends and family together around the table. The owners, created an Italian restaurant in Windsor that reminded them of warm, gregarious Italian hospitality. You can always expect a gracious smiles and genuine Italian hospitality at our restaurant. Our staff always greets you at our doors and make you feel part of the family while you are dining with us”
The owners must have been on holiday or forgotten their values when we visited.
We were greeted by a pleasant gentlemen in his early 60’s donned in a scruffy polo shirt and jeans. He took our order 2 x Duchess of Bedford and 2 x Sparkling afternoon teas, he then seemed more interested in getting products from other places along the street such as toilet roll!
The young dark haired man behind the counter (who was constantly ion his mobile phone) brought the cups and pots of tea out, but managed to forget one pot! The combined afternoon tea then came out and we had to ask for the forgotten tea pot! A stale slice of Lemon pie was then brought out. Not sure what we were meant to do with this, as we hadn’t ordered it and as it was stale it would have been better in the bin! We then had to ask for the glasses of fizz, ‘oh sorry we forgot”, when we say fizz imagine the cheapest version and thats what was served, the scones were stale, the cream warm and no pastries or cakes!
We gave up trying to get the attention of phone boy and actually went in to get the bill. Beware 10% service charge is automatically added!!!! He was most put out when asked to take this off.
Clearly this place is relying on the location and tourists, BEWARE!!!!

We visited for scones and tea. Children wanted a meal. The kids meal was at best four defrosted tiny chicken nuggets and a lot of poor quality chips. The scones were microwaved poor quality scones and the tea was served in a cappuccino cup and saucer with a small amount of separate hot water supplied. The tea had almost no taste. Sticky tables, dirty, very aged bathrooms. Crammed seats. Two days later we had a large very good quality starter each in a country pub with drinks and a couple of sharers and paid the same price. Really disappointing, poor experience and a rip off. It is sad that there really is no place to have decent tea and scones in Windsor any more - there used to be so many places. Hotels and the Ivy seem to be a better bet. Shame to lose things like this.

I was on a short vacation to Windsor, and as I had previously visited this place last year, I decided to go back for a bite to eat and also cream tea.
As you enter the tea room, you are welcomed with a warm smile and you feel at ease, with all the members of staff.
The Tea Room, is situated right opposite from the Castle in the aptly named Castle Street, there is a array to choose on the menu so take you pick??.
So in summary The Clarence Brass was ERIE ,when I visited as the country as is Windsor was currently in lockdown, so when busy you may have to book online to make a reservation.

I went to visit Windsor castle as it was the jubilee and I was there with my husband and kids . After walking around Windsor we were exhausted and wanted a place to have some food and drinks , so glad I stumbled across Clarence , even though they were busy , they were very polite they found us a table and gave us a heads up about time incase we needed to be places as it was busy and might take about 5-10 minutes for food . It was defiantly worth the wait , it was lovely to see the staff smiling and being polite the food was great and so were the pimm’s and the other drinks thank you so much , and I really recommend stopping there as the service is 10/10 and so is the food and drinks

My family and I went on a day out in Windsor and we saw a cute tea room next to the castle and we decided to go inside just to look at the souvenirs and pots just thinking it was a tea room however we were surprised by one very young waiter who was bubbly and welcoming. The young lady showed us their menu and mentioned that they had a mixture of food mainly being Italian so we got a table. And all I can say is that the food was amazing. My children has a spaghetti with tomato from the kids menu whilst my wife chose the stroganoff which was delicious and I chose the spaghetti bolognaise which full of flavour and had this very fresh taste. Moreover we had then had cakes which were homemade I believe and had two coffees which I must say were excellent. Overall I would really recommend people to try this restaurant which specialises in several things. Wether you go there for a whole lunch or dinner or some coffee . I would really recommend!!

Afternoon tea is advertised showing beautiful bone china outside the cafe and hanging in the window. Sadly this is not the case and the tea is not made with boiling water, hence tastes rubbish.
A 10% tip is added automatically - this is shocking. I like to tip good service as I see fit.

Wonderful service, really tasty food. My gluten free cream tea arrived on a separate platter before I realised I forgot for it to be plated separately. Really good standards for those with dietary requirements and excellent value for money

We stumbled across Clarence Brasserie after visiting Windsor Castle and was looking for a place to have a hot drink. We were having a look at the menu when the owner sort of pounded on us and showed us to a table. Not complaining it was definitely a good decision. Without a doubt a restaurant you must visit if in Windsor for afternoon tea and cake.
We had a Gluten Free Carrot Cake and a Red Velvet Cake. You could tell that these were homemade and the slices were worth the money. They were so soft and delicious.

We booked months in advance as part of an experience for a milestone birthday. We arrived 5 minutes before the booked time and said that we had a reservation. The disgruntled waitress looked at her screen and seemed to not find it. She then grunted at me for the booking form, and then seemed to find the reservation. There were no tables with a reserved plaque on, so we had to go to a table at the rear of the cafe which had not been cleared. It was hurriedly cleaned but when we sat down the table was sticky. At this point Miss Grumpy waitress caught my attention to say that there was a table clear at the front of the cafe should we want to move there, which we did. When we sat at the table this was no better than the one that we had just left. Again, hurriedly cleared with sticky table. After we sat, the table was started to be set, which should have been done as part of the reservation. We were asked if we had any food allergies, and we did not. After a little while two cappuccino cups arrived with a tea bag in each one, then one tea pot with nearly hot water. Then the Prosecco arrived. What a laugh. It was cheap sparkling wine, and we barely had half a glass each. Next arrived the cream tea which consisted of flat skinny sandwiches of cream cheese and cucumber and egg mayo. There was one scone each with a pot of jam and a carton of cream which was not even served in a pot. So say that we were disappointed is a gross understatement. There could have been more served as a cream tea which makes the price extortionate, for example a couple of strawberries, pastries, cakes, macarons (as they had them in their display cabinet) etc. We have had better cream teas at our local garden centre. Grossly overpriced. Service non-existent. Atmosphere terrible. To give it a one star is extremely generous. Will never visit again.

Waiter enticed us in and we didn’t regret it! Beef stroganoff was beautiful, lovely big chunks of tasty beef. Wine wasn’t great which was the only downside. Very attentive and helpful waiter. Thoroughly enjoyable lunch here sitting outside after visiting the castle.

My friends and I travelled here to spend Christmas here and went looking for a modern but tradition brasserie in order to have our first experience of an afternoon tea after people that we knew in the area had recommended us to go to Clarence as a result of their pleasant previous experience. We went there and it had a very good atmosphere in what seemed to be a family run restaurant. They were extremely welcoming and kind. If you want a place to go for a wide variety of teas I would definitely recommend it.

Regularly visit Windsor, but this was our first time eating at Clarence and I have to say I wish we had found this place earlier. Situated at one end of church Street, the location was perfect to get the best of eating outside. The service was fantastic. The menu was a perfect size so as to give a good choice of food without overwhelming you. Fish and chips portion size was great, and fish cooked to perfection. Salads were fresh, tasty and again, the sizing was perfect. Pizza made to order and again cooked to perfection. Well done guys.
