Was once the centre of pub-grub, especially once it became the only pub in the area. The food used to be great when Freda did the cooking - bit of a quiet lady, obvs concentrated on her cooking. Latest chef, Wayne, is a bit of...More

Was shocked to witness a brawl tonight with a number of patrons shouting and arguing with a customer. Not really the quiet pint I was hoping for. A drunk chap and a very loud woman could be heard arguing then before you know it everyone...More

Lovely pub. I met a nice chap called Eddie Grundy who told me all about the history of the place and even offered to sell me a brace of pheasants at a discount.

We arrived after a long day touring the area and found a wedding reception in progress - we were amazed it wasn't being held at the nearby Grey Gables Hotel or the stately home Lower Loxley, which isn't far, but I think there was family...More

Whilst staying at a local hotel I decided to visit the village pub before my return to France. An experience I have only read or heard of. Well frankly I don't know why the English bang on about their pubs so much. There was a...More

Well we visited the Bull yesterday, via many detours. Despite dry weather locally, they seem to have experienced a massive flood in Ambridge. The downstairs bar is wrecked but an upstairs bar is offering bottles and microwaved pizzas. Not what we expected and no sign...More

I've called in a couple of times, but on this visit I didn't recognise anyone. The whole village seems to have changed. There seemed to be a lot of people in high-vis jackets carrying theodolites, and a script writer from a local radio station taking...More

Just stopped on our way to camp at Loxfest (the traffic was awful). There seemed to be some kind of caterwauling from upstairs (someone said a rehearsal) so we drank up hurriedly and went to enjoy Quaintance Smith
