We had a midweek meal with friends which was lovely and tasty, it was a little disappointing when I received my meal of brisket of beef with a very small portion of mash and just one carrot and no other vegetables. For the cost of the meal I am sure they could have put a few more vegetables on the plate, the cooking was exceptional , pudding was lovely as was my friends meals. Be careful if you receive an offer of discount as well as it only applies when you have a three course meal for two, the service itself was very good though.

Why wife and I want to the Mulberry tree for an evening meal. The service was perfectly timed, the waiters were attentive, helpful and informative. We had a three course meal with the food being very good.
I also felt the value for money was good given the amount of food and drink we had. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a dinner here midweek. A happy find on our first evening in the Malvern Hills. The restaurant has a smart rustic feel, with bar and open fire. Tables are well spaced. Interesting and varied menu and we both found what we ordered was very well prepared and presented (and served on hot plates). Service was professional and polite. A very pleasant evening. We would recommend.

After a lovely day with an early start. My friend and I decided to treat ourselves to a late lunch.
We ordered the Afternoon tea, and some soup.
Service was very disjointed but welcoming. Although no attention to detail.
We waited ages to be served a tasteless flavoured water soup, no butter with rolls. The afternoon tea arrived with no meat sandwiches for my friend. No cutlery. No tea, not a drop until at least half an hour later. The replacement chicken sandwich was put together on white bread cut into two. Not as expected for an Afternoon Tea with crusts cut off. Whoever is in the kitchen has no pride in their work whatsoever. It is the easiest thing in the world to prepare. Also the cakes in the Afternoon Tea were truly bog standard and not of any quality.
We felt truly disheartened.
When relaying our concerns to Alex who empathised with us, he never came back again to ask or apologise for such a shoddy experience.
The waitress also in question was a nice girl but ripped tights and a skirt barely covering her behind again lacks a certain standard.
We won’t be back. It was slightly busy at the time due to it being eat out to help out, which we didn’t even know they were participating in. So lots of people were ordering food they probably wouldn’t of normally. Great views over Malvern that’s about it.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. All customer feedback is taken seriously, helping us to improve our food and service. We are sorry to hear on this occasion our food and service was not up to our usual standard.
Our soups are home-made inhouse so we are sad to hear your feedback on this, our soups are served with homemade bread rolls and local butter, our bread is supplied by a local bakery who deliver fresh bread every morning to the restaurant. After placing your order with your waitress (1 soup of the day, 1 Greek salad and 2 vegetarian afternoon tea – no hot drinks) cutlery was brought to your table followed by the food ordered. The afternoon tea was brought to you and you then requested meat sandwiches. Meat sandwiches would usually come with the afternoon tea, but as you had requested a vegetarian afternoon tea, these were substituted with alternatives. After you asked for meat sandwiches and were not happy with chicken sandwiches, a steak sandwich on granary was then brought to you, which at this point you said to our team member you no longer required. No tea was requested when the afternoon tea was ordered, even after being offered the option, after the afternoon tea was brought, tea was asked for with a member of staff which was then brought to you. All our cakes are homemade inhouse by our team of chefs so we are sad to hear they were not to the expected quality; all comments will be passed back to the chefs.
Regarding the comments about the waitress in question, after investigating with our team and CCTV none of our staff work with ‘ripped’ tights in our restaurant or with skirts that ‘barely covers’ but we will ensure this is not ever the case.
After being fully booked in our main restaurant downstairs we managed to accommodate you without a booking, being part of the ‘eat out to help out’ and being bank holiday when you visited our team were working at full capacity so we are sorry that you feel you did not receive the service of our usual high standard.
We are surprised to receive this feedback as the complaint was dealt with on the day and we discounted your bill substantially which you then carried on to finish your meals and your sandwiches and cakes from your afternoon tea and stayed with us for another hour.
Kind Regards, Ben

The restaurant kindly managed to fit us in as we were struggling to find a restaurant to eat. Managed to get a slot between 6pm-7.30pm.
The restaurant was well managed re Covid (cleanliness, spacing etc) but the food was dreadful.
I had a sirloin that was very dry and flavourless and my wife had chump of lamb that was very tough and was simply a large lump of fat.
The waitress apologised profusely and said that she would feedback to the chef re the horrible quality of the lamb and the sirloin steak blandness.
The gentleman on the adjacent table returned his food and turned down the offer of something else from the menu. That table had one of their mains removed from the bill.
We chose not to complain re the bill as the staff had worked hard to fit us in and the waitress was very polite and was rushed off her feet. Shame that the food was so dreadful.
We eat out a lot and I can honestly say that this was the worst we've 'ever' experienced - sorry
So disappointed as the reviews were very good and it was actually our wedding anniversary.
Great effort in 'hosting' but food quality was second class.
£51.xx of disappointment.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. We are glad to hear you felt safe in our restaurant with the guidelines we have put in place. The comments made while you were dining with us at the time were passed onto the chef by your server Charlotte. The chef has been in contact with our supplier to ensure the lamb quality is to a high standard, so we apologise on this occasion this was not the case. We are glad to hear the service you received was pleasant, although at the time of table checking for the food, we would have happily replaced your food for a meal you could have enjoyed.
We are sorry to hear this experience was your worst.

Had booked albeit only given an hour and half slot for dinner having seen the good reviews. Seated we waited 15 minutes to be finally served only to be asked what we wanted to eat; a drink would have been nice! The food was very nice albeit a long wait for the mains and then they forgot the jus for my wife's steak. At no time did anyone ask if we were enjoying our meal or could they clear a table of used dishes before offering desserts. Interesting they reused all the paper menues whilst having Covid protocols for entry and exit not that some of the hotel guests who were eating complied. They apologised for the service and not just to us. However the issues whilst small were part of simple good service but detracted from the dining experience. we eat in Peppe's the previous nght and Ego the next and both put this place to shame

There was parking on arrival. I got the last spot. Parking is limited. But occasionally I guess you can be lucky to find a space. After that I think my luck ran out.
We ordered two afternoon teas which were £17 each on the menu.
Sandwiches were cheddar cheese and tomato, cheese and pickle, cheese and cucumber, egg and cress. Now it doesn’t take a genius to work out that these are the cheapest things you can put in sandwiches. All made with mothers pride style white bread. Absolutely awful.
Let’s move on to the cakes. Cakes were very hard and dry. Inedible. No butter offered with scones. Jam was the cheapest catering packs you can get. Watery incredibly sweet jam. I understand due to Covid the jam needs to be individually packed but please have some pride and offer a jam with at least some quality.
So we ate no sandwiches and no cake. The tea arrived 20 minutes after the food only because we reminded them. The tea was tepid.
I have had afternoon tea in many places but this was the worst so I would say don’t waste your money here. Go somewhere that appreciates your custom. Somewhere you can get a decent sandwich on maybe sourdough or hand made artisan yeasted bread and get a home made cake that has some quality to it. I’ll never go here again.
However the views from the restaurant are very nice as it on a hill.
Keep your packet bread
Keep your hard cakes and tepid tea.
My money is too precious to waste it on the rubbish you serve. I felt insulted that you call that afternoon tea. I am livid.
Can anyone recommend any tea room in Malvern where I might go instead ?
This place was a disgrace.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your visit with us twice. All feedback is taken seriously and is passed back to the team to help us improve where we can.
Our parking is subject to availability with a first come first served basis. We are lucky to have a carpark as other restaurants near us do not and therefore customers are charged for parking.
After already replying to another review made on your visit we feel that having already dealt with the issues raised on the day, two reviews are unnecessary.
We are sorry to hear you will not be returning to our restaurant in the future.
Kind Regards, Ben

We’ve lived in Malvern for a while and decided to try somewhere different for lunch. We’ve often wondered what The Mulberry Tree was like as an option so gave it a punt. We booked and ordered the afternoon tea. Impressed with their Covid 19 procedures and the waitress greeted us and took us through them. Free parking next to Rosebank Gardens is a small bonus. Restaurant was airy, spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly and efficient, asking after any dietary requirements. Tea was the smallest tea pot ever. Afternoon tea comprised of 4 rounds of sandwiches of brown and what looked like very cheap white bread, cut into finger threes, not so easy to share as a couple, though we could use a knife. Cakes were modest in size but it’s when we got to the scone where we decided that things weren’t going well. Neither was particularly fresh on one was so hard and dry that it was almost impossible to cut in half and wasn’t that appealing. Being British it felt wrong to complain, but we decided to bring it to the waitresses attention. She offered to replace them and my wife saw the waitress a few minutes later leave the restaurant and pop into the newsagent/small grocery shop next door. A few minutes later the “fresh” scones arrived and were piping hot “just out of the oven”. Just out of the microwave was our guess. They were very artificial tasting and really rather disappointing. The jams provided were pretty plasticy and cheap too.
We paid our bill and decided to visit the shop were we suspected the scones came from, and there they were, on the shelf.
I would have preferred a discount and a real apology for this rather lacklustre fayre.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your visit. We take all feedback onboard to help us improve all our services. We are glad you appreciate our efforts to ensure the restaurant is extremely Covid safe. Our teapots are designed to serve two cups of tea this ensures each cup stays hot, throughout your visit we offered refills of tea. Our bread is delivered fresh every morning from a local bakery 'Colston Bakery', this is disappointing to hear you felt our bread looked cheap, we will pass your comments on to our supplier. After your comments regarding the scones, the waitress outsourced scones to rectify the issue. We heat all of our cakes and scones in the oven before serving for all afternoon teas. Due to our covid policies and government guidelines, all our preserves are provided in sealed non reusable containers.
We hope you will choose to visit us again.

We booke the Mulberry Tree as it looked an attractive restaurant and we wanted something different from where were staying.
We were greeted enthusiastically by the Waitress. After choosing our 2 courses and an overpriced bottle of Pinot Grigio we had a very long wait to be fed. We thought that this because our food was being freshly cooked.
My Wife's fishcakes were more like fishballs being so tiny. However, parts of my Wife's chicken main course were still frozen with not much chicken. The Waitress immediately returned the dish to the kitchen. She was very apologetic but this not her fault. She returned to tell us that was being sorted out and tthat the Chef had offered a dessert free of charge. We didn't want desserts so we spoke to the Assistant Manager (no Manager available) who apologised profusely and he had the decency not to charge for my Wife's main course.
Great Malvern is a wonderful place but Mulberry Tree was very disappointing. It needs to improve a lot to be a real asset to the community.

I visited with my partner to celebrate my graduation and I’m so glad we chose to eat at the Mulberry Tree. We struggled to decide what to have because everything on the menu sounded amazing, but my partner settled on the burger and I opted for a slightly lighter option and had the club sandwich. Both were cooked perfectly and we were given a very generous helping of olives too. The service was quick and all the waitresses were so friendly and helpful and we were very impressed with the measures in place regarding COVID and social distancing (all staff were wearing masks and there were specific ways in and out of the restaurant to ensure everyone was at a safe distance).
Finally, for dessert I chose the sticky toffee pudding (my favourite dessert and one I often choose when eating out in restaurants) and I must say it did not disappoint! Hands down the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever eaten, the shortbread crumb on top was delicious. Hats off to all the staff and measures in place too, we felt very safe throughout our meal. All in all, a perfect experience for our first time eating out in a restaurant since lockdown - will definitely be coming again.

My partner and I decided to go for dinner at the mulberry tree on Sunday evening. We weren't after a roast dinner so very pleased to find out the normal menu was served after 3 (or 4). We arrived about 7:30 and brought our well behaved dog which was more than welcome in the garden seating area.
We were served by the kindest and most well mannered gentleman Kai, who in our opinion is a credit to the establishment, he certainly achieved all aspects of hospitality by making sure we were happy, which we were especially when our food came.
My partner and I shared olives and homemade bread, garlic butter, olive oil and balsamic and another dish that caught our eye which was the Indian potatoe cakes! Truly fantastic starters bursting with flavours and to top it off a generous portion size for both! Which made us very happy indeed 😊
Almost straight away our mains were brought out which we were incredibly impressed by. Presentation was spot on compliments to the chef(s)
Overall a fantastic evening out and an incredible place to dine! Highly recommend to anyone especially as we found it very well priced considering most places prices have sky rocketed because of COVID-19.
(Also felt very safe as staff have kept the masks)
& highly recommend trying the parmesan truffle fries! Delicious 😋

What a wonderful meal and service we received on our latest visit. The restaurant layout and staff professionalism meant that despite the current situation it wasn't a concern for us and credit must be given for that.
The waitress was attentive and the food delicious, make sure you save room for the sticky toffee pudding. Yes it's the middle of summer but when it's that good you can't turn it down!
Thanks for a lovely meal.

Booked here for my friends 40th birthday treat, the place is beautiful with a gorgeous view out of the window, the staff were absolutely outstanding, very attentive without being overbearing. We both ordered rump steak, my friend ordered hers to be cooked medium but unfortunately it arrived almost blue, she was unable to cut it with her knife, the manager? Was fantastic and quickly sent it back to the kitchen, we were really disappointed as the steak was returned still completely raw and inedible inside, I halved my steak which was cooked medium/well and gave some to my friend. She ate her chips which were delicious, but left the field mushroom and tomatoes on the vine ( they were hardly cooked so not much flavour. At the end of the meal we showed the waiter the steak and he agreed there was no way it was cooked medium he took it away and the manager came back to the table to apologise and offer us another meal, my friend declined so the manager removed the steak from the bill and was very apologetic and helpful, again great service. Overall the bill came to £45 that was for one steak meal, with sauce, one dessert ( chocolate fondant ) which was delicious, one cocktail ( a flat mojito that had no taste of alcohol) and one mocktail, which was tasty and presented beautifully.
Overall I was upset and embarrassed as I had planned the meal to be really special for my good friend and she ended up with an inedible meal.
I'm not sure I would venture here again despite the great service as it was such a disappointment and expensive, the average price of desserts was £7 plus and I had a chocolate fondant of the same standard the week previously for around £4-50.

we had dinner as part of our stay recently, and as ever the food and service were faultless. The head chef here is fantastic. Last year he catered for our wedding and completely looked after one of our guests with very real and very severe food allergies. He gave her her first meal outside her own home in over 6 months. If you have dietary requirements, this place will look after you!!

A pleasant evening here in the downstairs bar area for dinner; the only thing is to watch where you sit as the doors have to remain open and it can be a little windy!
Starter of grilled asparagus and soup, and then mains of rump of lamb and fish of the day which was salmon - beautifully cooked and served. We ordered a bottle of local wine which was interesting. Staff very helpful and attentive.
Tables all wiped down well and staff all wore masks or visors. Just one of the young ladies maybe needs to wear her visor at a less jaunty angle to protect more?
