We ate at a Michelin stared restaurant in London recently and this week in the restaurant at Gwesty Cymry on Saturday the difference was negligible as far as the food went. The scollops were delicious in fact the whole meal was lovely. Well done to the chef and to the friendly staff.

This restaurant is located in the guest house of the same name, right along the seafront. Although the view from in front of the guesthouse is superb, the restaurant itself is half-basement and there is not a view. However there is a terrace in front for sipping pre-dinner drinks in nice weather. The restaurant is warm and very cozy. Our... More

Decided to visit after reading good reviews and we were not disappointed. Busy, small restaurant with attentive staff and an amazing menu. Scotch Egg - best I've ever had, truly memorable. Welsh lamb cooked to perfection, a superb creme brûlée followed by an excellent cheese board. Delicious wine at a very reasonable price. Will definitely come back and would recommend... More

I had been here for lunch one summer and enjoyed a lovely meal sitting out in the tiny front garden, enjoying the sunshine and the sound of the waves as they lap the shore. So this was a good choice when our son suggested it for a family celebration, for his birthday - dinner, on a cold winter night. The... More

The last leg of a UK road-trip saw us arrive in Aberystwyth. This restaurant was recommended to us by a stranger who was a frequent visitor to the town. Wow!! The food was fantastic - the best meal I've had in a long time, and I visit a lot of restaurants! The service was lovely too.. a real gem of... More

The restaurant here is very popular and it can be difficult to book a table, especially as it is surprisingly small, only having room for 21 covers. The food is first class and nicely presented . However, service did tail-off a little after our main course and it took a while for our plates to be cleared. The only minus... More

Service was brief, owner barely acknowledging his paying customers. Food was ok but limited in variety and gratuitously over priced for mediocre portions. Small and cramped with few customers, it lacked atmosphere. Food was eaten and we left asap. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return if I'm honest. Over rated with delusions of grandeur in a place with very limited competition-... More

There is an excellent choice of locally sourced food. The restaurant is modern and convivial. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive. The option of conversing in Welsh with the staff is an added bonus, though not essential.

Went for a meal while in Aberystwyth with work and was lucky enough to get a table as a walk in as I had not booked. The food was great, local fresh ingredients cooked well. The wine was good and was reasonably priced for the quality of the meal, drinks and experience. Was nice to speak Welsh with the staff.... More
