Yesterday we had our first special treat since returning from Rome after Christmas 2019 - we realised that we had been very lucky not to pick something very unpleasant up as we passed through the airport each way. Medina offered is reassurance by asking diners...not to get to close to one another.
We were met by a very please young person who showed us to a table for two in the room which fronts the street.
As we read the menu, our mouths watered as we thought about the selection, most of which seems to be Lebanese influenced.
We both had fish:
Cod large Goujons served with lemon and garlic mayonnaise and cumin fries.
Cumin fried Whitebait also served with lemon and garlic mayonnaise.
It was here that I first tasted dishes with added cumin and was and still am amazed at what an interesting and good taste the cumin adds – nothing like curry to me.
Perhaps the most special part of Medina is the wonderful selection of varied and exciting salads:
Roasted aubergines, feta, pomegranate, pine nuts, za’atar (mix of Middle Eastern herbs including sumac) and parsley
Fatoush – is a Lebanese coarsely chopped salad with tomato, cucumber, lettuce, radish sumac, mint, pomegranate and crispy flatbread which was an exciting addition to the Whitebait.
To drink we both had Sicilian Lemonade which was sharp and very refreshing.
At just £29.00 we thought we had dined like Royalty.More
