Well, I can only continue with the 5 star reviews. We just love a taster menu, and the 7 course offering last night was outrageously good. If you like Sosban, you'll love this place too as the dish combos are up there. Arguments continued into the night about which dish was best, I've got the last word as I'm writing this! The mushroom and wild garlic topped it, hang on, the sea bass was so good though, but the pig cheek was heavenly, oh I don't know, I can't make up my mind!! Even the end of evening coffee came with a home made vanilla fudge and a biscuit that tasted like a Oreo made by angels! The atmosphere was also fun with a passionate and enthusiastic front of house. In the words of Arnie, we will be back! Next time, we'll be trying the wine pairings too. Value for money - some people moan about paying a lot for not a lot of food, well don't bother with taster menus then and go across the road to Wetherspoons! Going out to source the ingredients, foraging for some and then taking the time to create a taste explosion is all part of it so a little over a tenner per dish is value for the end user experience! Well done team Sheeps and Leeks, your efforts were truly appreciated.

What a find! In the middle of Caernarfon is this gem of a tiny restaurant with the kitchen at ground floor and a 20? seater dining room in the basement. It offers a seven course tasting menu with everyone seated by 7pm and a single seating giving plenty of time to enjoy the food over about 3 hours. The food is truly excellent, thoughtfully put together so each course flows seamlessly into the next. The wine list is short, containing some welsh wines, and, in comparison with mother similar restaurants, surprisingly well priced. Paul and the team obviously enjoy what they are doing and this was reflected in the relaxed easy atmosphere. If you haven't been before, I recommend you go.

We’ve been lucky enough to dine in some great restaurants over the years, including Michelin starred restaurants. Having seen so many wonderful reviews of Sheeps and Leeks, we couldn’t wait to visit although we were a little worried whether or not it would live up to our expectations. The menu on the table described each course in simple terms which only enhanced the intrigue. Each course contains as many local ingredients as possible and the waiting staff detailed the source of the ingredients in each course as they served the dishes. Every course had the most amazing textures and intense flavours and left us grasping for superlatives along with groaning in sheer delight! The only questions we now have are ‘why did we worry’ and ‘when can we go again?’ Well done everyone at Sheeps and Leeks. Amazing!

This is not a meal out. It is a culinary dining experience. The food was exquisite in every way. From the presentation, tableware used, positioning of the plates on the table- everything was just so! The staff gave full explanations of the dishes being eaten and the produce was locally grown or sourced wherever possible. The wine pairings package was good value and the wines had been carefully selected to complement each dish. Quite honestly- a truly unforgettable experience.

I actually had a good evening so wish to start with that. Paul who is the chef is very passionate. I had high hopes but was probably expecting too much. I was staying at a cottage on Anglesey and the company recommended a few places for family and a few for just us as a couple. We like fine dining and love great food. The food was good, tasty but not exquisite. The setting allows for such a place to allow for surprises. It’s basic decor makes allowances for the food and it becomes unexpected that the food will be presented in detail. If the setting was nicer im not sure the food would hold its own. The use of moulds takes over from the food itself. I really think the chef was nice and has potential. If I was returning to Wales I might return ,but had better elsewhere.

We've eaten here several times now, just because it's such a lovely all round experience. The food is fantastic (and I recommend trying the wine pairing if you're not driving - the chosen wines really do enhance the taste of the dishes) and the welcome / service is exceptional too. It's so nice to remembered, even though it's not like we're in there every week (would like to be!). Every time I've been I've had something that has really surprised me - this time it was the lion's mane mushroom, which I've never had before and was just delicious, but literally everything was mouth wateringly lovely. Perhaps my favourite was the pre-dessert with Italian meringue and lemon and cucumber sorbet, but it was all so good it's hard to pick really. Thoroughly enjoyed, can absolutely recommend.

Our first time to the Sheeps and Leeks. After checking several times that we had found the correct place and not a kebab shop, we stepped in. Staff greeting was warm, friendly and professional, coats taken, sat and given table water and the wine menu. The menu is a fixed taster menu of 8 courses. Each course was briefly introduced by the chef, giving an informal description of what we were to have and where the ingredients came from locally . We worked our way through bread and butter (two types of each, both delicious) mushroom, parsnip, salmon, beef cheek, cheese, citrus meringue and ginger cake. Sometimes with taster menus the experience is over-thought, over-promised and under-delivered, leaving an “Emperor’s new clothes “ feeling NOT here, each course was expertly considered, executed and flavourful. My personal favourite being the mushroom. Courses delivered flavour that developed in the mouth giving a nose, taste and finish experience akin to whiskey tasting, dramatic statement I know but we all commented on the amazing tastes we were left with. Service was professional and unassuming without any pomposity, exactly in alignment with the food…an evening of quiet gastronomic competence. A heart felt congratulation from us and we will be booking again soon.

Second visit after nearly 12 months. I wanted to have a same experience but it proved better than expectations 🥰 the venue is intimate and (even though a little chilly) was cosy and inviting. The team made it feel like a very personal journey through what is clearly their passion for creating, making and presenting unbelievable courses that makes 3+ hours go too quickly. The wine menu is varied and advice given without anything other than what we wanted. The service is amazing and it feels so rewarding seeing the passion from everyone we met. An added bonus was the introduction to each dish so the tables were having a shared experience with each dish being enjoyed intimately. The mushrooms; unbelievable. The lentils and parsnip; a warming addition to a winter night and so happy to have it again 😍 The lemon pre dessert; a masterpiece of genesis! Probably one of the best dishes I’ve ever had! The last dessert; can die happy now I’ve eaten this! I cannot recommend this place enough! Thank you to everyone at S&L for a wonderful evening ❤️❤️❤️❤️

4 friends and colleagues went to celebrate Christmas and had a fabulous experience. The food was utterly delicious, looked beautiful and was all local. Paul the chef was a delight and explained not only what we were having but the farms and suppliers where all the produce came from. He is a rare talent who together with his team gave us a wonderful, unpretentious experience. Thank you - I will be back!

The exceptional flavours and preparation of every course is inspired . The entire team complement the chef’s talent (Paul Hearn) with friendly , knowledgeable service and understanding. Wine pairing is available and a wide range per glass is very reasonably priced as are bottles. No wonder they are award winning . Fantastic experience - not just a meal.

A group of four, this was our first time at Sheeps & Leeks and we all enjoyed the 7 course mid-week dinner menu. My husband and I were accompanied by foodie relatives from Australia and there were complements about every dish. I hadn’t known when I booked, that my uncle didn’t like cheese, so it was appreciated that the chef replaced the second snack with so little notice. Presentation was excellent and the Aussie Michelin-baggers were impressed. An excellent evening was enjoyed by everyone. Constructive feedback relates to the lack of a printed list of the wine flight. It was explained that it is menu changeover time and our very pleasant host improvised by handwriting the wine selection. We also felt that the restaurant would significantly benefit from a sommelier, to complement the very high standards of the aspects of this excellent restaurant. Will return.

Firstly, any low reviews of this restaurant are cranks and to be ignored. If you enjoy tastes and flavours and finding intriguing culinary combinations then this place is for you. Kitchen on the first floor so was greeted by Paul and the team as we entered and then gently ushered down to the dining area by Rupert. Made to feel very welcome and the dining room seat a maximum of 19 so you know already it's not mass catering to push through covers. Drinks, like the menu itself, thoughtfully local with the obvious exception of the wine. Good selection of everything. Rupert gives that wonderfully balanced amount of fuss and discreetness so that we felt entirely looked after without someone hovering over you as you eat and chat. Kudos also to Seren (I hope that was right) on her first full shift, very diligently listing the ingredients for and generally being lovely. Have I told you how good the food is yet? No? Well let me tell you it's fabulous start to finish. As you expect from a tasting menu each course is presented as smaller plates but heaped with interesting and perfectly cooked dishes. I hope that when you visit you get to experience the beef course we did as it was simply melt in the mouth and full of different combinations. Really that seems to be Paul's watch word with his cooking. Unlike some other tasting restaurants which focus on Dalian-esque presentation or some gimmicky cooking style (I don't need great tasting food presented on a cushion of porcupine smoke supported by replicas of the Elgin marbles carved out of sunflower seeds) the focus is deftly combining different tastes to create very subtle but flavoursome dishes. Trying to pick out the various ingredients became all part of the night and very rewarding to pick out the subtler ones. Lastly the boring bit, for two people with drinks our bill came to less than £130 which in my mind is actually a bargain for the for the food presented. I've eaten at other restaurants where the starting price per person for a tasting menu is that amount and the food not even half as good. Was left feeling pleasantly full not grossly full and whilst I might have said I could have eaten it all again that's very much wishful thinking (and I'm not a small eater!). So if you are even vaguely near Caernafon (it's 300 miles from my front door sadly) and want to eat really excellent food in a relaxed setting then you won't beat Sheeps and Leeks. Bravo Paul and co!

We visited on Saturday evening for the tasting menu, there were seven other tables and each course was served to the guests at the same time with an introduction from the head server. All 10 courses were excellent and it’s difficult to pick a favourite but I especially liked the sea bass. The serving took about three and a half hours and it was great experience overall. I would definitely recommend.

What an experience, along with the most amazing food and wine flight to accompany. We had the 10 course taster menu, which was out of this world, the taste explosions were unreal. We simply did not want it to end, this true gem of a place is everything we love as a couple, intimate, cozy, friendly and inviting, served by wonderful staff and it was so lovely to see the Chef Paul Hearne get so involved too, even helping to clear the tables at the end of the night. This is truly one family team who are inspired by their love of cooking and entertaining. We will be back as soon as we are in the area and I would recommend anybody to visit Sheeps and Leeks.

What a fantastic experience and a total taste sensation. Rupert and team were excellent hosts. Rupert was so kind and made everyone feel welcome and was outstanding with his knowledge of all the wines that were part of the pairing with the food. The food was exquisite, every mouthful was an explosion of flavours and we loved the fact the menu was not always right as the chef tweeks and changes things as the season goes on. We have never experienced anything like this and we are now concerned 'normal' food will be ruined forever after our wonderful evening at Sheeps and Leeks.
