My family and I went here on Tuesday, we needed a quick bite and this place was perfect. The staff were great and so was the food. The options were varied which allowed us all to choose something that we would like. I had a Stilton, beef and horseradish sandwich which was delicious, the portion sizes were amazing considering the price we payed for each dish. I recommend to come here if you are in the area.

The BEST place in Caernarfon area to have excellent healthy varied home made lunches, coffee, selection of teas etc. Great local produce in relaxed quality environment. Run by extremely welcoming and kind management and staff. Good sign when many cheerful locals are regulars. Highly recommend!

What a lovely place to have a light lunch. Friendly and welcoming staff, fresh and tasty food and a delightful owner. There was even a complimentary sweet and tasty treat as we left as a kind birthday gift, which was delicious, so thank you if you read this 🙂 As well as the bright and comfortable cafe upstairs there is also a lovely deli to browse in where we bought some very locally made gin as gifts. There are also a few tables outside and a couple inside the deli itself. We were lucky to get the last table by the deli counter so I would recommend booking a table at this bustling and excellent deli and I would not hesitate to recommend a visit.

We cannot rate this deli and cafe highly enough! We had read the reviews and had high expectations, but Bonta far exceeded them. We sat outside in the sunshine, people watching.
I opted for a special - a watermelon, cucumber, feta and mint salad with fig and balsamic dressing. The juicy and sweet watermelon was perfectly balanced by the salty feta. Gorgeous!
My wife had a ham and cheese sandwich and within a couple of mouthfuls claimed it was the best sandwich she had ever had (and she makes exceptional sandwiches)! The ciabatta was freshly baked that morning - light and beautifully textured; the cheese was lovely and creamy; the ham was lean and juicy; the salad was crisp and refreshing; and there was just the right amount of mayonnaise. However, the sum was even greater than its parts - the ingredients complimented each other really well. The crisps were a welcome side and it was an ample lunch.
When we saw the desserts - we knew we had to make room for them too. We were delighted to learn that the raspberry crumble tart came warm with ice cream.
The other customers seemed to be enjoying their food just as much as we were.
When we spoke to the owner, she told us of her travels to Italy and where the inspiration for her dishes came from. We overheard her telling another customer that she had tried 'sweet drop' peppers in Greece, and when she could not find them in the UK, she grew her own and pickled them!
It was more than obvious the owner was so invested in producing not only the highest quality ingredients, but also in producing an ever-changing menu and experimenting with different combinations. She was not just passionate about food and service, but passionate about sharing her experiences from her own travels. I am under strict instructions to take my wife back to Bonta Deli very soon!

Popped in here during our holiday on a Tuesday in north wales where very little seems to open! We loved the atmosphere, decor, menu and friendliness of the staff and that was before we tasted the food. Lots of great items to pick from on the menu and everything made fresh. It really didn’t disappoint. Fabulous tasting food, parsnip and apple couple was gorgeous , accompanied with the most amazing ciabatta cheese on toast I will be trying to replicate when I get home! As well as struggling to find somewhere open we struggle to find somewhere accesable as my husband is disabled. Although one step into cafe, everything was made really easy by the attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble. Hats off to all concerned in this outstanding venue.

Whilst my partner was taking part in a National Park Societies conference field trip, I had a damp and overcast morning to myself. I decided to visit Caernarfon via Beddgelert, but on reaching the junction of the A4086 with the A498 I found that road was closed, so had to take the Bwlch Llanberis instead.
I nearly decided to stop for a coffee in Llanberis village; but after seeing that admission to the Slate Museum was free - but parking was £5! - I carried on to Caernarfon. There I avoided the signed car parks, and navigated the narrow streets around the castle until finding a small car park on a steeply sloping site, with the bonus that the ticket machine was faulty...
I wandered round Castle Square, appropriately finding the statue of the most recent Liberal Prime Minister, David Lloyd George, within days of the 100th anniversary of that event. By now I was really in need of a coffee, and in Hole in the Wall Street nearby I happened upon this establishment. It proved an excellent find, and in different circumstances I would have been interested in the wide range of deli items. My eye was caught by a display of pasteis de nata on the counter, so ordered one to go with my americano coffee, then choosing to sit outside. A couple of minutes later I was delighted when it was served accompanied by some fresh berries (see picture).
Both the coffee and the tart were excellent, as was the service, so I would happily visit again should my travels take me to Caernarfon again.

I pop in here for a sandwich quite often. The staff are polite and helpful and always there to advise on what to have. From a deli point of view, they are knowledgeable on my favourite thing...cheese with advice on what to have, based on my likes and dislikes (not much). I love to sit outside in the Summer watching the world go by whilst eating a delicious lunch, often chatting to others who do the same. Coffee is great too. A real gem in Caernarfon...one of our many wonderful local businesses.

Service with love. Every element of this place has a consciousness that is very difficult to find in some of the flat-line hospitality businesses. The team ooze a care that makes one feel exceptionally welcomed. The decor is chic, warm and very cozy.
Salivating over the dessert....which was put together with such attention to detail.
Truly, thank you.

We had planned to eat at the artisan ice cream and Dutch Pankcake parlour, Scoops. However, although they had advertised they were open Wednesdays on their website, they were closed when we arrived.
Although disappointed, we a did a little searching and decided that the reviews and photos of Bonta Deli looked promising.
Any expectations we had were exceeded. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience at the cafe/ deli.
Not only were staff members attentive, but every dish we ordered clearly had considerable thought put into it. From the use of fragranced apples in the salad as part of the dressing, to the whipped creamy cheese of the toast, accompanying the warming parsnip and apple 'soup of the day'; always something to savour. The teas were good quality and the passionfruit tart at the end was indeed tart in a way that real fruit is - nothing scrimped on ingrediants-wise here.
An unexpected pleasure. Well worth a visit, especially on an icy winter's afternoon.

I had great hopes for this restaurant as we have been striking out here in Caernarfon.
We went for lunch on a Thursday. The deli/shop itself is quite impressive with many local products crowding the shelves and various home-baked pastries. Having a gluten intolerance, I questioned whether I could get the turkey salad sandwich on GF bread. The answer was yes or I could have it as a salad with cucumber and tomatoes on mixed greens. I opted for the salad, expecting a lunch size portion with plenty of protein.
Instead, I got a side salad with two pieces of sliced deli meat rolled on top. I was disappointed and hungry when I was finished. I explained to the owner that I obviously misunderstood the menu. She seemed miffed at me for saying something negative (even after I admitted my own mistake) and offered to give me a GF bun or more protein but it was kind of a disaster and we just wanted to leave.

This deli slightly off from the main street and square provides delightful light meals. My ciabatta roll was a tasty mix of beef and cheese. My friend's salad had a great mix of different vegetables. My canned raspberry lemonade was high quality. You can sit inside or outside if the weather is pleasant.

Bontà Deli isn't your average deli, everything about it is special.
Deb and Richie are clearly very passionate about what they do and how they do it, and boy do they do it well!
The food:
With the help of Richie's recommendations we enjoyed a superb takeaway lunch on our first visit, then returned the following day for a stunning lunch in the licensed café.
The sharing platters were beautifully crafted, the cheese selections by Deb, and the wines to compliment them were perfectly paired. The bread is not only fresh and baked on site, it was replenished during the meal with fresh warm bread, so thoughtful and demonstrates real care and attention to detail.
The deli counter has a superb selection of cheeses and tempting morsels, the sausage rolls and Scotch eggs are delicious. Whilst we didn't sample the sweet pastries they looked lovely.
The staff and service:
Deb and Richie couldn't have done anything more to make us feel welcome and valued. Great knowledge, great recommendations with all of the cheeses and wines, very flexible in tweaking the platters to suit dietary needs and preferences, nothing is too much trouble.
We had the pleasure of being served by Bethan for the majority of our dine in lunch, again, so welcoming and friendly.
Overall, a great team who compliment each other and are all committed to making the visit a memorable and enjoyable one.
I have two regrets. Firstly, I live 2 hours away, and second, we left Caernarfon before we could enjoy a lasagne or 12 hour Ragù from Foodie Fridays
As you can probably tell I was blown away by Bontà Deli, I have every confidence you will be too

We visited several times, buying coffee, food for our self-catering holiday, treats for children and sandwiches for the journey home. This is exactly how such shops should be run - but almost none are.
We also spotted the owner running the cafe in Caernarfon Castle, a guarantee of goodies there, too.
