We booked through Expedia, which advertised free parking included - but the hotel car park was £5 a night extra. We booked one of the Executive rooms - the room was large, but poorly laid out (coffee making things in an awkward corner behind an uplighter (which was too dim to be counted as a light)). The bathroom was also... More

I am sorry to hear you did find the inn to your liking .As regards the car parking in Caernarfon we do have free areas which are few in the town. But the car park next to the Inn is chargeable .Expedia states this in the notes as car parking nearby not next to the Inn. More

Was looking for somewhere to eat good fish and the menu looked great, booked a table for 6:15 on a Friday night arrived and was glad i did the place was full. Ordered sharing fish platter, the special fish stew and their version of fish pie but with a crumb topping. Sharing platter a spoon of defrosted small prawns, some... More

You are correct that the Inn gets very busy and this points to the fact that we get everything correct the majority of the time.Sorry that you where not happy with the meal you received. As regards the prawns it is not possible for us to serve fresh as we cannot get a daily supply. More

The Black Boy is typical of an old Inn, different buildings cobbled together which all work well.Thank you for the review. More

We had an impromptu visit to Conway and upon arrival looked for the first place we could find to eat. What a wonderful surprise. My partner had haddock chips and peas , crisp batter and fresh tasty haddock. I had fish crumble which had chunks of fish and a breadcrumb and cheese topping, it was all delicious. The staff were... Always excels with service and that personal touch. I have never been disappointed and have been staying here regularly for last 2 years. Unusual to find somewhere that excels in service, food and accommodation but they continually achieve.

I stayed at the Black Boy Inn annex last year and had dinner in the main pub which is a very cosy olde worlde place with excellent real ales and a hearty dinner menu. The atmosphere is relaxed with lovely soft music which is not too loud so just very pleasant all round. Being vegetarian it can be a bit... More

We arrived here without reservation but they said they could accommodate us. We got a drink but found no were to stand let alone sit. It's a very small pub bursting with character but little room to move. The weather prevented standing outside. To be fair the wait wasn't to long and when seated the service was excellent. The food... More

I had a late lunch in the public bar. The traditional lobscouse that I had found on their Internet menu wasn't on the menu on display there but I could order it anyway and it was pretty good. I wasn't so enamoured of the background music and would have preferred something quieter myself.

Glad you enjoyed the meal at the Inn.The public bar has a juke box so we have no control over the choices. But the gain in the black boy is there are other areas if you wish .Thank you for the review. More

We have visited the Black boy numerous times when in the area for lunch (normally sunday lunch) and the quality of the food and service is always excellent. If this restaurant was closer I would visit every week!. It is a unique olde world inn and that adds to its charm and character. Its position within the castle walls is lovely... More

Description
The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic town walls of the Royal Borough of Caernarfon. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town centre, and the famous 13th-century Castle. An old Inn dating back to 1522 and with its wooden paneling, low ceilings, and thick wooden support beams generates a cosy 'Olde Worlde' Welsh atmosphere. The Black Boy is a very busy Inn; please do not expect it to be a slow laid back hotel. It is in the centre of the tourist hub of North Wales and long wait times can be norm in middle of summer. Come and visit us in the winter season for a more laid back feeling. We now also have Black Jacks, which is another renovated building in courtyard, at rear of Inn .Black Jacks is away from the hustle of the main Inn . All suites have small kitchen area.No lift in building. Some Ground floor rooms are easy access with walk in showers , 1st floor variety of rooms as is 2nd floor.we offer 24 hour staff attendance. When you stay in any country you must wish to stay in somewhere that reflects that country ,we certainly do majority of our staff are welsh speaking and so are the owners .Meal TimesSunday to Thursday: Noon until 9.00p.m. Friday and Saturday. Noon until 9.30p.m.Table reservations can be made via reception up to 6.30p.m. Table allocation after 6.30.pm. will be made on availability. Waiting times can vary and an indication of any delay will be conveyed to you. To arrange a table reservation (up to 6.30p.m.)
