Looked lovely from the outside. Menu quite appealing, good choice for family with range of preferences. But oh dear - garlic bread was horrible, dripping grease everywhere, first portion was burnt and had to be replaced but quality no better second time around. Bacon muffin lacked a garnish of any kind so looked dull and unappetising although tasted ok. Child's... More

I decided to stop here after visiting the castle, seeing the sign outside offering inexpensive meal (soup and sandwich for £6.75. After looking at the menu, I decided after all to splurge a bit more on the Welsh burger, a burger with 8 oz Welsh beef topped with bacon, cheddar cheese and tomato chutney sauce. The burger came with coleslaw... More

Lovely food and friendly staff, great service. We visited here for an evening meal whilst staying on a mid week break. We wanted something other than pub food in a place that was inviting and having passed several time in the day seeing how busy it was thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed and would... More

On a soggy day, having drowned visiting the castle, what we needed was something hot and filling Our soup with a cheese sandwich and an ample pot of tea did just the job as we dried out. Exactly what was needed

The positives. Starters of confit duck leg with red cabbage and celeriac puree and scallops with black pudding crumb. Simply delicious. Mains of sea trout with bouillabaisse and chicken with parma ham and goats cheese. Again delicious. Attentive service but relaxed too and no quibbles when the desserts were disappointing. They took these off the bill straight away and offered... More

Pretty standard reasonable quality cooked breakfast but was undermined by having to wait so long for our food! Friendly service but the waiter was very confused while trying to split the bill.

My apologies; this review is long overdue as we three dined at Wal for dinner more than five months ago. But I did keep my notes and remember that we had a wonderful evening. First the staff were very friendly, accommodating, and efficient. Our excellent server was Mariana. The food was excellent. Our entrees included Duo of Lamb, Seared Salmon... More

Really enjoyed our evening meal in this interesting restaurant. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The menu had plenty of choice to suit all tastes. Well worth a visit.
