Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were heading back to the midlands in England after a weekend jaunt in Wales and Abergavenny was our destination for breakfast on the way home. I must start by explaining the previous day we had been to Ebbw Vale, a place so stuck in...the 1970s that it depressed us to the point of dashing out of the town as quickly as we could. The Wetherspoons there felt as tired as the town and so our hopes weren't high. Fortunately for us, The Coliseum was a much more agreeable affair. We arrived at just after 8am and took a seat. The staff were courteous and friendly and took our order for two traditional breakfasts with a smile. We sat and started our coffees, waiting only five or so minutes for the grub to arrive. And when it did, it was tasty stuff, hot cooked very nicely indeed, even the toast was toasted. A rare feat in a Wetherspoons. No complaints at all for us in Abergavenny, we enjoyed the visit greatly and were quite happy to dwell over the coffees. We left happy.More

They need to sort out their real ales. I had two different pints and they were like mud! They were warm too! Took them back! Also two old dears next to me had the fish - I could smell they were off and advised them...not to eat it. They sent them back!More

As always, Wetherspoons delivers on food. We had fish & chips and mushy peas. The batter was lovely and crispy and the fish was white. The chips were excellent as well. Where else can you get a good sized meal and drinks for just under...£20.00 and know that it will be good value for money as well as good quality. It was also curry day and will be sampling this next time. Well done Wetherspoons.More

If I were to like up all my Wetherspoons experiences in order of goodness, this one would come in about the middle. Most of our food came out quickly. The lighting was low. The clientel were not too cartoony. I'd go again.

Absolutely vile. Rude staff very argumentative and quite aggressive. Dirty tables. Loads of plates piled up. And as for the food omg 😲 it was disgusting. It seems to be cheap but if you can't eat the food then it's not cheap at all. Forgot...how bad it was. 😫.More

Visited twice whilst on holiday this week. First visit food was excellent, second visit food was ok. One order was wrong and then didn't turn up so we had to chase the order. However on the second visit a male staff member was very rude...to us (I should name and shame him as the manager gave me his name, but I wont) I didn't mind him telling us we were not allowed dogs at tables outside, our mistake but we didn't need to be shouted at and spoken to in such an aggressive manner, especially when they were quick enough to take our money in the first place. Repeatedly telling us, "I will be moving you on after your meal" was unnecessary. We are reasonable people and understood but didn't appreciate the aggressive tone. Spoke to the manager, she said she would speak to this member of staff - no idea if she did.More

I'm not one who leaves poor reviews, but on this occasion I feel I have no other option. I was in between clients and time was of the essence . I ordered a Breakfast Wrap and a Coffee. The duty shift manager took the order,...I waited for around ten to fifteen minutes, then I could see her clearly by the pass with my order, she then decided to engage in at least a two to three minute conversation with another female member of staff. When she finally made the effort to come with my breakfast, she made a half hearted apology as I put out my arms and said come on. I should've said something at the time but didn't wish to embarrass both members of staff. Customers comes first and foremost, service first, conversation afterwards!!!..it goes out of the window when a customer is waiting for food they have paid for! Total lack of detail and non-man-management skills sprung instantly to mind. I like my breakfast and in particular my wraps to be hot inside, mine was warm but definitely not hot, it was only because of the tight time frame I had that stopped me from sending it back. The duty manager did ask whether my breakfast was okay but this was said behind my back, and not physically coming up to the table. I said it was okay but it wasn't what I had paid for. I ate all of it, thankfully the wrap was edible, but as earlier stated the meat and egg was just about warm but not hot. I think I will just stick to the coffee in future, at least I am in total control of as and when I drink it, and whether I have it hot or warm!! Normally I have a damn good rapore with the staff in general, but on this occasion because of the tightness of the time situation, the overall experience left a slightly bitter taste in the mouth.More

Waited 20 minutes to order a drink at the bar. Was served a "partial pint" which I had to ask to be topped up. Tried table service for the second attempt, waited 20 minutes and asked a serving staff member hon the floor about my...order. Was told "very busy, you will to sort it out yourself". There is a reason that Wetherspoons is less costly than a real pub!More

Really good service off a young man, he was quite obviously new but checked back on us multiple times, asked about taking our children's half eaten meals (the were finished but the plates were quite full still as they don't eat a lot) and food...came out quickly and hot. Will be back againMore
