Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice (and dog-friendly) spot to grab a coffee and a great piece of cake. Clean and pleasant. Not a particularly warm welcome from the staff - no smile, limited interaction (unfortunately) but the coffee was excellent.

Stopped here with Wife and M-i-L, ( and a dog ! ). We stayed indoors, as the garden was full. The ladies had fruit teas and I coffee. Excellent cakes !.

It’s frustrating that a place with such lovely food has such terrible customer service. The owner (female with short brown hair) was terribly cold and had an unpleasant attitude about her. She was arguing with one of the kitchen staff in front of other customers...which made me and I’m sure other customers, very uncomfortable. Also, they only accepted cash and I found out later the tips are not given to the staff but rather the owners take it for themselves!More

Go here. I have tried most of the places in Abergavenny and the cakes and coffee here are the best. Flat white is short and robust. Cakes are incredible, always a good choice and changing with the seasons, good portions. Cash only though which is...a shame, need to keep the cash going. Beautiful garden to sit in during the growing months.More

We loved this place so much we went every day of our short holiday - it's so individual, service is so friendly and personal, and the cakes are just wonderful. We sat out in the garden on each visit which is just beautiful - couldn't...be a nicer place to enjoy a relaxed lunch or cuppa and cake. Something about the place, and how relaxed and friendly it is, makes all the customers so friendly too! If you're in Abergavenny, don't miss it!More

Hidden gem of a cottage garden and amazing cake. It's in the centre of town, a haven of peace. Friendly staff

At first, I walked straight past this wonderful coffee stop, but when I returned I was glad to have made the effort. The owners were relaxed and friendly, the coffee, locally roasted, was superb, and the garden an absolute delight. Secluded and quiet, exploding with...colourful flowers, each table an oasis of calm. This was the perfect place to take a break and enjoy my coffee.More

We really love Fig Tree Espresso. It’s welcoming, very friendly and a lovely experience. The owner we met today was fab (congrats on the new baby) and our waitress was a delight! Perfect flat white coffee and THE BEST cake we’ve had for a long...time. Gorgeous garden to sit in, a peaceful morning break. Thank you!More

Another hidden gem. The courtyard where you sit at the back is a perfect spot for a coffee and one of their delicious cakes. We need more independent coffee houses like this!

We visited based on the positive reviews. When we visited seating was outside only in the garden, which is lovely. We were served by a lady who to be honest seemed disinterested. When I heard the cost of our order I have to say I...was surprised at the expense and I'm used to London prices. £4 for a slice of cake in a cafe?! Personally I don't think the price is justified.More

We walked into the shop and ordered our coffee and the staff failed to be welcoming to all 3 of us and when sat down the coffee and cake came quick however the coffee was cold. We finished our coffee and sat for 45 minutes...and no staff walked out to take our empty mugs. The only thing positive I will have to say is they follow COVID rules well and I could spot no failures in that.More
