About
The Aberconwy Resort and Spa on the north coast of Wales is a seaside retreat which boasts its very own gourmet restaurant. Signatures is a swanky affair – and its slate walls, vanilla leather chairs and chi-chi chandeliers are the perfect backdrop for relaxed nights out with friends and family. The restaurant has a theatre-style kitchen run by Executive Chef Jimmy Williams, and the modern British menu at Signatures includes a variety of Welsh classics including the duo of lamb with creamed leeks, pancetta and potato gratin, and the Welsh cheese platter. Locals also love the chorizo and spring onion risotto with chive oil, and the restaurant's excellent selection of fine wines.

So close to being a great experience. Both starters, the duo of beef main and lemon tart were excellent. The pork fillet main was a bit dry and overcooked and a star anise was left in the cabbage which my partner inadvertently bit into and then had the taste of aniseed stuck in her mouth, ruining the rest of the meal. The service started off well but went seriously down hill as the restaurant got busier. This was to the point where it took about 10 minutes after asking to recieve the bill. I had my card out ready to pay but after another 10 minutes where no one came to take payment I had to go up to the till.

I have reviewed this restauranrt before and after several recent visits I thought it time for the uninitiated to be educated about this exceptional restaurant. For starters there is ample parking on the grounds and you enter into a comfortable bar/lounge area where you can relax with a pre dinner drink and admire the layout and modern tasteful decor. and immerse yourself in it's ambience. The staff are very efficient and considerate and nothing is too much trouble for them if you have a special request. The chefs can be seen cooking in the open plan kitchen and it is refreshing to see that there is no Gordon Ramsey type shouting and swearing but only sheer diligence and organisation. The important thing of course is the food and to me it's the best and I have visited many all over the place including several Michelin starred. On the night there was an a la carte menu and a daily special and we chose to pick and mix. The starters and sweets were pure indulgence and very tasty and well presented - almost a work of art. For the main I chose a fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and I chose a tasty red wine sauce to accompany it.. I should have mentioned the warm bread before the meal and the welcome sorbet after the starter. There are always nice touches here and the staff are attentive throughout. Highly recommended if you like good food and service.

We found Signatures on the Michelin Guide’s website and tried to make a reservation for the Saturday whilst visiting from Cambridge. Unfortunately they were unable to accommodate the Saturday but managed to squeeze us in on the Sunday. We’re so glad we ate here on our last night in Wales. The setting is airy and light with a great view of the kitchen with chefs busy beavering away making delicious meals. The service and food was faultless. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive and chatty. The meals were exceptional, as you’d expect with a Michelin Bib restaurant. Thank you to Louise for booking us in and her team for a special evening.

I’ll start by saying the food was very good and for a Michelin star restaurant was great value. The haddock risotto was my stand out dish but everything was super tasty. My husband loved his beef main dish too.
What really surprised us was the poor service. We arrived at 7.50pm for a 8pm reservation but weren’t shown to the table until 8.30pm despite there being a spare table for two right in front of us (the one they eventually showed us to). They sat us in the reception bar area with the menu and a drink for 40 mins, and asked for our order there without explanation. Eventually we were were shown to the table by Aled who didn’t even ask if we wanted another drink or offer us water. He came out with bread and plonked it on the table - clearly we looked confused because he started talking us through the two types but walked away simultaneously so we couldn’t properly hear him. Eventually we managed to get his attention to order wine etc. The saving grace was the chap at the end of the meal who offered us dessert (no because it was much later than expected) and apologised then for the delay in seating us. Just a really weird evening overall.

We visited as a family of 6, most of us having visited before. We were informed prior that it would be a limited menu and the service may be slow due to staff shortages due to Covid. The food was delicious and cooked really well however we found that it was very overpriced and small portions. We had to ask for the chicken to be re-heated and we needed extra sauce. Overall, the food was good and the service was great however we would suggest that the prices are slightly high.

We had a late lunch Saturday staff attentive menu extremely tasty after enjoyed a stroll back to the marina long the beach. We’d of never found this restaurant if we hadn’t of seen the reviews on here it’s a real find. We had starters, three piggy’s & lemon sole melt in the mouth, mains trio of beef & pork beef cooked perfectly followed by cheese & biscuits. Good selection of well priced wine all in all real good find will definitely be returning when next in Conwy.

Despite being in the somewhat incongruous location of a caravan holiday park, this restaurant is very good indeed. Excellent knowledgable service without being stuffy or over familiar. Cool decor with unobtrusive music. Great seating arrangement. Main courses (monkfish tail and lamb) were a riot of flavours — some might say too much going on — but for my wife and I they were fabulous. Desserts, too, we’re far from perfunctory but given an extra richness (the best sticky-toffee I’ve had in some time). And the price? I was surprised that after 2 cocktails, 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 large glass of wine, 2 desserts, and 2 coffees the total came to just under £100 (with no service charge expected or added).

Roast Dinner worth travelling for!
My friend and I have just been for a Sunday roast… at Signatures… it’s a set menu on a Sunday.. 3 courses for £28.95. We ordered the chicken liver pâté which was delicious, very smooth and the red onion accompaniment was the highlight, deep in flavour and elevated the dish to the Michelin recommendation. The salmon fish cake was another triumph…. With a sauce which was light and delicious.
For mains we ordered the Sunday roast, beef and the lamb, both arrived with different sides, beef came with traditional, roasters, parsnips, the largest and crispiest Yorkshire pudding I have ever seen and eaten. No soggy Yorkshire’s here. The lamb arrived with creamed cabbage, garlic and parsley mash, and carrots, and then a bowl of veg arrived with cauliflower cheese, carrot and suede and green beans to share. The gravy was dark, rich and extremely tasty.
Staff were attentive and kept the cocktails coming.
A very enjoyable afternoon, fantastic food, great service, friendly staff… what more could you ask for.
Highly recommended…. Worthy of travelling .. we came from chester.

Assumed that they are a Mitchelin Star restaurant, the Head Waiter said they were not but recommended !! By whom, I do not know.
I will never set foot in this property every again. It was noisy, the staff wer unknowledgeable or patronising and the food wasn't anything to write home about.
The whole experience was extremely disappointing. The premises were spacious in the same was a motorway service area is spacious. It was noisy (to the extent my partner and I had to lip read), bustling with activity so not condusive to enjoying a relaxing meal environment.
Our expectations were to have high quality meal where the waiting staff knew the menu inside out. The food was nothing special that I couldn't have ordered in a local pub at home but paid half the price. The waiting staff either didn't know about the food or couldn't recommend a pair wine to accompany my chicken dish. When I asked what wine would they recommend with this dish the waiter literally replied "A white wine" Seriously !! He didn't seem to understand the question at all about wines pairing specific meals.
My chicken dish was a combination of both breast and leg meat, the breast meat I was told had been totally over cooked and "braised for 4 hours" why would you do that to locally sourced chicken which I assumed was free range and naturally outdoor reared? The leg meat was a goo-like sauce with chicken skin wet and sloppy within it. Needless to say I didn't eat that. I wouldn't have served that to my cat. The field mushroom was cooked in a way to render it soft and rubber-like, would have been better seared in a griddle pan. The dish was garnished with a sail-like decoration made from crispy chicken skin, vile.
We spoke to the duty manager about our feelings and although we were offered 10% off our bill, I would have prefered have left with a better impression of the meal and indeed the evening.
We left within the hour, we just needed to get out of there. No dessert. Never again.

We booked this place based on its reputation for being a top restaurant with a fine dining experience and fair to say we were disappointed.
Firstly we have to say that the staff were brilliant, very attentive and would be happy to assist anyway they can.
To be brutally honest the food was no better than average in our opinion. For starters I had a mushroom linguine dish which was okay but not something you wouldn't be able to get in a standard Italian restaurant cheaper. My partner had his usual favourite starter which is scallops and said it was okay. For my main dish I had sautéed mushrooms which was served with other vegetables, potatoes and a tomato ratatouille which I got optimistically wondering how they'd make it stand out but unfortunately it was how you'd expect and didn't taste of anything special. As a vegetarian when we go to places slightly more expensive with good reputations I know I'll get something I wouldn't be able to get in many other restaurants however this wasn't one of those places. My partner had the chicken dish and said some parts of the dish were nice, nothing special and the chicken was a bit dry. We decided not to get a desert as we felt it wasn't worth spending more on something we felt seemed to be overpriced for what you got.
This place is very hyped up and when we arrived we thought it was going to be what we expected due to the warm welcome however the food was just okay and definitely not worth the price. To compare to other resturants in the Michelin guide which we've eaten at (rated exactly the same) the food was no where near that standard unfortunately.

My partner and I had 3 courses from the vegan and vegetarian menu at lunchtime and we couldn't have asked for more. The service was fantastic and the restaurant environment was welcoming and beautifully decorated (I loved the open kitchen front!) The cocktails we got were great but the real stars for us were the chefs. The food was all fantastic and they even provided a vegan brownie dessert that wasn't on the menu. Would love to eat here again especially as the prices are so reasonable for the quality of food, service and environment (~£70 for 3 courses each, 2 cocktails and a half pint).

What an amazing experience. My teenage daughter's favourite adjective is fancy, and she used it several times while we were here! I had the lobster bisque to start, which was delicious and beautifully presented, my other daughter had the mozzarella sticks from the kids' menu, which was a generous portion and accompanied by a delicious tomato sauce. For main she had the sausage and mash, the sausages were nice and meaty and the mash was extra creamy. I had the herb crusted pork, with pulled pork Wellington, which was a highlight. My husband had the coq au vin, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and the teenager had the duo of beef. I tried everything, and it was all exquisite. For dessert I had Little Italy, which was out of this world, I also got to taste the brownie and the strawberry selection, all just as amazing. And I discovered a new favourite white wine as an added bonus. We were there during a shift change, and the outstanding service didn't falter. All in all, it was one of the nicest meals and best dining experiences I've ever had.

We’ve just enjoyed our first meal from the new Signatures At Home menu, absolutely delicious! We decided to try three of the Sharing Platter options, and went for the Mini Lamb Koftas, Panko King Prawns, and Tater Tots. Each was served with its own accompanying sauce, and all three were perfectly cooked and generously portioned. For me, the star of that particular show was the Panko King Prawns served with Chilli Jam. Really succulent, and a perfect pairing.
Fantastic to see that Signatures Cocktails have been added to the drinks menu now! I had real reservations about how well they would travel, but decided to add a Cosmopolitan to the order. I needn’t have worried, as it was packaged in a container that didn’t leak a single drop during its 20 minute journey home. I’d forgotten just how good Carlos is as a mixologist, perfect Cosmo! I’m so pleased that we can still have weekend treats - congratulations to the Signatures team, keep up the good work!

I booked this place some weeks in advance in view of the good reports, and we were looking forward to an evening of culinary delight.
The welcome was very poor, and being shown to our table seemed a problem to the waiter. We were given menus and were left to select our choices without any comment.
After waiting about 20 minutes I attracted someone and asked for a wine list and again were left for some time before the waitress returned to see what we had decided on.
There were plenty of staff, and four of them were chatting away and seemed oblivious of the need for us to be "fed and watered"
The food we ordered was only of average flavour and quality, and we were obviously disappointed with our evening.
We may have been unlucky when we visited, but feel they need to up their game if they are to continue with good reviews.
We will not be returning.

We visited whilst on a two day trip to Conwy and we’re so glad we did. The food was absolutely gorgeous, we had the herb crusted hake & the duo of beef and both were out of this world. Great flavours paired with a lovely glass of wine on recommendation of one of the waiters. Dessert was just as good, the Little Italy was divine! Would definitely recommend.
